  1. i miss morse code, now there was a way to chat up a young lady girl guide.
  2. How about 'The French Horn' this was the name of one of the original Dulwich Pubs (in the Village, roughly where Barclays Bank is today). Should help the old entente cordial.
  3. Just google 'french military victories' and hit 'I feel lucky'
  4. Best way to start the day indeed. You know the French do exactly the same and look at their 'Tiger' economy and high standard standard of living. Makes you wonder who won the war eh?
  5. I ate there once but many called it the Moon.
  6. Are the after effects lasting then?? Or is it just you?
  7. Isn't there a garden centre there then?
  8. Jah probably remembers the days when dentists used proper drugs to get over the pain of, eh, oh yeah, toothache. Nanny State indeed HonaloochieB
  9. Kid's in Sainsbury's!!!, quelle 'orror.
  10. Might be, perhaps the mobile phone companies were not offering them enough money. I mean, the Dulwich Estate wouldn't want anyone to think they were a charity. Oh, they are! No I wondered if it was local pressure from residents or schools, the reception in some places, particulerly Sydenham Hill is rubbish and I don't think it's the Estate particularly I believe they have agreed to let one go up on a playing field somewhere remote. But there are a lot of schools in SE21 and I wondered if this made a difference, harmfulness proven or unproven, does anyone know?
  11. Just looking at those maps of masts. It looks like there are no masts in SE21. Thats the posh bit of Dulwich for those of you who don't know. If this is the case it must be the only postcode in London without any masts. Do they know something we don't?

I think so, his fish (almost any fish he cooks) is really good. Sometimes the beefs a bit well done for my taste but other than that I've not had a bad meal there. As I say it might suit an older generation rather than a younger one.
  13. A two for one fight
  14. isn't there a libary there? or am i making that up?
  15. If she likes it proper old stylee try Le Moulin in LL just near the Plough. My ageing relatives love it up there and you get loads. It's a bit 1970's but thats part of the charm.

The trouble with the building societies (and anyone else who puts out 'reports' on the housing market) is that they have their own agenda, ie they put what they want the public and the government to hear. Lies, damned lies and statistics. The things is that the market is very predictable after the event, but the reality is that no one knows what is going to happen and unlikely as it probably is it could all change very quickly. Mind you I could have my own agenda.
  17. I heard a great story that years ago in the houses of parliment, you know the bit with the statues where the general public can go when they are on a tour. A very posh Labour peer saw Neil Kinnock and shouted across across the hall 'Neil'. Whereupon assembled general public promptly fell to their knees.
  18. Belair park by by the water (Effra River?) and Sunray Gardens but it can be a bit noisy there.
  19. Stamp duty is probably the cheapest tax to collect hence the enthusiasm of HMG to continue with this tax on taxed income. But if the intention of new labour was to calm down the property market they should be paid a bonus. It seems perverse and wrong to charge buyers a tax for purchase although the lenders do very nicely from this thank you. Surely it would make more sense to charge the seller stamp duty. They have almost certainly made a tax free profit on their sale. Knowing this government they?ll probably charge stamp duty on both buyer and seller. As for the agents, shouldn?t they get more money for being able to sell in this market? I might be slightly biased but it would seem they deserve more rather than less.
  20. 'ello boyo, yakky dah and all that. My, very good, Welsh friends tell me they are actually English, as when the barbarians invaded (Vikings etc) they pushed the original engish westwards. So the Welsh are the true 'natives' of the British Isles and the rest of you are johnny come lately's. www.museumwales.ac.uk/ if you're down there go, it's brilliant.
  21. I've met a few on the game
  22. We could give 'em the chop
