  1. we're all going to wembley, we're all going to wembley tra la la la, tra la la la No disrespect to Carlisle but probably would have preferred Leeds as it would have been more of a sell out. I will be going (season ticket holder) Next stop Pompey if they are still in it after today.... Should be a good game - rest of our tickets arrived today. Just hope there is no trouble Good Guardian article
  2. Actually there was an article last week where it was suggested that there were definate links between two of the fires (building sites) Don't think there is a link with the one where people died
  3. I did ask the woman yesterday when I phoned - she said there wasn't any limits initially then changed her mind when she saw my account

My card is registered and has auto top-up. On Wednesday we had all the snow so there was bound to be chaos on the trains. I get a train from Nunhead to Elephant (since I came off my motorbike in last weeks snow). When I arrived at Nunhead, I checked that there was actually a train coming before I swiped in. Unfortunately the first train that came was jam packed so had to wait for the next one. Got on the next one but what should have been about a 12 minute jorney ended up being 50 minutes as we were held at Denmark hill and then half way between DH and Elephant. These delays meant it was 1 hour and 46 minutes between swiping in and swiping out at Elephant. There must be a time limits on certain journeys as with would not let me swipe out at elephant - so I was charged the maximum fare of ?6. I phoned to get a refund yesterday. The complete days journey should cost ?3.60 under the new system (I get a tube to Tooting) but I paid about ?10. I don't think the refund will be the full amount because it woul depend upon the whole days journeys The day before I asked the ticket office bloke about swiping in and out if you don't get a train - you have to call for the refund. Points to note: 1. There seems to be a time limit within which certain journeys should be completed 2. You have to wait ATLEAST 24 hours for the journey to appear on your account - probably worth waiting for 48 hours for the whole day to appear if necessary 3. Remember that ?6 is taken off your card initially when you first swipe in and is adjusted when you swipe out - You must swipe out or you short journey will cost ?6 4. Always check the Oyster screen when you swipe in and out
  5. Great I can add to this thread now. I live in Nunhead so I obviously could not post in it before as it was so obviously East Dulwich specific ;-) I agree that the original thread should have been lounged as with was not ED specific

I agree. FirstCapital goes through Nunhead and plenty of Nunhead residents use this forum. I had issues yesterday on FCC trains - took me 2 and 3/4 hours to get to work due to delays and cancellations but I don't blame FCC. Just had a look through the site and it seems to me the the main gripe is not actually with FCC (or though they seem to think it is) but actually with the franchise system. Most of the issues that seem to have been published on the site seem to me to be out of the control of FCC and come down to problems with the track/electrical supply etc etc I don't doubt that there are problems with FCC but the site does not make it clear. From what I remember they were brought in because the previous owner of the franchise could not cope.
  7. Yes you do, otherwise you will be charged the maximum fare. Always tap in and tap out
  8. Sorry - couldn't remember which junction but knew it was nearby fellbrig
  9. Went along Northcross road at about Six and I think you may have a burst water main at the junction as there was lots of water flowing
  10. There were two gritter in Nunhead last night (south of cemetery) snaking round all the roads so would be suprised if ED wasn't done.
  11. Limesford Road and other surrounding roads in Nunhead have been a skating rink but the gritter went up and down 3 times last night. It seemed to help a bit. I had already emptied a bag of dishwasher salt outside my house so that I could get my motorbike out this morning. Generally the roads and pavement appear to be less gritted so far (personal observation) around East Dulwich and Nunhead. It just makes me very suspicious that the stocks of grit are not very high.
  12. Tends to be a drop of Lagavulin single malt. He always seems to finish it!
  13. Found a phone at the bottom of lordship lane this morning whilst cycling to work. it is a Sony Ericsson C902 with a sim in which is blocked. The phone is in very poor condition as its been run over and got wet.
  14. For years we used to go to Catford except last year we when to Bromley as Steve Guttenberg was starring. it was very good but very expensive. Not sure what we are doing this year. Catford is OK but the last few times we have been the crowd have been low.
  15. This link takes you to all the pantomimes in the country Panto diary
  16. The church would be a good start - up by the library. St. Thomas More R.C Church Tel: 020 8693 5070 380, Lordship Lane, London, SE22 8ND
  17. BBC1 showing highlights of England game at 10.15. Internet robbers barred an earlier annoucement.
  18. We've got points, we've got points, we've got points We've got points, we've got points, we've got pooooooiiiiiiints and only 11 games in ;-)
  19. done 3 of the 4 freeview boxes we have so far with no problems. Don't really use it much anyhow as we have our main TV on a V+ box. I guess our boys use it when they are not on their computers or PS
  20. I am sure he will accept a private message
  21. I do not think the campaign is aimed at taking people back to the dark ages, just being a bit more sensible. Mind you, after agreat holiday to Bulgaria this year (first time we have flown as a family) I did suggest that we drive there next year. Didn't go down very well as its a 3500 mile round trip in the car! Switching off unnecessary lights or other appliances, fitting draught excluders, not wasting food etc are whats recommended. 10:10
  22. My bro had a great stag do but then we are all real ale fans. We did a brewery tour at the Badger Brewery in Dorset then did a pub crawl around different pubs around dorcester selling particular real ales. Used the Real Ale guide and hired a 7 seater taxi for the evening. Ended up at the last pub playing darts. We went for the top beers and had a great but not too drunk evening. The same format could be used in london as there are several breweries still and many many pubs selling any number of real ales. Of course it will not work if you don't like real ale
  23. I don't need to because I'm not the one who's poisoning the world, its everyone else... Sorry, couldn't resist. I got an email from EON yesterday about it. I can look at my 'Energy Tracker' online apparently. I put new draught excluders in and started turning off unnecessary lights last year and it appears to have made quite a difference (don't have to pay ?289 per month anymore). Certainly will do it as it will save me money as well as 'doing my bit'
  24. Binester toys was not as far up as Ludlow Thompsons. I thought is was nearer if not where Mon Petit Chou is The gentlemans clothes shop was down between the bakery (Place/Hirst) and the Black Cherry. there was also anith chinese restaurant there called China China (they did a fantastic Yu Hong Beef)although that may have been a little later. The chiken shop is there now - the gents clothes shop was there or next door
  25. I use it to keep up with rumours about my team - as I am on O2 I can subscribe to tweets by text. As far as I am concerned it is absolutely pointless following more than about 50 people (depending upon how much they twitter as I could never keep up. I do follow a few celebs but not many. I follow a couple of journalist from a IT magazine that I subscribe to and of course I follow the delightful Dulwichmum. Only time will tell whether it will last. Strangely none of my close friends are on twitter but they are on Facebook as I am. I would agree with Sean - the majority of those who condemn it probably have never used it. Actually I have heard that somewhere before.... oh yes, the Millennium Dome. Many of those who critised it never went. I thought it was great - I spend 8 hours there and still never got to see all of it.
