BlueOne - would like to point out that there are very few (if any) parents with kids at 7.30 on a Saturday morning. It might not be your ideal time to shop but we love it - in and out in under 20 minutes with narrie a buggy in sight!
-
I can't say much about the location but would like to add that several people I know have visited Greece this year and found it to be very much more expensive than it used to be. Not saying don't go, but just to let you know - still lovely but not cheap as chips any more.

I'll second the Nun's Head and they do a good veggie roast too. Not sure if the jazz is still on - if so you might like to park yourselves a bit of a distance away as talking over them can be a bit of an effort (although they are great to listen to)

Shouldn't this thread be concentrating on the fact that someone was attacked at Sainsbury's and is anything going to be done about it and to prevent it happening again in the future rather than concentrating on semantics.......

I'm amazed that her age is given as 47 - I think that means that I have aged about 5 more years than she has since she started Countdown - or perhaps it's just her gift with numbers......

Singing Ringing Tree (the NFT put it on about 15 years ago) Robinson Crusoe Belle and Sebastian White Horses Blue Peter (not allowed to watch Magpie - commercial TV - shudder) Magic Roundabout Some strange programme about people with magic powers - can't remember its name but it was scarey. Banana Splits with the cartoon where the magician takes the shape of animals (size of a mouse/donkey/elephant/whatever)

A new footwear store for East Dulwich

Nah - Jimmy Choo's are OK - but a big vulgar - in my opinion Manolo Blanik rocks.... -
I too have encountered some strange treatment in there - he definitely is a bit eccentric to say the least, and there is something about him that makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. He has never been downright rude, but does seem a bit off-kilter.

Agree with most other choices: Sushi Seafood Noodles (not a chain like Waga's) Creperie (yum yum - although NOT like My Old Dutch - great disappointment) No-one has suggested a pie, mash and eel shop.............. what about our London 'roots'? And please please please NOT a Giraffe........... -
I think a lot of it depends on why you moved to London in the first place, what your loves are and whether London can supply them. I've been in London for over 20 years and came up for clubs, gigs, partying and having a better time than I had in Devon. Then I stayed because I wanted a good job, fantastic choice of theatres, galleries, restaurants and bars. Now I am thinking of moving because I want peace and quiet, to be within spitting distance of the sea and the countryside and to be able to see the stars at night (in other words I am getting older). It is not inevitable for everyone, but I think it is inevitable for me.

Bit late on this one - been away but really interesting reading. I would say that having kids is the best thing ever for some people - and obviously for a lot of people on this forum which is fantastic for them. However was it the best thing ever for the teenage mothers pushing prams on council estates? Was it the best thing ever for Karen Matthews? Was it the best thing ever for that poor woman in Austria forced to have her father's babies? (Name gone - brain still in Italy!) If all the children in the world had parents who thought they were the best thing ever then we would be living in a much happier world than we do - and power to all the loving and thoughtful parents in the world. Incidentally it has never crossed my mind for even a nano-second that I would have children and I truly believe that the responsiblity and pressure of being a 'good' parent would make me very unhappy indeed. Bearing the child is not the hard bit, but bringing a child up to be a loving, kind and responsible adult is (IMO).

Well people over about 36 - 40K (?) per annum are taxed at the same levels as those on thousands per week - not advocating the old 'squeeze the rich until the pips squeak' but maybe a higher rate of 50% on earnings over ?100k per annum would help benefit those on less.

I miss read this one - thought it was some kind of word game - I'm feeling like a beverage - warm, smooth and sexy like a good red wine............. cool and fresh like a glass of sauvignon - that sort of thing.......

I really am in two minds about this - I feel saddened by the downward turn (in my opinion) in patient care from the surgery as a whole, but have found, for the first time in many years, a GP whom I really like and (almost) totally trust. I have to wait a long time to see this particular GP but feel in my particular case that it is worth the wait. Hey ho - what to do........

When I stayed in Israel, it was noticeable how little litter there was in beauty spots - and the young people I was staying with tended to carry bags with them and pick up litter when and where they saw it. Obviously Israel is quite an extreme example but people there were THAT proud of their beautiful country that they were willing to tidy up after others. I did do this for a while when I got back but my civic pride doesn't equal theirs.

I walked across Goose Green early last Saturday morning to pass a seat covered with the debris of a takeaway meal - there was a bin within a couple of meters. I simply do not understand the mentality of people who cannot clear up after themselves.

The programme was the RIBA competition and the house won the prize for best private dwelling.

I brought my complaints up with my GP when I saw him this morning - will have a look at the website when I get the chance.

Hi there It is Jenny Eclair's house and it wasn't on Grand Designs - it won a RIBA - Royal Institute of British Architects (?) award a couple of years ago and was on tv.

I did like a Wimpy beanburger after a heavy night out.

Perhaps we could have a multiplex cinema above it - just like the one that was planned for Crystal Palace!

Zeberdee - I think perhaps you are being a bit unfair about the 'somewhat mercurial senior partner'. She was a very competent doctor and was exceedingly good to me at a difficult point in my life. I guess she was a bit 'old school' and had no patience with those she considered 'swinging the lead', however if she thought you were genuinely ill she would move whatever needed moving to help. However I do agree that her attitudes to other staff was less than professional at times!!

Are there any? I would love to go to a pub with a great juke box. There is one in a pub in Brighton where customers have obviously brought in their own old 7" singles and there is great variety from The Electric Prunes 'I had too much to dream last night' through to Deep Purple and Led Zep. Is there anything like this around and somehow I've missed it? or will I have to pop down on the train again....
