F.H Rd. Really nice staff. Nice pot of tea .. Portuguese Custard tarts.. I have my favourite Sun Trap seat outside. Xoco Bar and Grill. Great addition to the area. Lovely food .. Pleasant waiters.. very friendly.. The Cod Fellas. Bellenden Rd. Friendly proprietor. Beautiful Fish & Chips , recently refurbished sit down area. (Licensed for beer and wine) The EDT.. Probably the Best 'Pub' Pub with a brilliant select of well kept ales ( Constantly changing) also serving unpretentious food at realistic prices. Friendly staff. A. J. Farmers. An Aladin's Cave of household needs.. Really helpful staff. Love this shop. Well. I think that is enough 'Positivity' from the Fox for one day. Don't want to tear the A*** out of it :) Foxy

Thanks for all your replies.. I'm retired and at home most of the day in my Lounge. Heating the whole house all day is inefficient and I do not need my bedroom to be too hot at night. I have a very energy efficient Vaillant Combi boiler. I used to set the room stat to 21deg c all year round. In the summer it does not fire up. last year I set the room stat to 19 deg c and saved ?180.00 on my winter bills. Like I said.. I'm here all day not out at work.. Would be nice to see a bit of a flame. Foxy.

Anyone here had a Wood burning Stove fitted.. How much might a DEFRA approved Wood burning Stoves cost and how much for fitting. Can you also burn Smokeless Coal in them.. Are they efficient to run and are they warm . I also have Central Heating. Any advice would be much appreciated. DulwichFox

I would not expect Sue to understand or agree with me on any subject even if I said The Ivy House was a great place Sue would simply see DulwichFox and the Ivy House and assume I was slagging it off. Having studied the Turkish language and culture on a three year course and visiting the country on numerous occasions over the last 25-30 years I have a good insight into the people and their up-bringing. I talk to the Turkish community in East Dulwich in restaurants and have some Turkish friends.. We call people from Afghanistan Afghanis not Afghanistanis. It is grammatically correct. ..and so is true of Pakistanis.. The abbreviated version of Pakistani became offensive by it's use by far right groups. When I was a kid.. 1960. on a Sunday my mum might say. "Michael.. we've run out of milk.. can go round the P**** shop. They'll still be open." She was not being racist.. offensive. Did not mean anything. We have become obsessed with P.C. there used to be a road sign .. 'Accident Black Spot. I believe it is now banned.. DulwichFox -

ED Barber - homophobia? racism? and a bad haircut

Let me try and make some sort of sense out of all this.. Turkey relies on Tourism.. Travelers from all over the world visit Turkey every year. In the 30 years I have been traveling to Turkey I have not come across blatent hostility with foreign tourists. I am not fluent in Turkish but can pick out most of the 'vulgar' terms and words being spoken. But.. The Turks young and old seem to be obsessed with big willies and (taking it up the batty.) as the OP posted. Any one who has travelled to Turkey or Greece would of seen the statues in the Museums there. Talking about these things are a bit 'Rude' Like small children here say ' Bum ' and giggle.. I do not think that the guys at Mems are being intentionally Homophobic. I have spoken to 100's of young Turkish waiters many of which will be appauled at people using offensive language in their bars. The reference to the Abreviated Pakistani word was not about the Race but what they were supposedly selling . I do not think The staff at Mems were being intentionally Racist. The Pills.. Turkey is awash with 'V iagra' I'm not too sure if it is available over the Pharmacy counter. But there is 'Mock' V iagra everywhere.. In every shop... market... I think this whole thread needs to be re-assessed and conclusions not jumped too. DulwichFox -

Dog Friendly East Dulwich - what is/isn't

Maybe the dog > liked looking out of the window. > > Or maybe he wanted people to look in at him as he > sat in ...... trendy ..... @#$%& ....... etc etc > etc I don't get that at all.. I was a regular at The Bishop. Clarance (The Dog)would try and squeeze in on his favorite window seat But when Scott came in and called the dog he would jump down. He was docile .. well behaved and was loved by most people. Clarence never pesterd diners for food. A gentle shove and he would get down.. Who turfed you out.. ? The corner window tables were reservable an on occasion Scott sometimes resrved them for staff gatherings . but mostly Scott and his crew assembled at the far end of the bar central raised area. How often do your frequent and support East Dulwich's restaurants?

Most Indian Restaurants seem to cater for lone diners... probably why I eat so many curries.. Other places are not best suited for lone diners .. with large tables for 4 - 6 people and a reluctance to offer a table to one person. I can understand that.. Also some places with bench seating.. Although that seems to work fine when eating Pie & Mash. Could you pass me the chilli vinegar mate.. Thank you. Foxy -

Go to Control panel, Region & language, Keyboards & languages, Change keyboards, General tab, select United Kingdom keyboard or click on Add... & select it from the list first. Afterwards, go to Control panel, Region & language, Keyboards & languages, Change keyboards, Language bar tab and, if you don't routinely need to change language settings, make the language bar hidden. Then, go to Control panel, Region & language, Keyboards & languages, Change keyboards, Advanced key settings tab where you will see the shortcut key sequence that probably got you into this problem by accident. You'll also see the Change key sequence that you might wish to alter by clicking on the Change key sequence button and setting Switch input language & Switch keyboard layout to Not assigned [when I changed these, I had to set Not assign for the Switch input language and accept the change then come back to the dialog to set Not assign for the Switch keyboard layout]. What is happening at the Ganapatti Take Away... Looked in recently to see a motorbike in the shop and a trellis table covered in what looked like large tubs of curry sauces.. spices and other bits of food. Place looked filthy.. DulwichFox -

Used to use The Wishing Well occasionally back in the day.. mainly to meet friends. .. but it was always a shite hole. When it first become The Victoria Inn I was invited to the opening night which went down well. I then won a Sunday Lunch from following on Twitter. which was excelent. Had several Sunday roasts there after that and popped in for a few beers from time to time. Have not been for a while and haven't seen the latest refub which judging by the amount of debris outside must of been extensive. It used to be a Sunday lunch sort of place but I seldom drink daytimes these days and hardly ever on a Sunday. Foxy
