Plimsoul - good move on your part. I must say I think it would be appreciated if the surgery could have an open evening so that grudges can be aired and to advertise it on the forum. I have wished to complain various times but fear (sadly) that if I get a 'reputation' as a 'difficult patient' then a bad service will be deliberately made even worse. It has come to pass that I don't even ring up unless I really am worried about my health and have been guilty of letting small problems exacerbate in the meantime. However maybe the whole point is to make the whole experience so dreadful you just don't use it unless you really need it.

Walking in South East London
Cassius replied to Lost Yorkshire Man's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
http://www.walklondon.org.uk/leaflets.asp Have done a few of these myself - there are also some good books about walking in the area. -
Hi Bathsheba - a truely aweful experience, however one strange thing, your notes couldn't have been 'somewhere else' as I believe at least the last 2-3 years (it may be more) of your patient history have been uploaded and are online on the screen on their desks!! I find it very hard to believe that he wouldn't have known this. Again I would like to re-iterate that Drs Ackland and Johnson are still good enough to keep me at that practice no matter what.

Damn - a size 37.................

I'll be dead - why on earth should I care? although I have considered the music to accompany my casket into the fire to be the Clash 'Straight to Hell' but I am sure I am not the only one.

Well it was pretty packed for the football - obviously people are prepared to support local pubs but can't do so on a regular basis. Not everyone can afford to drink in a pub every night, even a couple of pints would put you back a fiver.

So does this mean that the Lordship Lane Lothario doesn't exist? Goodness that's a relief, I'll be able to look men in the eye again (tu)

I always thought I'd love to say that my weakness was the fact that I married for love not for money otherwise I wouldn't need to be at this interview.

New Restaurant opening on Forest Hill Road

Sorry off topic - wow louisiana - the Lycian way. Do please report back when you have been, I stayed near part of the route outside Kalkan and thought that would make a fantasic holiday. I hope you have a marvellous time. -
The report gives the frightening statistic of increasing your chance of getting throat cancer BY 44%, but another site says that approximately 375 women a year are diagnosed in this country with throat cancer................. you do the maths.

In Greece they put up icons - unfortunately there are so many accidents in some places there are icons everywhere. When you don't know about it you stare at them as you drive past - probably causing another accident and yet another icon.

I was - until I read this one..........

Jack Russells can be vicious - weren't they bred for getting foxes out from their lairs? - yet look cute and very safe (until they nip you). Still at least I guess they would find it hard to reach as high as your throat!

Excellent post from the Palmerston - perhaps people won't be willing to cast such stones under the guise of the anonymity of the internet when they actually get explanations from the people they are so happy to slag off. Incidentally really glad to hear you were so busy - good news that local businesses are doing well.
-
But Brendan maybe we are the only ones who could actually INVENT such a game!

In my lifetime I've been told that eggs are good for you, then eggs are bad for you and now eggs are good for you again. For eggs read wine, guiness, coffee, tea, this, that and finally the other. As long as I look and feel good I am going to ignore all these reports - in fact I would say the only really bad thing for you are miserable po-faced gits on tv telling you how to lead your life - looking like they've never had any fun in their entire lives themselves. Well a pox on them all I say.
-
I was going to say cricket; the love of a game that can last for 5 days and end in a draw, where you can have almost as much fun sitting under an umbrella during a rain break having a drink as you can watching the actual game, and actually wanting the best team, not necessarily your team to win; but maybe that's English and not British.

Not to mention cinema evenings, choirs ..........................

Hi Mick - although I do sympathise - had I gone to the Herne for a quick drink before Sunday lunch I might have been passing by as the shooting happened, but you simply cannot let these things affect you and your life. I was mugged at Elephant and Castle and although I was very shaken, I knew I had to continue using the buses and the tube in that area. If violence affects our lives then the perpetrators of such violence are winning the fight against decent behaviour.

Turkish cuisine has some of the best vegetarian food around - apparently there are over 100 aubergine dishes - so I'd love to see more choice for those of us who don't want to eat grilled meat (however delicious it might smell!) -
The pubs were old fashioned but the clientele were diamond geezers of all classes and colour. Classic.

What the hell is going on on Barry Road? (shooting)
Cassius replied to TonyQuinn's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
"I'd like to repeat exactly what Dave, UK just said. Only I'd like to add that I'd put a Berlin Wall type structure round Peckham (since the area has nothing of any interest inside it) and put them all inside it. - Sarah Bradshaw, Enfield, Middx" Well obviously living in Enfield you'd know all about Peckham wouldn't you Sarah! -

"A police source said: "People think this is a really nice area and it is, superficially at least, but they have no idea. It is ten minutes from Peckham and the area is rife with crime." Well that's told us then.......... -

I don't think anyone is naive enough not to realise that shootings can and do happen in different areas, however when it IS right on your doorstep as it were, it does make one think more about it. I often go for a quick drink at the Herne on a Sunday lunchtime, and could have been walking past as it happened. That is not to say that a shooting in North, East or West London or anywhere else is not as dreadful or as tragic for the victim's family but the immediacy of it happening so close is worrying. -

Thought something has happened when we saw the 197 going down LL. So sorry that this is such a serious matter and my thoughts are with the victims family and friends. So sad this has happened anywhere to anyone.
