No idea what TBHQ is but a quick Google to find out. Consuming high doses (between 1 and 4 grams) of TBHQ can cause nausea, delirium, collapse, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and vomiting. There are also suggestions that it may lead to hyperactivity in children as well as asthma, rhinitis and dermatitis. It may also further aggravate ADHD symptoms and cause restlessness. Long term, high doses of TBHQ in laboratory animals have shown a tendency for them to develop cancerous precursors in their stomachs, as well as cause DNA damage to them. It is also suggested that it may be responsible for affecting estrogen levels in women. Some before they have left the factory and again during the cooking process. DulwichFox

  16. Overheads do not have much bearing on the price... If your overheads are so high that the end product is not viable at a reasonable price then you have chosen the wrong product or destination.. There is always a ceiling price.. Like the housing market.. If buy a house where say the average asking price is ?250k and spend ?150k doing it up its not going to be worth ?400k Likewise Pasta has its price.. and ?6.00 for a few pieces of Ravioli however nice it may be thrown into a box is not good. 17. And just like Fast Food outlets a substantial box that needs to be disposed of... More packaging.. DulwichFox

A Mrs Doyle Character if may be allowed to affectionately say. She was very funny :) I used to work in the Plough in 1980 where she also used to drink mainly on a Sunday lunchtime. I don't know if she is still around. ?? She would be in her 90's if she was. Many of the other Irish folk that used to drink there have since passed on. Really don't know what She would make of East Dulwich these days DulwichFox

  21. Seabag Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So fresh veg is no better than frozen? > You two are proper muppets > > Fodder for the shops you use > > Ha ha ! Frozen fruit and vegetables can be healthier, with higher levels of vitamins and cancer fighting antioxidants, than leafy ?fresh? produce. Two independent studies found more beneficial nutrients in everything from frozen broccoli florets and carrots to blueberries. In two out of three cases frozen fruit and vegetables scored better on antioxidant-type compounds ? including Vitamin C, polyphenols, anthocyanins, lutein and beta-carotene. Consumption of these anti-oxidant compounds is considered beneficial in preventing cancer and supporting the working of the body, brain, skin and eyes. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2449843/Frozen-food-IS-better-Higher-levels-vitamins-antioxidants.html There are numerous sites to back this up. But it really is common sense.. Seabag do a little research. Engage brain before posting here. Your constant Insults to Louisa and Myself would seem to enhance your ignorance. Muppets ??? I believe it is yourself that has a hand up your backside making you work. DulwichFox

Yes that would be a fair assessment. All Supermarkets now sell fresh ravioli and other stuffed pasta. DulwichFox

I've only been to the Flying Pig 4 Times. and the last 2 times were when my then partner and I were splitting up. So I don't have fond memories of the place. Not been there since May 2014 Foxy
  25. Was a time when only Coal and Milk were delivered to your door. Boxes of misshaped vegetables which Supermarkets cannot sell bought up in bulk for pennies and delivered to your door for free because they are 3 times the price they should be. Louisa is right. Dried Pasta is indeed no different to the handmade stuff. Many top restaurants use it and only pretentious Johns would ever claim they could tell the difference. Plus it keeps well in you cupboard. I too have been drinking Real Ale since when it came in a Wooden Cask and not from Bottles with fancy labels and ridiculous names. And Mild too when it was available.. No doubt some new outlet will start selling it for ?8.00 a pint and the Good Folk of ED. as it would seem we are now referred to, will be queueing around the block claiming they were the first to sample it. Pseuds Corner here in East Dulwich. I am loosing the will to live. DulwichFox
