Oi... thats my team your talking about! I will have you know that according to a number of journos Saints have one of the most exciting young teams in the league. Its just a pity we cannot score sometimes.... or play very well..... or stop other teams scoring.... Anyway we have a new manager and looking forward to beating Swansea tomorrow and going down to watch the game on Tuesday.

This is usually support staff and clerical staff thus increasing the pressure on clinical staff.
  4. Fantastic - thank you for looking into that for us. I will have a look for those bins.

The entry requirement is 5 GCSEs including maths, english and a science for the diploma and a bit more for the degree. The grades you get will determine which uni you go to in many cases. There are many who drop out, just like any other course. My wife is in the public sector also. About 4 years ago she started a degree which included training in the profession she was joining (probation) On qualifying she started on similar salary to a newly qualified nurse (but with more holiday). I have been in the NHS for over 20 years now and she still gets more holiday (though I have abetter salary I guess). I am fortunate that I am in a senior post but when I look at newly qualified midwives and nurses now I really do feel for them - it is a lot harder now than it was a few years ago.

Nursing is now a degree (though some places offer a DipHE with a BSc top up) so the entry requirements are as they are for university (cos thats where they are taught). Point of information - nurses do not get paid overtime - I wish! They (like a number of other professions) get enhancements for working unsocial hours i.e. night duty It is also fucking hard work
  7. newly qualified a nurse would expect to get a basic pay of ?20,225 (NHS Pay Review Body Band 5). As hannahspanner said there is London Allowance which is 20% if in inner London (the hospital where you work. For comparison I work St George's in Tooting which is classed as Inner London. This would be for a nurse who has done 3 years training. Pay Scales Referring to the payscales above a denior ward sister would be on a Band 7 and a matron would be on a band 8 (range A). In the olden days you used to progress to the next step within your band (or grade then) just by being there another year. Now it is different and you have to show that you have develped sufficiently to be allowed to move to the next rung in the band. These payscales are the same for virtually all staff in the NHS now (not doctors) including physios, maintenance staff, midwives, clerical staff etc

  9. Well I am technically a nurse but officially not (as I have let my registration lapse) and technically a midwife and officially a midwife. I used to live in ED but now live in ED borders (Nunhead) as its cheaper. Do I count?

What is being dug now is a branch to the reservoir. unlikely to be anything to do with that. Pressure in Nunhead is a little down today.
  11. Excellent. I think is was exprerimental to start with but glad to se it is being rolled out a bit more.

Ulrika - I think she has been Botoxed (sp?). La Toya - looks too much like her brother for comfort!
  13. As father to 2 teenage boys, are you sure they are not using utorrent to download stuff. My router must be about 4-5 years old now and supports 3 PCs and two laptops at one time. The snag has been when my son had utorrent running - ground everything to a halt nerly. That said, it may be that your router is coming to the end of its useable life. As LL says, if you upgrade go for an 'n' series router (though to get the full benefits you will need 'n' adapters as well.

I am pretty sure that it was only supposed to be 8 or 9 times - the regenerating thing.
  16. Please forgive the plug As you may or may not know, I was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer (non-hogkins lymphoma) in 2007 and chemotherapy successfully put me into remission in November 2007. I will be doing the London Marathon in 2009 (note the ?doing? and not ?running?!) in aid of the Lymphoma Association. It was a tricky decision to decide who to run for ? do I run for the hospital and Unit that I work in (St George's Hospital), the hospital that treated me (Kings College Hospital) or an associated charity. The Lymphoma Association is the only UK charity specialising in information and support for patients and their families but is relatively small and does not have the funding streams that many other charities have. I have a sponsorship page and would like to encourage you to have a look. If anyone is interested I have just started a facebook group

  18. Pretty sure that the one at the bottom of Lordship lane is. I think there is also one at the top of Lordship lane.
  19. I have a huge bag of tetrapaks but nowhere to take them. Does anyone know where?
  20. You also get some HD content with VirginMedia if you have their V+ box. You only get BBC HD as a channel but you do get HD films and other programmes from the TV on Demand service. HD is very good on a big TV set. The V+ box is very similar to the SKY+ box in that you can program it to record TV progrma (which you can then transfer onto DVD). V+ has souble the capacity of SKY+. If you have a DVD play that can 'upscale' then you can also watch DVDs in better quality (though not full HD). If you have a PS3 then you can us the HD facility that comes with it. You will only get HD channels if you subscribe to a service such as Virgin, SKY or FreeSat. As Lozzyloz says it is definately worth getting a HDTV if you are buying a new one. There is a very good range. You can always get the other bits/services at a later date
  21. I did find the OP a little scaremongering to start with. I am not sure how a tube tunnel can be compared with this pipe. Yes the pipe is quite big but its just not the same. Is there evidence of subsidance from the actual ring main itself which has been in place for some years - not. As a home owner I do understand the worry but I can't help but think people are getting their knickers in a twist over it.
  22. Looks like she is staying in Nunhead for Christmas as the Police have returned. I wonder if she is the minister 'on call' for the Government over Christmas
  23. they are looking for baddies at night using their infrared camera. It is not that often and I would guess that they would only use the helicopter over densely populated areas if the person was very very naughty. If you write be sure to post here what the reply was
  24. Police helicopters - you can complain but not sure it will make any difference. Have seen them using their spotlight occasionally - very bright!
