  2. What about Andalucia in Southern Spain - advantage of the Euro (??), shortish and cheapish flight (direct and frequent to Malaga) and has amazing countryside, beautiful cities and some amazing heritage sights - the cities of Seville, Granada and Cordoba are the most well known, but Malaga has an old town too. Then there are some amazing tapas bars/sherry bars plus some good museums. And if you feel like blobbing out on the beach/by the pool then by the end of May that should be possible too.
  3. Yet another recommendation for Kuki hair - love Shingo - and have never come across rudeness.
  4. Hate hate hate RG (even though I loved The Office) Like Bill Bailey.
  5. Terrytibbs and civ911 - both joined on the 24th February and made one post only - in support of LLC. Not at all suspicious!
  6. I have always found the reception staff to be, on the whole, friendly and helpful, although I haven't been for a while. They are badly paid, work long hours, and have to take all the flak for when things go wrong further down the line - I've been guilty myself of getting fustrated with them when it's been the computer system, or the heating, or the class instructor not turning up, when NONE of those things are their fault.
  7. Many thanks for these ideas - I have ordered the Gillian Michaels DVD from Amazon where it got rave reviews, and I've also signed up for fitness blender - looking forward to attempting the 1000 calorie workouts.
  8. At the moment I am unable to manage to get to the gym on a regular basis, can anyone recommend a good exercise DVD. My idea of exercise perfection would be Theo at Fusion ............. so a good mixture of high impact to burn some calories, all over body conditioning and a feeling of satisfaction at the end. Any suggestions really welcome.
  9. Well just finding out about Zeret Kitchen means that this thread has validity to me. Although this subject has been done to death, there are always new forumites, always new restaurants and always new chefs/owners/menus - so it is worth revisiting every now and then.
  10. I think the Mag in the late 80's was pretty rough - wipe your feet on the way out rough.
  11. Totally heartbreaking - puts one's own problmes into perspective.
  12. Vinyl - mmm I think something by Garry Glitter (ah the days of innocence) CD - probably something that HMV were doing 3 for ?10 - Lou Reed's Transformer and 2 others Download - don't do

Agreed - Pulp Fiction probably tells you all you need to know about QT and his style of direction. Incidentally the QT section of Sin City was the only one I was able to keep my eyes open during.............

  15. Just want to say that I have used David as my personal trainer, and have nothing but praise for him, and would unreservedly recommend him. He can be quite demanding, but as we know most of us need a bit of pushing, or we wouldn't require his services in the first place!
  16. I don't eat meat but I kill wasps - they appear to be pretty pointless and can cause harm if they sting.
  17. Thread of the Year - surely Iceland and M&S debate - dealing with (ad infinitum) subjects close to our collective hearts.
  18. Shaz - hate to point out the obvious but in 2 years you haven't had a good eating experience at The Plough, it is often roundly criticised on this Forum and you chose to go there on Christmas Day....................... I know Christmas is the time of peace and goodwill to all but was it necessary to extend those hopes to the catering staff of The Plough?
  19. I don't claim proudly to be a vegetarian, I just say that I'd rather not eat meat thank you very much. This does not make me better, smarter or morally superior to anyone else. I really enjoyed Colin Spencer's "The Hererics Feast - The History of Vegetarianism" until the last chapter where the self-satisfied, self-righteous tone got right on my w*** - in fact it was almost enough to make me eat a bacon sarnie. Do what you feel is right for you and let everyone else get on with it.
  20. Bunty and Jackie (especially the summer specials), the Rolf Harris xylophone called the Stylophone, Soda Streams at Christmas.
  21. When you go in the gate at the top of Coxes walk before crossing the bridge the woods to the right are Dulwich and the woods to your left are Sydenham - although it does get more complicated than that. If you follow the nature trail then you are in Sydenham woods. The London Wildlife Trust have volunteers there on Wednesdays and every other Sundays and they can give you more detailed information.
  22. London Wildlife Trust who administer Sydenham Woods (but not Dulwich Woods) insist that dogs are on a lead, this is not popular with the majority of dogwalkers, but that is meant to be the rule. As a former volunteer in the woods, there have been issues with dog owners and the description of the women that the OP gives makes me think that he may have come across one of the serial offenders when letting dogs off the lead even when asked not to do so.
  23. I could never decide if I loved or hated the Gowlett - had some of my best and some of my worst experiences there in the area. Once saw the then publican head-butt an errant punter outside the main doors, yet other times enjoyed great pizza and organic Austrian wine - hey ho..............
  24. A couple of years ago friends and I had lovely Sunday lunches in the Dartmouth, so when we returned a few weeks ago we were amazed at how much it seemed to have gone downhill, both in terms of the food provided and the service offered. One of my friends and I had a veggie Sunday lunch and another had pork, whilst their children had the kids chicken lunch. We ordered a bottle of house red and soft drinks - the waiter said sarcatically 'Is that ALL????', well for all he knew there may have been 2 drivers amongst us. We then waited over 25 minutes for our rather disappointing lunch. My friends then shared a dessert and I asked specifically for my dessert wine to be served at the same time so I could enjoy it with them. The dessert came, my wine didn't and in the end I went up to the counter to ask for it to be told that they hadn't understood my request (WTF). It was such a shame as previously we had enjoyed it so much, but I won't be rushing back.
