Lynne Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Haven't seen a fox for ages, but saw 7 a couple of > nights ago when driving back from Beckenham There are Foxes on Northcross, Fellbrigg, Ulverscroft, Whateley roads most nights between 21.00 and 23.30 and that's just the ones I see. They sit outside my gate from about 23.00 each night waiting for their supper. They are very friendly and recognise me. They also follow me if I'm late and run ahead and sit outside my house. Occasionally I have no food for them and hold out my hands and have to tell them I do not have anything. They come right up to me and sit down. I am then forced to cook some sausages. They usually get 4 Hot wings from the Chicken shop if the P13 is due in more than 5-6 mins. Foxy.

And drawing out cash there too. > You don't normally advocate either... Give it a Rest. you are getting boring. I am In Peckham several times a week. FFS I was born there and lived there for 28 years. Why would I need to draw out cash there ?? I use Manze. My late mother used that same shop back in the 1930s/40s She worked in the shop next door. I just do not find the need to eat or drink there at night. Lordship Lane on my door step provides me with most of my needs. You know. Supporting my Local traders. Please find someone else to harass. We have probably one of the Best Pie and Mash shops 'on the Planet' nearby in Peckham. This photo of M.Manze Peckham is courtesy of TripAdvisor I cannot see any outlet on Lorship Lane matching those prices. It would be 'Posh' Pies. Probably ?10 - ?12 at the very best. That is NOT what Pie and Mash is all about. Foxy ETA Manze in Peckham is Cash only..

  14. Yesterday as I was leaving my house I was approached by a guy with 2 associates He advised me he would be working on my neighbour's roof and they would be putting up scaffolding Our two houses are of different construction and our two roofs are of different heights. He said my neighbour had damp problems and he needed to check my side to see where the problem was. I told him that my own Roofer had dealt with a previous problem several years back when I had damp. This is still problem free. He still put up his ladders and one of his associates went up. He brought down a broken tile. They reported that many of my tiles were damaged.. unsecured.. broken.. and that all my lead flashings were split and with inclement weather forecast I risked being flooded out. He said they would do the work immediately and asked for ?300 to do the work. when I declined his offer and suggested I would get my own builder / Roofer back he got a bit off hand. Not exactly aggressive, but very annoyed. This morning I asked my neighbour about him having work done and He said no. Not having work done, My Builder came. He looked at the broken tile and said 'That's a NEW break as the edges were grey' He and another chap went up on the roof and found several tile in the corner removed and one missing. (The Broken tile )?? He replaced all the tiles and the broken one. They did not charge me but I gave them ?20. to have a drink. Job Done These guys had a grey car. They had Irish accents and were surely scammers. I later went out and saw the car in Fellbrigg rd. I'm on Ulverscroft. they seemed to be driving around looking for targets. Please take care if approached Foxy
  15. It's a strange situation all round. Any concern that having Cash on the premises will encourage robbery is ridiculous. It is likely that many customers will want to pay by Card or by using an App on their phone. It is therefore very unlikely there will be much cash held at the premises. Any would be thief is more likely to attack a shop which is more likely to hold more cash and where it would be easier to disappear into the crowd. Haven't been to the Peckham Rye Cafe for 4 -5 years. I understand the Car Park has been made smaller. Am also under the impression that The Recycling facilities have been removed. But not sure about that. It became an eyesore due to the waste infrequently being collected. I do not drive anymore but I think the car park may be a essential to other elderly people. Peckham Rye Park is lovely, much much nicer than Dulwich Park which is quite boring. I can see a time soon when fewer and fewer people will be attracted to the Park. DulwichPark

  21. Lots of people play sports on the Common. They may well not want to leave Phones and cards unattended whilst they are playing and choose instead to carry small amounts of cash to buy a drink afterwards.

I am merely stating how I prefer do my shopping/buying. I prefer cash . I find it easier to keep track of my spending. The Topic of this thread is 'Cafe in Peckham Rye goes cashless' Talking about not liking that idea and not liking being forced into carrying and using cards is Way ON topic. Fox.
