  1. Wouldn't you just wash these things with the rest of the washing up or am I the only person without a dish washer?
  2. So far this week seen blue bins filled with garden rubbish and blue bins already being filled up with bottles and papers and then owner moaned that they weren't taken. Surely its not THAT difficult.
  3. I witnessed similar on the train from London Bridge, just as the doors were about to close at Peckham Rye a lad snatched a phone from a girl making a call and leapt out. Police were called and met the girl and myself at East Dulwich station where we gave statements. I am sure it wasn't the first time he'd done it.
  4. Apart from the inconvenience for those people who do not have Oyster cards and are occasional travellers and who prefer interaction with a human being not a machine, (which will probably be out of order or only taking cards when some of us prefer to pay cash) the main guy who works at the ticket office at ED is absolutely lovely and I would be really sorry if he lost his job. This applies to other staff at other stations too - I hope they are redeployed and not made jobless.
  5. He seems to have been taken off the air - maybe not having an auto cue was too much for him.
  6. I've walked up to Franks several times, once followed by an obviously disturbed and fairly aggressive man who demanded money and cigarettes from us for opening the door to us. We just carried on walking and he gave up - the staff obviously knew who he was when we mentioned it - all part and parcel of the rich tapestry of life. However we still walked out the other way.....

It's a campari bar on a rooftop - which bit > of you intends staying sober? Seconded - after a couple of Negronis I would think driving would be out of the question!
  8. In central Italy all over walls in towns are A4 posters announcing the death of local people, usually with a photo of the deceased. I personally find it quite upsetting especially when the person in question is young, but I suppose it perpetuates a sense of community. They seem to be up for ages, usually only taken down when the space is needed for another poster.
  9. The OP said "I don't originate from East Dulwich. I was born and brought up in Bradford. Yorkshire. A very poor area of Yorkshire. I am the youngest of four children, born from parents who worked every hour they could to support their children. Living in a small 2 & 1/2 bedroomed semi detached house. I shared a room with my two older brothers. Three of us. All of us lived at home till I left for London when I was 21" You had two parents who loved you and supported you - thats a hell of a lot more than a lot of the kids involved in the violence. Your parents also worked and instilled in you the concept of working for a living. You lived in a semi-detached house - not in a council flat or B&B. You lived at home until you were 21 - you were welcome to be there until you were a young adult. You have obviously done well for yourself, but life is in many more shades of grey than your post would seem to recognize.
  10. How many nights can London afford to have 16,000 officers on the streets for?

  12. It's ok for the really slow and the really fast - it's the medium swimmers such as myself that find it a problem, or that they are part of the problem albeit unintentionally. If the pool is busy then I am fustrated in the slow lane, but feel concerned about holding people up in the medium lane. Also I really vary from stroke to stroke but don't want to keep swopping lanes.
  13. LL definitely open to traffic and pedestrians at 4.11
  14. I can see LL from my window - it seems pretty normal for now (apart from closed shops) - traffic and people going in both directions including buses.
  15. Heard that Surrey Quays might be targeted. Police have suggested that Lordship Lane shops prepare to close early.
  16. That there isn't enough of it and it isn't hot enough. Apart from that I love it.
  17. Water was a bit warm Monday morning as well
  18. Agree with the other posters - really useful route (although all the way to Richmond really was a slog), but not enough buses. I have also waited more than 30 minutes on a regular basis and more than an hour a couple of times.
  19. Seconded - a 4 bed house off LL would be available.
  20. Even his lawyer admits that he looks at the world in a different way to normal. To guard against the actions of such a person would only be managed with severe constraints on personal freedoms. I don't think a 100% risk free society can ever be achieved.

But surely if that doesn't impinge on other members of society - because you cannot do your job so someone has to cover, because you have to commit a crime to pay for whatever substance you are indulging in, because your friends and family are adversely affected by your behaviour, or because limited NHS funds have to be used in order to assist you if and when your addiction affects your health. However if you can indulge without affecting anyone else - then why not!
  22. I really don't want to moan about the gym as I appreciate how lucky I am to have one so close to where I live, but I do have to re-iterate how bad the air con is - and not just in the gym. The two studios upstairs are often either freezing or boiling - bad for aerobics if you are too hot and for your muscles if you are doing yoga or pilates in too cold a room.
  23. Cassius - because I was aggressive at school.

    Mr right
