So sorry to hear and I hope that the cyclist recovers quickly and is not put off cycling. I was left for dead in a hit Nd run many years ago, people stopped and came to my aid and one drove me home with the wrecked bike. There will be CCTV the police should check. If you are in contact with the cyclist then the Motor Insurance Buteau should provide compensation, particularly if there were eye witnesses

What jab? I had them many years ago to little or no effect. I never went for the allergy testing where they jab you with various pollens to work out what sets you off. Rely of tablets nowadays, so much better than the old days of piriton which sent me to sleep. June use to be hell from mid teens.

I can do the research but are more people watching cricket on TV now it went to the higher bidder or in 05 when it was on Channel 4? I think that less kids are into cricket since it went off terrestrial. I suppose I should have had TMS on.

Dangers of current levels of air pollution in the UK

Smokeless still allowed. Wood should also be appropriately seasoned. I expect far more issues with people burning dodgy wood. -
General view is it is tokenistic from Iran, not looking to harm life but show that they are retaliating. Same thing happened after the earlier Israeli attack back in the distant part. There will be debate, even at the top of the Iranian authorities. Israel even without the US hold the cards. Although are in this position due to decades of US support. As per my post on the other thread much of the reason the world is in this position is botched US post second world war middle East policy. Supporting both sides in the Iran/Iraq war being particularly striking Trump mark 1 emboldened the right wing in Israel, perhaps pushed Hammas to more extreme action, and led to the Iranians going rogue on nukes. I think that the latter was to put them in a stronger position in opening up grade, a country not able to sell vast quantities of oil ,(and gas?) But how does the world move on from this mess? By all means give other views to my simplistic ones

Separate subject floating bus stops but the review has shown that safety standards are fine. https://content.tfl.gov.uk/bus-stop-bypass-safety-review-2024.pdf We could all post videos of road users behaving badly, there are zillions of ones of drivers being rrrsses. I prefer proper evidence. From the above report the acknowledgement of concerns about cyclists not stopping: "The video observations showed that when a pedestrian was at the zebra crossing, it was rare this coincided with a cyclist nearby on the track. Nevertheless, when there was an interaction, a significant proportion of cyclists did not yield to pedestrians at the zebra crossings as they should. Although not statistically significant, these observations align with concerns raised about people cycling not giving way at the bus stop bypass zebra crossings" Wording could be a little clearer. No doubt more could and should be done re:cyclist behaviour, this isn't just about floating bus stops I hasten to add.

I'm tempted to tally up posts from individuals on certain subjects. But that would be (a) ridiculously time consuming (b) sad (c) outcome wouldn't be surprising

2 weeks ago a driver pulled out on Champion Hill without looking and narrowly missed a cyclist in front of me. She didn't even acknowledge or apologise for her mistake. This morning a van driver shot past me going down hill on Underhill, and then braked in front of me as he headed towards stationary traffic. I politely asked him what was the point of that. There are in deed inconsiderate drivers everywhere

Dulwich Park bridge closed for over a year - why?
malumbu replied to ab29's topic in Roads & Transport
No there are lots of words in the response, whole sentences and even paragraphs. You are using this thread to have a go about the LTN. There are already several threads doing this, not sure why you need another one. -
https://responsiblestatecraft.org/iran-nuclear-deal/ Useful article on how Trump withdrawing from the Iran nukes deal helped lead to the current situation. And a 2018 article from Beeb Can't reverse history but why has the world forgotten Trump version 1 dreadful decision https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-43902372.amp

Dangers of current levels of air pollution in the UK
malumbu replied to Sue's topic in Roads & Transport
I try to avoid us Vs them. But (a) those that say they care about air quality yet don't want restrictions (b) those that don't really care about air quality but use it as a reason not to have any restrictions such as measures that could lead to more traffic on main roads, frustrates me. Thus is about smarter journeys. That can include sharing journeys, something many are resistant against. So less vehicles on the road. The one that really gets me is those, still, opposed to the ULEZ. Including those that have anti ULEZ stickers on compliant vehicles. -
Like assisted dying lets have a proper debate and process in both houses.

They have to balance the buyer's wish and getting a swift sale, but yes at the end of the day they will take a small hit. But this is the nature of the market and a case to move to a better system rather than demonise estate agents.

Dangers of current levels of air pollution in the UK

I was talking to my friend Nige about this when I was having a drink in Keston the other day. He was concerned that this foreign sand is taking the place of good old fashioned British sand. If he ever became King or President he would ban all this foreign sand, getting great big wind machines at the border to blow it back where it came from. I was also talking about how much I missed the fine ash we'd get over outdoor surfaces in the autumn. I think foreign sand may have replaced this, which we were both disgusted about. He informed me that the ban on burning stubble was all a woke conspiracy and that was another thing he would reinstate when Emperor of the British Empire. I can talk bollox too! For younger readers here is an article about burning stubble https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stubble_burning There was a lot of resistance when the ban was proposed, coming into effect, in the UK, in 1993 More relevant is the possibility of 100s of deaths due to the current heatwave. Likely to be more common in years to come and could exceed annual deaths associated with poor air quality. -

You are being to kind. complaint is still a complaint. Some use anything and everything as a stick to beat Southwark with. Anyway it would be interesting to hear how the events went. I fear that many of us never participate in community events. Same can be said about my Street WhatsApp. I put many nature reserve, cemetery, park community group, open house/gardens on my calender. We are spoiled for choice here. -

This thread just shows what has happened to the forum, somebody posts some events that look excellent, then the first post is a complaint. I'm not commenting on the start of summer. Shame it wasn't advertised earlier, and that it isn't a bit cooler today. I'm off to the solstice do at One Tree Hill a little later. Looking forward to hearing loads of complaints. Think it is just Southwark side of the border, perhaps that could be discussed 😃 -
I take it you are not a fan of Lime bikes. This is as much about crime and anti social behaviour. The concept of hire bikes is great. Many love them. There needs to be improvements to address some of the issues

What's your point? There was a position, it has changed following a report. That happens. Surely you will be glad that there is now an inquiry. You sound quite an angry person. There was absolutely no point in posting the names unless you are expecting some sort of vigilante action against those MPs. Instead you could have articulated your views. Or just given links to the right wing and even more right wing parties that are having a hay day over this.
