  1. I agree with Benmorg - I have several friends who moved out of London when they had children, they wanted to bring their kids up in a larger house and garden than they could afford in London, and they also perceived their children would have more freedom in the countryside. Whether or not the majority of EDF-ites agree or not, it is/was a powerful reason for many to move away.
  2. What are the other hunting names in the area?
  3. What would they have done if they had seen a crime or worse, a cigarette butt being dropped in the street, would they have put their curries down and dealt with the situation?
  4. I rang the council when the most gi-normous poo was left at the end of my path to my house - they came and removed.
  5. Have fun in Exeter, one of the few places that have nice Wetherspoons pubs! Have a picnic on the Cathedral Close (if still allowed). Avoid the dreadful pizza place on the quayside. But there still is plenty of doggy doo.
  6. Lies, damn lies and statistics.........
  7. Ratty - I already to contribute to your children's education by paying taxes (unless of course you go private and then don't need my contribution!) Edited to add - sorry in retrospect realised this seems a bit pious - maybe I should have added a :)
  8. Someone told me that Dr J works at another practice as well - can anyone confirm/deny that - I would love to change practice and yet still have continuity with my excellent GP.
  9. Surely if you care about the planet then the extinction of the human race can be the best possible outcome. It managed quite happily without us for about 99.999999% of its existence. Bird flu - bring it on.....
  10. That might even tempt me to make it to the drinks for once!
  11. And it begs the question what would it have done to her if it had caught her - I was under the impression that rabbits were vegetarian!
  12. I really like the Magnolia and if there is anyone with more disposable funds than me and is therefore willing to treat me, I will happily try their food and critique it for the forum.
  13. Many apologies just couldn't resist.
  14. "Threshers is pikey chavtastic" ""Chav" is an insult - meaning a particular kind of lout who engages in anti-social behaviour. If you are suggesting that all working-class people are chavs you are insulting the majority of working-class people (including one of my close friends) who most certainly are not." Sorry David - but have to point out that these two comments came from the same person. Sorry Mr Administrator.
  15. I have had three misdirected letters delivered to me in the past week, two were for my road but different numbers and one was for the same house number but in N14.
  16. I reconverted two flats into one house, however the planning permission that had been obtained to convert in the first place still stands.
  17. Dr J is also not 100% well and with all this strain might even retire early - then I would HAVE to find another practice (although the original nurses are great - not the new ones who make you feel they are doing you a favour seeing you).
  18. I have never used the P13 and starting to feel really left out. I don't actually need to use it but might go on a 'joy' ride just for the fun of it!
  19. SteveT Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I do hope you avoid unemployment Ms B it is no fun > at all. > I actually quite like being unemployed - it's the lack of funds that goes with it that is no fun!
  20. Hi Sue I would very much like to move to another surgery but I have a wonderful doctor there that I feel 100% happy and relaxed with - and it has taken me 8 years since I last felt like that. If he leaves/retires I will change, but until then I have a reason to stay.
  21. I think they had to buy the old Magdala wine stock and are selling it off before they concoct their own list (that was the gist that I was told)
  22. Mmmmm - you can get stoned for getting raped in some countries.
  23. Jasmine - I agree that a couple of comments on the thread were a tad unkind, however this is a forum that 'tells it as it is' - not sanitised and (seldom) censored. This means that a variety of points of view will be put forward, some of which you may not agree with. I would honestly rather it was like that than we all roundly praise everywhere and everyone even if praise is not due.
  24. Romans, Ancient Greeks and the Persians to name a few - plus a few Old Testament references (although veiled)
  25. Having a lame song on the brain, after an innocent comment about someone whistling I now have 'Whistle while you work' from "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" going round and round my head.............
