  1. I haven't got any knotweed, I can't hear any drumming and there aren't any coaches on my street. So there are worse off people, Seabag, I feel left out.

    W.I.

What did people think about the meeting to form the new W.I.?
  3. I've tried Ancestry. It gave results which were accurate as far as I know and it was interesting. But since I know very little about it all and haven't tried anyone else, I can't really judge. There are cheaper ones than Ancestry around now, so perhaps you should try them first?
  4. Perhaps I'm the only one who didn't know that Lewisham and Kings are different districts and have no communication with each other. I had an appointment at Lewisham Hospital (a shorter waiting list than Kings) only to have my symptoms dismissed. I was surprised, since I'd had a scan confirming the problem done at Kings. But it seems that notes don't get passed from here to Lewisham, different bits of the NHS Had I known this, I'd have taken a a paper copy with me. So I've had nearly a year of the problems because no-one at my GPs or Lewisham saw fit to tell me this simple fact. In my innocence I thought "Computerised Records" and "21st Century" instead of "Paper records" and "19th century".
  5. Sukebind be mostly a-grummetted up and tis lonesome times mollocking alone.
  6. Aye, Robert Poste's Child. I imagine a mort of junketing and prancing when that there ring do be a-gleaming and a-winking in it's liddle box. Sorry, just finished "Conference at Cold Comfort Farm". Not as good.
  7. tomskip is quite right. Why on earth the Co-Op didn't seize the opportunity when Iceland left is beyond me. Most retailers would ave thought Christmas had come early. M&S is great for some things, but it's not a comprehensive shop.
  8. We went and chose the ring together. It seemed rather a big thing not to have a say in
  9. OK, so the new classrooms are replacements. That doesn't alter the fact that MOL can be reversed. Of course, if anyone who wanted to make a point was prepared to park legally along Townley Rd every day so there wasn't room for the coaches, this might get the point home.
  10. Alleyn's grounds are classed as Metropolitan Open Land in Southwark's Open Space Strategy. MOL is the same as Green Belt, in effect. This doesn't mean it can't ever be altered, so creating parking space doesn't seem unreasonable to me. They've just built new classrooms there, after all.
  11. I've heard that Rye Books is moving to North X Rd
  12. Typical ED Form approach to a serious matter to pick on semantics (ie. aren't I clever, I spotted this) rather than the subject.
  13. I would like to support the Co-Op as a local, convenient, reasonably priced ( unlike M&S), long established shop, and try and do so, but the last lot of meat I bought there was past it's sell by date, as I only noticed when I got home. So my support is a bit uncertain.
  14. And, you're entitled, obviously. Otherwise why spend all that money?

    Solar panels

Hi. We've got them for water and energy The plus is, they provide lots of hot water and payments for what we feed in. In fact, for just two of us, they provide too much hot water and we have to drain it off. The minus. They were expensive and you'd have to know you'll be in this house long enough for them to pay for themselves. Also we've had a couple of calls out for bits not working and one expensive service, to set against the profits.. I wouldn't have them again if we move. I don't think we'll ever be living anywhere ever again for long enough for them to pay for themselves. If you're happy that they're helping the environment, that's another consideration. Also , if you decide to go ahead, bargain with the company. After we'd started going into it, different companies started contacting us with different prices and salesman we choose brought the price down when we wavered..
  16. I know someone who painted a single white line in front of his drive. I am not, of course, condoning such behaviour, but it worked.
  17. I'll second Rye one of the most attractive towns you'll find. But not much there for a toddler, perhaps, since it is a town. Also Rochester, straight through train from Denmark Hill. This also is a town and 20 months is perhaps too young to fully appreciate the Dickens connections Leigh on Sea. A bit of a walk from the station but interesting. Beach, fish and chips, shops up the hill. Eltham Palace (English heritage) is only just past Lewisham with gardens to run around in. Hever castle
  18. Can anyone recommend a pigeon proof bird feeder? The two who hang round my garden are as ft as chickens and I would like our wren and the great-tits to get a share. I've tried one of those sort of double wire affairs, but they seem to be able to poke their heads through and get the seed
  19. Our neighbour sprayed his front garden with fox repellent. It may or may not have worked, but unfortunately it smelled even worse than the foxes.
  20. Could we have a clue? Street name perhaps?
  21. Dogs. How is it that every dog owner is nice, clean, considerate, and if, they are to believed, has had their dog surgically fitted with a cork so that it never never relieves itself anywhere but at home Yet Goose Green is a dog's toilet and the pavements aren't exactly free of dog mess.
  22. Wonderful. Just the thing. Where can I get a stuffed one?
  23. Thanks, dc, but no, I was hoping for something like Wolfie or A Gull etc (it's for a Christmas present for a young follower)
  24. Can someone tell me if DH have a mascot? An animal or similar?
  25. Two boys sharing the same bike have just come within inches of killing themselves at the junction of Townley Rd. by Alleyns at about 7.15 tonight, when they swerved across the crossing without warning right in front of an oncoming car. It's put years on my life and the poor car driver is probably still shaking. Looked as if they were wearing sports/football kit. Possibly Alleyns' pupils? If you think you know them, explain what a car will do to a human body if it encounters one at about 20 miles an hour.
