  1. The guys at Veolia Recycling Centre off the Old Kent Road are awfully nice and helpful chaps!
  2. elise5, a EDFer who came round my house with a fabulous box of chocolates when I was expecting a Bounty Bar, in exchange for the item I was selling/giving away. She was soooo nice and friendly. Love meeting folks from EDF!
  3. To answer OP, but even if I won one I'd sell it and buy a couple of decent bikes....
  4. I am a huge Flickr fan though pay for professional useage so have over 1200 photos on there but even without the subscription highly recommend it.
  5. Mountain. Now THERE's a band and another TV show that gave their music to the world "Weekend world with Brian Walden" or something!
  6. Thanks. That's handy!
  7. Thai muchly lots!
  8. It seems Ghandi takeaway has closed. At least their numbers don't work and they're not doing on line takeaway orders and I can't be bothered to walk across the park to check. Anyway, can anyone recommend takeaway Thai and/or Indian restaurants for the SE15 (East) side of Peckham Rye Park?
  9. Tried but one is expected to join before being able to see around. I used to be a regular in TheLondonBikers which is still going. Trouble is, to me Motorcycling is a solitary exercise, so I don't like riding with others or talking about biking a lot(!) though I am a member of the political pressure group AND motorcycle social type group Motorcycle Action Group (which I recommend to any biker as a very important bikers' rights group). Thanks for recommending this one though. Good to know there are many bikers' groups out there.
  10. ian_r Whenever someone asks something he does the research and always tries to help. Not sure which category though.
  11. Ummm, excuse me, new to this one: MAMILs?
  12. I have to agree with Lee Scorsby on this. More and more it is difficult at weekends to walk across the common as there are so many official and unofficial football games. Fine, football is not so bad and as pitches are large the inconvenience is negated by the fact it is not dangerous. But a whacked cricket ball is very hard and just because no such incidents have been recorded since 1745 does not mean it could not happen. Golf balls similarly are dangerous. A very good friend of mine was walking down a road near a golf course, a golf ball struck him on the side of the head and now he is a vegetable in a hospital. As we walk through the common we should not have to follow the line of any cricket balls being played just to stay safe. Cricket shd be played in a netted area and the Bussey VI have a safe area side of the building. A public heavily used common is not the place.
  13. Really? You did a survey?
  14. "I?m, of course, talking about the view from this tenth-story spot" Oh dear, oh dear.
  15. According to the stats given at the Police Ward Panel every couple of months, there is less crime in this section than any other ward in the whole SE15 area. We are delighted. Right, which b'std stole my pen.
  16. Peckham Rye Park has a table as do various parks around and Camberwell Green. I believe there are table tennis groups at Harris Academy but you'll need to check.
  17. Mr PR says look for a Camera Company called FIXATION possibly on South Lambeth Road, near the BP station opposite side of the road to Tescos.
  18. Yeah, see that? Profitable. As for cricket, too dangerous, health and safety yadayada, would need to be fenced / netted in to prevent stray cricket balls killing people dogs and so on. Now, about a second and maybe third table tennis table??? Mind you, those table tennis balls can do damage when I whack 'em.
  19. This was brought up at The Friends of Peckham Rye Park AGM the other day. Shame no-one could have come and talked through it with us, the Friends (and anyone can be a Friend of PRP obviously, it's not elitist). But unless I am wrong, it seemed as if it was a done deal. ie. consultation is being done because it has to be done but in actuality it will go ahead whether we hate it or not. Some People are going to be upset at the disposal of the last remaining prisoner of war hut. And as I said at the meeting, I couldn't care less about it. We have the history and photos of it and apparently it's pretty much falling down anyway.
  20. Wait, you received your SERVICE charge in January? That's rarely sent till April.
  21. Not received my Service charge yet either. To be fair, last year's were not that much higher than the year before's. What is bound to jump up is the garage rent, but that's another thread!
  22. Loved her. Watching the documentary again now. x
  23. I've heard the name Bree several times in America and my cousin's husband is indeed Randy.... short for Randall. My dentist's receptionist is called Patience, honest. And she has it in spades.
  24. OK, it's okay in East of East Dulwich so phew. Hope it gets back soon for you.
  25. Same ol same ol, but I did manage to elicit some happiness from some of them. And we have a new sculpture at the bottom of the park which elicited misery and delight - so nothing new really on this site. But we miss you.
