We have not left yet and possibly never will.. Woke a few people up though.. Perhaps if there is a General Election and a change of Government there may well be an abandoment of democracy and a decision to ignore the referendum result and stay in the E.U. Will be interesting to see if that decision would give the U.K. more say in our own policies or Brussells will make things more difficult for us. ? Really cannot see an Election happening too soon .. ...and can the result just be ignored if a group of people don't like the outcome. Does voting change anything. ? DulwichFox

The problem with boilers in the bedroom is not just carbon monoxide.. Bedrooms tend to be upstairs away from your outside drain. .. it is the dainage.. Modern combi-boilers have a Condensate Trap. When full it purge through Condenate Drainage Pipe to an outside drain. There are STRICK regulations about how the CONDENSATE DRAINAGE PIPE is fitted and routed. It needs to be the shortest outside route to your drain. It CANNOT be discharged onto or into the ground. During winter care is needed to ensure the pipe does not freeze. This would Seriously damage your boiler. The pressure build up could cause it to explode. DulwichFox

Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Foxy how was the opening night? I am planning on > getting myself a take away tonight, if I mention > your name will I get a discount? > > Louisa. I went last night.. and there were a couple of Curry Club people there.. It was VERY crowded so we went for the Mini Buffet that was also on offer. Not the usual Sunday Buffet but we got popadoms and Naan bread. It was extreemly hot in there last night and we had to go outside to cool down. So we did not stay long but I understand they did not close until 01.30 this morning.. The menu was the same menus were from the old Jaflong.. Just say Mr. Mick recommend them to you.. ;-) Foxy -

Elphinstone's Army Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Is this your family photo you are sharing with us? Thank you, this is better or as good as a memory. No. I just Googled Home & Colonial Store Bargoed because I seemed to of remembered it. I would think my relatives at the time would of known the people in that picture. Bargoed was a tiny place back then.. Foxy

In defence of Jeremy Corbyn, all the empty seats he walked passed had 'dockets' in the headrest.. In my limited experiance of long distance rail travel, that would indicate the seats were reserved.. and therefore not available.. DulwichFox

But I sort of remember Home and Colonial Stores possibly from Bargoed in South Wales where my grand parents(dad's side) lived .. Home & Colonial Store in Bargoed in the 1950?s or 1960?s How times things have changed. Foxy

Agree.. In the past Farmers could not sell misshapen fruit and veg to the big Supermarkets.. They simply would not buy the stuff. We then get the so called Farmers Shops.. Like Franklins. The Farmers / Growers would virtually pay these shops to take the misshappen stock away. ..and the so called farmers Shops milked it.. Calling everything 'Organic' because all the veg looked weired. They charge double the price and people cannot get enough.. Now due to some top chefs and a few T.V promotions, the major supermarket are now selling wobbly carrots and the like cheeply. ..and I'm all for it. DulwichFox

I really believe M&S have got this one wrong... When you take the car.. you don't want to trudge through the back streets .. with heavy shopping .. in the rain trying to find where you left it.. Initially people will drive and find that is a no brainer.. so will go up the hill to Sainsbury's where there are 100's of free parking spaces. It will become a pop-in last minute place.. like Iceland was.. I think the size will be its downfall. Trying to find what you are looking for when you do not have much time. I Simply do not know what the planners hope to achieve. Foxy

The old Iceland's was popular but never rammed with people... There was a constant trickle.. M&S have expanded the place and it is now vast.. I cannot see the new place surviving on a trickle.. Cannot see it being rammed with people buying Ready Meals... What else will they be selling ? I believe some Simply M&S are selling clothing. Correct me if i'm wrong. So is a case of just buying what you can carry.. like the Co-op where there is no parking.. I'm struggling to see how M&S is going to work.. DulwichFox

Too much produce on sale has already reached it's 'use by' date .. so reduced price. Milk with just 1 day use by.. one would expect 7 days use by. I put milk in my fridge and expect a few days use. Some produce on or past Best Before date so ok to eat ? but taste impared.. Sad looking fruit and vegetables... I'm not talking about misshapen.. but shrivelled.. discoloured.. Empty or broken down fridges.. some of the sliding doors have been recently repaired. Most of the till staff are friendly if you talk to them ...but I suspect they are P'd off with things themselves. They are just having to get on with dreadful management or lack of it.. It's probably why everyone seems to have lost interest.. DulwichFox

Is that normal practice in chippies > these days? Certainly the chippy I tried down in Brighton uses Frozen Chips.. The ones that are thin-cut but wide.. and all identical in size. They are crispy on the outside and resemble mash potato on the inside.. .. They also taste strange.. Yuk.. Often served up with a oblong shaped block of fish.. All servered in a cardboard box.. Decent Fish & Chips served on a plate with metal cutlery is a real rarity at the Seaside these days.. Well, certainly in Brighton.. and Ramsgate Foxy

I think Cod Fellas my use dripping.. The Fish seems to taste as such but could be the batter mix.. ??? DulwichFox

Had a tour of the kitchen this morning.. Sparkling extractors which were left in an absolutely disgusting state from the previous owners and took a lot of cleaning.. New gas range and Tandoor. Cold room.. Chefs coming in tonight to get things up and running and start food preps. for opening on Thursday evening.. Had a chat about staff clothing colours and outside signage . Maybe a little too much advertising.. Sunday Buffet pricing probably better on A-Board. ?? DulwichFox
