zephyr replied to Curmudgeon's topic in The Lounge
Bought a lovely (large) Walnut and Onion loaf from the stall on northcoss Road last week. Who runs that stall. Had some lovely cake as well! -

It is a lovely ride! I got it a year ago to replace my Zephyr (photo attached).

I was wondering howmany motorcyclists are on the forum. This includes scooter riders as well. So what do you ride? I have a 1999 Triumph Thunderbird (photo attached)

They mainly deal in scooters and low end bikes these days. I gor my scooter there 6 years ago and then got my Kawasaki Zephyr there 4 years ago

Difficult to know for sure but I recently had an aircon pipe replaced by them. The bill was ?400 of which ?150 was labour. Their labour charge is ?50/hr +vat but I know for a fact that it took longer. VW garage quoted ?560 for the same work. Banged up or not the parts may be expensive and you are looking at at least 2 hours labour. A Spec**list clutch place may well do it cheaper as they would have a more specific supply chain.

I get my Specsavers contact lenses by post. Then again I use th Bromley branch (always have done).

And when we DO win we dont really know > what to do! Yes - the majority of fans booed the players off the pitch at the end (although it was not as bad as at the end of the first half. What was worse was the booing when it was announced that Lampard was man of the match - where did that come from??? The only person who was applauded was Beckham though Crouch did acknowledge the crowd and was applauded to a smaller extent. It was my first time at the new Wembley last night and it was amazing. Unfortunately we got wet before we went in, got wet queueing for the tube and in the middle was a poor game of football.

We normally have a family roast at 6pm on Sundays but went to the Old Nun's Head a couple of weeks ago for a roast instead. It was great (if a bit expensive for a family of 6). I do agree - the brownie is lovely!

I understand that there are moves to have a proper school website for Goodrich
-
To be fair though, PC had a very long association with the school. I am not knocking what he did (especially FOG which, as I understand it, he founded) I am just trying to put across that they are very different. There are always issues when someone is new and some do not like change or at least take longer than others. Not everyone will like the way SP runs the school but not everyone liked how PC ran it either. Re: the newsletter. The same could be said for the letters that PC sent out. At least it is communication and does let parents know a little of what is going on. For some the information will appear to be saying nothing that they did not already know but for others there will be invluable information. Many many parents do not set foot in the school so may not have the information. FWIW I like the lining up before and after school. I hated the hot smelly hall and the throng of people in a confined space.

text removed on request - The Administrator I see Shirley patterson occasionally and her weekly newsletter (which she started) is excellent

Well last week I received 2 items that were posted in October (one from the 10th Oct). There are still some delays from the postal strikes - Peckham delivery office was one of those that had additional strikes (not sure if ED one was also)

Keep ordering new boxes. I have always emailed them and they have been very prompt. We have two boxes now as the plastics our family uses completely fills one on its own. Alays email them to take bulky stuff away as well. [email protected]

Wasn't it the 'London Clock Company' for a while. I never knew it was a cinema before but thinking back the build did have that look.

lost bird/parakeet anyone?
zephyr replied to fatfightersforever's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Anfd this year they have taken up residence in Nunhead cemetery. They drown out all the other bird song now. -
I would agree with that *Bob*. I used to have a scooter for commuting but only really upgraded to a proper bike because the local tealeaves kept trying o nick the thing every night. Got fed up with it in the end. I got a smallish bike (250cc)and they tried to nick that as well. Once I got my 550cc I never had any problems. Now got a Thunderbird which is more of a target for 'organised' thieves but it would be reasonably difficult to lift it out from where I park it.

You can get minished type structures for bike security. I would love one but I would have to put it in front of my front windows - not sure the rest of the family would agree with that. I do not keep my Thunderbird on the road after my last bike was knocked over several times by or dozy neighbour. Every time I use it I have to squeeze it back onto the 'front garden' (area 4ft by 10ft). It is a bit of a pain but helps my insurance. It also stops road dirt being spayed onto the nice chrome.
