  1. Worrying news at Jaflong ..? Jaflong are now promoting BYO Does that mean they will soon not be selling alcohol any more ? Its been on the cards for a while, and was suggested to me my the owner at the same time that Swadesh stopped selling alcohol (Swadesh do not even allow BYO) I noticed recently that stock on the shelves in Jaflong looked a bit sparse. I hope not. It will be the death of Jaflong if they do. :( Foxy

  4. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Are you cutting and pasting Foxy? I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes Fed 2011. Through diet control I am no longer considered as being Diabetic. My sugars are normal with HbA1C of 5.3mml/L Even though I now eat almost anything.. Type-2 diabetes is diagnosed when HbA1C > 6.9mml/L I still test my Sugars although I don't really need to. I test for Ketones in hot weather after exercise if I feel dehydrated. Diabetes can be reversed but you need to read up and you certainly learn fast if you want to beat it. They are my own words. Foxy
  5. When Carbohydrates are restricted the body starts to use sored fat as a source of Fuel. When the Body burns Fat Ketones are produced and can be detected in urine with a dipstick Ketostix The indicator turns more Purple the more Ketones that are present. Even though everyone is generating ketones continuously, this detection in the urine is what is commonly called "ketosis." This is particularly problematic with people with Diabetes where a dangerous condition called ketoacidosis can develop. High Ketones can also be detected by breath smelling of 'Pear Drops' Acetone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once fat stores are used up., The body starts to cannibalize itself damaging major organs. The subject is vastly complex and too much to explain here. DulwichFox
  6. The Clique are a small group of regular posters using Asides, In-Jokes and Masonic Style Handshakes that are meaningless to most other EDF users. I fully understand everything Louisa posts as I do most other 'ordinary' users. DulwichFox

  9. Have just spoken to one of the Contractors. The Lines between North Cross and Crawthew were a mistake and are now being burnt off. (heavy chocking fumes) The lines between Crawthew towards East Dulwich Road are staying . There are cars parked on CPR with Double Yellow Lines either side of them The guy I spoke to said they would not be starting road works until 3 weeks time so the cars should be ok. Although he said he had no idea what was going on so maybe the 3 weeks was referring to the other section. He had no real ideawhat was going on and apologised for any inconvenience. Clearly not his fault. Typical Southwark Council faffing about. How much is this all costing. We all know who is paying. DulwichFox

Wish porridge worked for me. I find Porridge a bit of a struggle to eat and end up leaving some of it. Perhaps you are also not eating enough of it DulwichFox
  13. Agree with RPC Homemade soup is a great option for a Lunchtime snack with some good wholegrain / rye bread. Simple to make. Can be frozen. Healthy. Unlike the tinned stuff full of salt and sugar. Combinations are endless. And its really Cheap to make. DulwichFox

  17. Nothing to do with cats.. Mankind.. House sparrows have declined in many parts of the UK and their plight has generated lots of interest as it was not clear to why their numbers were failing. A prize was offered by the Independent newspaper of ?5000 for the person who came up with a clear scientific reason to why they were declining. This was awarded a couple of years back to Kate Vincent who found out that the lack of insect prey during the breeding season was preventing house sparrows raising healthy young. The question is why have insects declined in urban areas? It seems that humans have changed the urban landscape dramatically in recent decades with many gardens lost under concrete and decking and many sparrow sheltering hedges removed and replaced with 'low maintenance' fencing. The over reliance of garden chemicals is also a worry for garden wildlife. http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/wildlife/f/901/t/38211.aspx DulwichFox

Yep, I get that.. There may well be a perception of there being a clique that one is not part of or a belief one already is. Its a question of whether there is any desire to belong to any such Clique. Like there are people who win the lottery that believe they will be 'Rubbing Shoulders' with the Rich & Famous DulwichFox
  25. It's a bit like the Masons.. Those who are in, know they're in. Those who are not, know they're not. ..and if you're not in, then you won't know who is. But you can usually guess. Hope that helps DulwichFox
