  1. Not any fun now there are no bonfires (or if there are can you let me know where) - it's Bonfire night for fecks sake not Firework night
  2. That comment about John Simm made me think - what about Philip Glenister - he should be able to keep those pesky aliens under control. Can you kick a Dalek to death? - well he probably could! and see those Cyberman quaking at his language!
  3. E&C to Holborn in 25 minutes should just about be do-able (although stretching one somewhat), perhaps the odd trot across roads.
  4. Motherhood may be hard but it is still a choice (usually). You do it knowing what it is going to be like. You didn't HAVE to do it except under very specific circumstances. I think my friends who juggle career, kids etc do a great job and I admire them for it - but they wouldn't expect to be praised for doing what they wanted to do.
  5. I don't like chocolate brownies - am I the only one?
  6. I used to walk from the top end of Chancery Lane to LB and did it in between 20 and 30 minutes. Best to walk along Fleet St to St Pauls, over the un-wobbly bridge and along the riverbank to LB. It's actually a nice walk although probably not fun in the wind and rain.
  7. Boring boring boring boring. Some people choose to have children, some people choose not to. We all have to share the planet and East Dulwich - so we might as well get on with it. Also I cannot see why a child-free group has to be anything to do with singles, lots of people in long term relationships are child-free too. Someone asked either on this thread or the parallel one in ED topics why mothers are in the coffee shops - obviously because they are waiting for the pubs to open and they don't want to be seen queuing outside.
  8. Russell who?
  9. When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was a dating post - you know single inpoverished man seeks.........
  10. What I didn't know is this all happened over a week ago and initially there were only 2 complaints. I now think that it has gone totally over the top. Yes the two of them were insulting and rude and worse in my opinion, totally unfunny (where on earth is the wit and the repartee in saying that you'd f***ed someones grandaughter?) and it wasn't even live, let alone 'cutting edge' - schoolboy humour is not cutting edge. Let's be honest Peter Cook and Dudley Moore were doing this over 25 years ago - and when they did it, it was at least original. However no-one had died, some silly girl has had lots of publicity, Ross. Brand and the BBC have all had to apologise. One women suggested that Brand and Ross should give Sachs a monetary sum that he can give to a charity of his choice - sounds like a good idea to me, and broadcasters should remember in future that not all their audience have the same SOH as them. Brand and Ross are not particuarly popular and I think there has been a lot of bandwagon jumping in the desire to get rid of them (surely the BBC could do more creative things with the cash!). And I am sad to see that Barack Obama has still not commented on the situation - does he not care what is happening over here!
  11. Jon Snow - intelligent, interesting, well-travelled - although I'm not really into grey hair - maybe he is a bit more for the over 50's!
  12. Any Brownies that will clean my windows for less than a tenner will be the best in ED.
  13. I like buses because I can afford them - however if anyone would like to give me a taxi allowance I am sure I could learn to like them again. The last cab I caught from the West End cost me a tenner - so that probably means it was about 15 years ago!
  14. MrBen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Pub = carpets and comfy seats > Bar = None of the above + at least 1 cocktail What about proper old spit and sawdust - not a carpet in sight.
  15. LuvPeckham Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I like the Rye, or if you want to go out of area > for the night, try their sister pub the Bridge in > penge... only a 197 bus ride away ... Or the 176.
  16. I probably bought my poppy from you last year then! I'll look out for you and make sure I get my poppy from you this year as well - can you save me a large one like they wear on the telly!!!!
  17. Mamora Man - do you have a particular 'pitch'? I always buy a poppy or two, and sometimes more as I always lose at least one - I also don't watch X Factor or reality tv but I don't think that the two are connected in any way.
  18. I hate the Beatles so I don't care.
  19. Not been independently to Syria (just mind the bed bugs in Damascus) - however do know that you can have a seperate piece of paper stamped for your Isreali entry and you just slip that into your passport - however that was in the days before 9/11 so things might be less flexible now.
  20. The only downside I could see is that you would be in zone 3 not 2 which can add up.
  21. James Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Probably because people always have a tendency to > 'big up' the area where they live. or maybe they choose to live somewhere they like.
  22. I like them - I think they are strange and beautiful like man made triffids..........
  23. People standing outside my house making really loud mobile phone calls - I really don't want to know all about your private life............
  24. I vote for Baburs even though not actually in ED - I just love the food, the wine, the service, my birthday card with offers...........
