It is always worth calling 999 as soon as possible after a mugging. Southwark have a robbery squad who patrol in unmarked cars around the borough. They arrived pretty quickly every time we have needed them Both my boys have been mugged in the last year. My eldest a couple of times and an attempted robbery. Be under no illusion - mugging=robbery. ne of the robbers was 14 and the othe was 16. One who was involved in the attempted robbery (16) got a 6 month supervision order (an was advised not to mix with the other one). He has taken heed and has moved away and got a job. the other (14 year old) got a 12 month supervision order and was order to pay my son ?50 compensation. That is a lot of money for a 14 year old! My other son is due at the station this week to do an ID parade. Always worth reporting but sometimes you need to chase it up. Please be careful with information given to police as poor information can jeapodise any case

We have been once and found the food good. What put us off was the price. Le Chardon is much better - a more down to earth restaurant (I know they are owned by the same person)

that is a very good point. The damage could go unnoticed.

Not sure really. The problem is if you drop it trying to pick it up. I have a 900cc which is f****g heavy and it difficult for me to pick up and I am a big guy. Personnally that is what I would worry about so would leave it (unless I knocked it over!!) My previous bike was knocked over a couple of times by my next door neighbour in her car - silly woman!

Harris Academy (new boys school for East Dulwich)
zephyr replied to macroban's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hatcham became an academy when it took over Mallory (it was part of the deal and benefited from funds to make improvements on both the Hatcham sites). Hatcham College and Knights Academy are both academies in the Haberdasher Askes Federation -
and one for dads ;-)

The Keen Group - another Clapham invasion?
zephyr replied to Muttley's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I havw used them with no problems. many cab drivers use Stnav these days. I got a cab from Clapham to Nunhead a few weeks ago. The driver went by his satnav (quickest route) when my route would have been better. He insisted in taking all the side road etc even though it was 3 o'clock in the morning and the south circular was fantastically clear. -

East Dulwich! Forest Hill! Sydenham! Where to live?

I think Eat Dulwich Station is awful but it does not make east Dulwich bad. I like Nunhead - it is an up and coming area. There are a couple of rows of shops that are crummy but ED had those too. There is nothing wrong with the housing stock as far as I am aware. -
The dishcloth boys are on their rounds again - they are in Nunhead tonight.

No - down the other end of Gordon road. If you follow the Live Search link you get a birds eye view (also great for looking at Wembley Stadium and other buildings in Town). Its the building right in the middle. I have attached a picture

Thanks for that - very interesting and good to see it still standing.

Nunhead/Peckham this link opens the Live Search page where you can look at a 'birds eye' view Live Search

not strictly ED - its in Nunhead. There is a building th north end of Gordon Road that is now converted to flats but looks like it used to be either a Hospital or school (looks more like a hospital). It is comprised of three buidling which are link bu a covered veranda. It looks a lovely building and I was interested in its history. It is easily seen from the train line (Nunhead to Peckham Rye Stations)

Don't know if this is the case here but many years ago I used to work in a supermarket and we had codes for all sorts of things. Things like security to checkout X or if someone was trying to do a runner a particular call to alert certain staff.

TLB forum - don't know that one?

You are right - Hollydale Road (especially the top part) is a disgrace. It is part of my round route having got a takeaway from Gibbon Road and it is so bumpy the bag always falls over. Seriouslt though I have deliberately avoided it on my motorbike in the past.

8 years ago we bought through Acorn who were excellent and sold through Wates who were excellent. I guess times may have changed. I think DVR will do OK - I have known Mel (who is co partner in the business) for 13 years. He is local with an immence knowledge of the area. Bushells have always been horrid

That would be beacause of Harris Academy which is technically on Homestall Road (Colyton meets Homestall where the Thames Water site is). With the number of students coming out at the end of the day it would be too dangerous. It is bad enough going passed in a car dodging the girls but a lorry? It is also very narrow along that stretch.

How about getting in touch with the Friends of Peckham Rye Park about the play area

local rail services - all stations near East Dulwich
zephyr replied to Eileen's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Never used ED station much when I lived in ED but do use Nunhead 100 times more. Good (and generally on time) services to Victoria (via peckham and Denmark Hill) and Blackfriars (via peckham and Denmark Hill and best of all Elephant and Castle). the only problem is that you cannot get a train to Victoria after 7.08pm which has been a nuisance at times when friends have come over. Never really liked ED station. When we were in ED we used the bus to go into town but now we use the train. -
