Why haven't residents in the effected area been notified of this new application as with the other application? Rather sneaky no? Especially for our local councillor who was incredibly interested the first time round and now not to mention anything until someone else spotted the application on the planning website. Shame on you Mr Barber!

Surely it's not so much as a "need" but a general wish list?

Noting your new email campaign for this "new school" business James, is there somewhere to register if we do not want a school on the hospital site? I would have thought, given the current threat to Lewisham A&E and that Kings is already bursting, consideration and future planning for further healthcare should be in place and the hospital space would be ideal and more appropriate rather than a school. Afterall, over the years, if schools werent closed in the first place there would have been plenty of space for LOCAL people. No?

This sort of action isn't really "cloning". Yes the card details are captured but it's not as if there is someone walking around with an exact copy of your card. Banks at this time of year can be over cautious at this time of year especially if you are shopping from places, paying with card, that you haven't shopped in before. Usually local places flag up rather quickly. Banks know you're usual habits of shopping and when things change (as with anything) it doesn't like it. It also depends on the shops payment set up and how up to date their C&P machines are. There has been a lot of development this last year with card payment secuirty which many smaller businesses are probably not aware of, not up to date with the latest software or simply don't have the facilities (money) to be update to date. It's an expensive thing this payment thing for small businesses. It is also worth considering how you use your card - if you use your card more than once in the same place on the same day this may flag up with the bank and could potentially stop your card. I had fraudulent activity on my card last week - 36 transactions made in half an hour most of which were ?1 transactions in succession (testing the acount) and then some mobile phone top ups. The fraud department advised it was from an american company - one I've never heard of let alone used - upon googling said company it turns out there are a lot of complaints against said company and is known to be fraudulent yet continues to operate... Apparently it was "triggered", without wishing to scare monger here, after a payment through Facebook which I had made earlier in the day which was supposed to be secure.

They cost more to make in money and resource, they cost a hell of a lot to buy and run (takes longer for the bulbs to warm up to give off the same amount of light, they don't work as well having to be replaced more frequently... hmmmm

Have to say I'm in agreement with Penguin here (don't ask me why?!!!) You (generally not personally as in like many ED residents currently do) could also consider purchasing and using curtains/blinds/shutters when dark instead of having your living space fully illuminated for the whole street to have a good peek at your ridiculously huge telly, laptop, computer, state of the art sound system etc... may as well stick all your belongings on the street with a "help yourselves" sign!

I don't however get upset by those kind of ads and contemplate boycotting the product (not that the product is that good in the first place!) I simply choose to ignore it. I don't like ads and I find myself hating myself for creating the odd one or two myself... it's so demeaning! ;-)
