  1. It 'could' happen anywhere in London, but if it happened in Dalston or Hackney there wouldn't be much point in posting it on the EDF.
  2. Perhaps its time ED mothers started using those 'sling' things instead - I hear its wonderful for bonding and takes up far less pavement space. Probably also very good for toning your stomach muscles too. Then if Franklins can start to sell Yak milk perhaps ED can move to yet another demographic. Totnes would be a good example - yoga, local currency..............
  3. Were any of these women raped? Did any of these women ask if the man was married? Did any of them insist on using a condom as obviously they did not know this man very well? If a woman shags a man about which she knows nothing or little, without using a condom, then she is taking a risk with her sexual health. 6 of one and half dozen of the other IMO.

Incidentally that is the same for me - certainly not middle class and full of families in 1985.

Randy as hell and being reckless is NOT the same as " an individual purposely spreading a > life-threatening STD, among other things" Such comments are inflammatory at the least!
  7. FelicityNormal Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It involves an individual purposely spreading a > life-threatening STD, among other things. Whoa - that's a pretty damning accusation! Do you have proof of this? If so then surely that is a criminal offence and should be reported. If not....................
  8. Oh God - I'm obviously too old and ugly to be letched at and too unobservant to have have noticed it happening to anyone else! Doh!
  9. As a non parent I have no objection to breast feeding in public, it is certainly preferable to screams of hunger, however there can be no excuse for changing a nappy in an area where food is being eaten. It is rude, thoughtless and unhygenic.
  10. Maybe somewhere to sign on .................... saves going to Peckham.
  11. I've never been to Bromley!
  12. Does East Dulwich have a local Identity? How would you describe the place? White upper working/lower middle class. How dare you!!! - just getting that in before Dulwichmum does!
  13. LuvPeckham - I couldn't agree with you more - however I think it will take a lot more than inspiration - it will also take education. I didn't learn to cook at school (did Latin instead!!) and my mother couldn't cook for love nor money, so I had to teach myself - however luckily for me, I enjoy good food and learnt that making it was a lot cheaper and a lot more satisfying than the alternatives. But that's me - other people with a "food is fuel attitude" may feel differently.
  14. That's not FAIR - they may have TWO and we don't even have ONE......................
  15. I was told that a Waitrose was opening in East Croydon right by the railway station replacing a Scummerfield - if East Dulwich is not right for Waitrose then goodness knows how it will go down in Croydon.
  16. I LOVE butter and cheese and NOTHING is going to stop me - however I do not eat cakes, biscuits, pies, chips or crisps so hope that the fat police won't get me.
  17. Moos - thanks!! I sometimes take my life into my hands crossing at the pedestrian crossing at the corner of East Dulwich Grove and Melbourne Grove - sorry car drivers for getting in your way as I try and make my way to the train station!

Careful - some nurse nearly lost her job for offering to pray for a patient!

  21. Not that I don't think snoozequeen1 has got a point, but what is so unpleasant about this scam is that it is happening on our doorsteps. This woman is knocking on our doors and invading our private space and THEN asking for money - and it would seem at some very anti-social times of day when we are not at our best. I know this sounds a bit NIMBY but its the feeling uneasy in the very place where you should feel safe that I feel so unhappy about.
  22. Dez Wrote: > Wonderful but I can't see Waitrose opening a store > around here as they're generally found in better > locations and I think ED is still a bit tatty. IMO They've opened one in Clapham Junction - I think of that as being a bit tatty!
  23. I suppose it depends on the foods you buy - I got a Parmesan from either Morrisons or Asda and it was so mild it wasn't worth bothering with, I'd rather spend a bit more and have something that tastes like its actually come from Italy. As I can't afford to eat out any more I'd rather spend more on what I eat at home. M&S - now that IS expensive and seems to mainly consist of chicken ready meals and oaked chardonnay - again each to their own.
  24. Really enjoyed Slumdog, thought Benjamin Button was pants (although if you liked Forrest Gump you'll be in for a treat).
  25. Actually Waitrose is not that expensive, and the quality of the food and wine is excellent. I have found their staff to be helpful and knowledgeable (unlike those at either Sainsburys or Scummerfield) and the shelves always seemed stocked (also unlike those at S or S). My only concern is that a Waitrose would be in much greater competition with favourites such as SMBS and other delis in the area than Somerfield and I would not like those local shops suffering. Its not going to happen anyway ..............
