  2. I guess it depends upon how long you are going to be. When I was having chemo last year we would park in Sainsburys and get the bus over the hill. My wife would then go back and get the car and go off and do the normal day to day stuff. When it was time for me to go home we would do the reverse. So long as you don't park for more than 2 hours it isn't a problem.

www.myspace.com/londontowarsaw Had an excellent evening at the White Eagle in Balham suporting Poland. The enthusiasum of the Polish supporters was excellent.
  4. Had Virgin (ntl) broadband for 5 years now since I started as a Trialist (they had upgraded the network. Very rarely have a problem but when I do a reboot of the modem usually does the trick. The other reason for problems is sometimes when they (Virgin) are working in an area. It does not show on their system as an issue but other areas are sometimes affected. Have not had a problem recently though (Nunhead)
  5. When it comes to having a baby and the choice is 'private' or 'NHS' the first decision to make (assuming the mother is low risk) is do you want your care by midwives or doctors. Private can be split between private obstetrics (care by a doctor at either a private hospital such as the Portland or sometimes at an NHS hospital which is preferable in my opinion if you have this particular choice). The other private option is an independant midwife and I know there are a few who cover this area. They give much more personal care but you need to remember that they are not regulated under the NHS, in fact they are not even covered by the Healthcare Commission. Under independant midwives you either deliver at home or at a birth centre. It is very unusual for independat midwives to deliver in hospital as they do not have NHS contracts. Certainly in my own hospital they HAVE to hand over care to a hospital midwife if they need to transfer a woman in albeit the minority of their cases. Under a private doctor you are MUCH more likely to have an instrumental delivery or caesarean section (major abdominal surgery). It may b available under private medical insurance but independant midwives generally are not (cost about ?5000 for a care package). I may be biased but I would whole heartedly recommend care under the NHS (even at Kings!)

I have tried to follow them before and ended up nearly going the wrong way downa oneway street or turning right when there is no right turn allowed. You should never just blindly follow a satnav - especially in London.
  7. As none of the home nations are in the Euro finals how about supporting someone else. www.myspace.com/londontowarsaw
  8. I went passed just after 5 and could go through Goodrich Road between Uplands and Dunstans and there were many many police cars and officers including plain clothes officers. On my way back you could not go down that part not could you go up Dunstans towards the school thus I doubt the issue was on Uplands. On my way back they had been joined by an ambulance car but the paramedic was writing notes whilst chatting to an officer at the school gates.
  9. Get cable installed and then you won't need to worry about the exchange. I'm on Virgin but virtually all the people I know are on ADSL and many have various issues with it. I very rarely have problems.
  10. it is a very large exchange though technically it is in Peckham and not New Cross
  11. That probably Dave's Window cleaning service which is now run by his daughter (though he often does the door to door if you ar out when the windows are cleaned. They have done ours in Nunhead for years and know that they cover East Dulwich Number is 0778 7728 766

You have to remember that Haberdashers has to take a 'comprehensive' intake (granted they have their own ways and means). This means that it cannot cream off all of the best as it has to take lower achieving kids. Two of mine go to Haberdashers. The first one did not get a place first of all and was put on the waiting list. When he got his SATS results at the end of his year 6 term we wrote to the school and asked them to reconsider. Two days later we got a call offering him a place. Child number two got a place due to the sibling policy which came into force the year he went up. He still had to do the tests in order to be banded. It is an excellent school and both are doing well. It is the most oversubscribed secondary school in the country.

  17. And some posts are very close together. Definately appears a bit fishy to me.
  18. That it still about 100ft - that is very deep to me. Surely it will not be 35 metres under the plough area considering how much higher it looks like it is above the reservoir. The map says the main is 40 metres down
  19. That be the work they are doing at the reservoir near the Colyton/Homestall road junction which is the entrance to the tunnel. Thames Water Ring Main Extensions talks about it and has a vague map. I would have thought it would be very very deep under the Plough area (if it was taking that route). Wasn't there work at goose green that was part of the new ring main a couple of years ago?
  20. Interesting fine related article (though about parking) on the BBC

  23. I have seen two accidents where people have turned right there, one involving a motorcyclist who was hit by a car turning right. I think it may be due to the volume of traffic that is often on that part of London Road.
