When trees mature they do indeed damage nearby walls and buildings and are a prime cause of subsidence and consequent buildings insurance claims. Damage to pavements also cause a serious trip hazard. Ask any runner / jogger. Also large trees shedding leaves block drains and even peoples gutters.. Also dogs will poo in any pile of leaves.. Nasty when children love to run through a pile of leaves.. It's fun. So there has to be a balance.. Some streets are not suited to trees.. DulwichFox

No doubt Southwark Council have already got Conway's pencilled in to do the repair work to any paving they damage. -

That has nothing to do with Community.. Going out to listen to music and getting Pi**ed With stalls selling goods. That is business not community. And as you well know I'm always at the Goose Green Fair and make an appearance at our own street party. I was there in 2014 dancing / participating. 2015 I was on holiday. I'm talking about checking if your elderly neighbour needs anything from the shop. Helping them if they need a bulb changing. Help them tidy their garden. People here call this Narcissism DF

Well put ourbubbleonline. Many people here think they are a cut above the rest... All fur coat and no knickers.. East Dulwich really is nothing special.. The essence of any community is not how much a local business charges for a Hamburger and who can afford it or how many new stalls there are in the local market.. The essence of any community is the people that live in that community and how they treat other people in that community.. Looking out for each other. That quality in East Dulwich has long gone and we are left with one-upmanship with a broken community trying to out do and belittle others.. That is the sad reality. People have no longer got any respect for others.. Call me old fashioned .. but that's how I was brought up.. DulwichFox

North Cross was supposed to be closed last night yet as I crossed it late last night a small Conways van came out at speed onto LL. with no lights on forcing me to leap (Yes Leap) out of the way to avoid being run over. Now the entire block of shops/flats from N.C. Road to Shawbury is now clad in scaffolding. Probably needs to be up to a certain standard before M&S can open.. Foxy -

Like I said earlier.. I haven't been posting myself here recently and was talking about this to someone else who was inquiring why The Forum was so quiet. I said "Well, myself and Louisa have not been posting. They have no one to mock or take the P. out of and nothing interesting to say about anything themselves. I bet you if I put up a couple of vaguely controversial posts they will all flood back." The other person replied "Do you reckon.?" "Yep" And they did.. lol. Even named *bob* Who needs Ego.. Foxy.. -
Eating food will not help you with Muscle Weight.. but will help make you fatter.. I am of slight build and wanted to do the same.. The best course of action is Exercise. Weights.. You need to start with very light dumbbells and work up gradually.. Increasing repetitions and sets. It is a very long procedure and you need to control what food you eat. and drink lots of water. You need to keep hydrated. You will get stronger but you need to be able to do regular exercising with days off.. You should see some progress after a few months.. Google the subject and find something that suits your needs... DulwichFox

jhhbrook Take no notice of *bob*'s comments.. They are purely personal. He thinks he thinks he is funny but Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. There are IMHO some hygiene issues but it seems to be overlooked by some. I'm not the Market Inspector. I use common sense. People here will bad mouth certain well established mainly Asian outlets but wont have a word said about the market. One has to draw ones own conclusions on why that may be.. I once asked about how to get a stall and was told 'There's a long waiting list..' and harder if you are going to be selling similar goods to those already available.. There are many food outlets already but cannot see that being a problem. Good luck with your new venture.. DulwichFox -

Good see Star-Bob-Star back.. have missed you ridiculous comments.. I haven't been posting myself here recently and was talking about this to someone else who was inquiring why The Forum was so quiet. I replied 'They don't have anyone to have a go at..' as Louisa was also not posting. But then I put 2-3 posts up and the Forum has bust into life.. You could not make it up.. Talk about neigbourhood watch... Awaiting comments about Egoism, Narcissism, and all the other -isms P.S. By the way by definition... Egoism does not uplift oneself above others. It is venal but not at the expense of others. Egoism can be considered a virtue. It can be a vivid or a normative view. Hope that helps.. DulwichFox -

Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Fox, the thing is, you are not representative of East Dulwich residents, or indeed of the twenty first century, but you seem to think you are. So after living in E.D. for 35 years, I am not representative of the area.? That's wrong. I am not representative of E.D. residents on The EDF Why would the market sell fruit and veg when there is a perfectly good fruit and veg shop already in North Cross Road? Because that's what markets sell. and most have several F&V stalls. Even in the vast markets in France , Belgium, and all the rest of Europe.. If you have ever been to ? And in case you hadn't noticed, there is a fresh fish stall, which you have conveniently left out, I did not conveniently leave out. Its just another FOOD stall and I don't buy meat / fish out of vans. And yes I do shop there most weeks. I quite often You really do seem out of touch with modern times Do you honestly think a market like the ones at, say, the Elephant or East Street would be appropriate in East Dulwich in 2015? YES, Why not? What does that mean.? Do you feel you are above that.. Better than that ? That really does sum up EDF. Nail on the head.. DulwichFox. -

For some, having an M&S on their doorstep simply makes them feel better in themselves.. The next door neighbours, there are a joke They cultivate a garden which they smoke And send their kids to the local schools They must be growing up a bunch of fools The next door neighbours haven?t a cent We own our house but they pay rent Property owners should remain aloof Especially when they?ve got a raven on their roof Andy Roberts. The so called market has in theory always been there.. There were stalls out on occasion back in the 80's when I first moved here and in the past I understand stalls went right up to Crystal Palace road. The market fell into decline.. It's nothing new. It was a real market selling fruit & veg amongst other things that Local people needed. Not just Pig Roast, Hotdogs, 'Street Food' ? Unrefrigerated Meats and cheeses. Pop corn. and a few 'Tat' stalls.. Does not constitute a market.. How often do you shop there.. ? The only thing I have EVER bought there is the Tiger Tea, but the Tea Guy (lovely chap that he is) is only there one a month at the best. Foxy -

I think the general etiquette is that one usually has to be dead to have a Statue although..in 2007 The 81-year-old ex-Premier(Margaret Thatcher) broke with centuries of tradition by having the ?80,000 monument erected to her while she is still alive. So if it was good enough for thatcher ? Why not... Foxy -

I'm sick to death with the amount of money being spent to enhance the so called market.. It seems to be the most important issue in East Dulwich over recent years.. With its Red Brick paving.. Road closures .. Elevated paving .. and now Gates being installed... There are more important issues in the area. DF
