  1. I was tempted by The Wire, but 5 nights a week for a couple of months or so is a bit of an investment to make.
  2. An American auditor from Head Office (a perfumery company) many years ago claimed for a 30p bus ride - I thought that was pretty outrageous but possibly not in the same way as the OP intended.
  3. Mad Men - seriously good series about advertising in 1950's.
  4. Back of the melon van from Kalkan to the village we were staying in (not very comfortable sitting on melons)
  5. I moaned about the Montpelier and the bad service I recieved there the one (and still only) time I went in there. The responses I had were mixed, however if others had all concurred that my negative experience was highly unusual I may have put it down to bad luck and given it another chance.

  7. On a silver platter..........
  8. But did they mean 'nasty' as in Lidls are nasty? or 'nasty' in that this particular Lidls is not a very good one?
  9. I know I'm groaning. She must be laughing all the way to the Pizza Express in the village..............
  10. The locksmiths on Lordship Lane are very good - near the Co-op pharmacy.
  11. It was the thought of promenading Italians in their designer clothes with a pizza slice in their hands that got to me.......
  12. My thoughts are with her family and friends.
  13. Sorry admin but just have to say that every town I've been to in Italy (with the possible exception of Venice) have pizzerias. You don't see Italians walking around the streets with a slice of pizza because most continentals take their food seriously (and that includes pizza). Incidentally one of the best pizzas I had was in France (another country of gourmets who also like their pizzas). Now re lordship lane shop gossip - did that woman who was thinking of opening up a Vietnamese restaurant/cafe ever get back to us?
  14. Don't forget NatashaD and Spangles30 - perhaps the four of them could form a one woman band.
  15. Thanks for the warning. Not a nice thing to happen to you, hope that the police can come up with something.
  16. I used to throw conkers out of the top story of the bus at the police to try and knock their hats off (but in my school uniform I looked an angel and blamed the boys at the back of the bus).
  17. If flowers are picked by one person, then they are enjoyed by one person. If flowers are left in the setting of a park then they are enjoyed by many. The parks wouldn't look very pretty if they were stripped bare of their flowers would they?
  18. Picking flowers, dropping, litter, letting dogs foul without clearing up, graffiti. In themselves all small and possibly even petty, but added together can make a difference to the environment in which we live.
  19. I put salt in my mother's tea instead of sugar once ON PURPOSE.
  20. Well if the Fat Duck is anything to go by we have about another 398 complaints to go.

Actually Brendan I think the cricketer was with 2 l's, however like you I do wonder what will be next on the agenda. I have had a great afternoon looking at jrussel's posts on the forum. I do hope he keeps up the good work, he and Louisa can keep me chuckling for hours

    April 1st

As a temp I would definitely be a financial fool if I took the day off.
  23. I've never injured myself in the gym and I've just done my knee in digging the garden..................
  24. Wow - impressive expertise..........
