They were outbid for that when it went on the market some months ago. The developer who acquired it is letting it sit empty though, which is galling.
  6. When we went just after they 'popped up' they were selling giant scotch eggs and pork pies I think... with the intention of producing a bit more food wise as they progressed. They certainly weren't aiming for gastropub status though, instead concentrating on the beer.
  7. Glad you folks found it. I stuck a recommendation on the "craft beers" thread but didn't think anyone had noticed it. They do very good (and relatively cheap!) wines and whiskies too :) I have heard that they might well be able to renew their 3 month pop-up, plus the initiative comes from a new craft brewery in Penge as I understand it: 'Late Knights Brewery'.

  9. Reeko - look on the bright side :) Just be glad you haven't got Louisa's voice in your lughole at work day in day out....
  10. I LOVE Bian Blessed's voice! Speak to the manager again.
  11. My flat is on the first floor but I there is a fire escape via my back door that leads to the garden - my cat-flap is therefore in the back door. Another possibility would be to see of the other residents would mind you having a cat-flap installed in the communal front door (and one in your front door too obviously). I knew someone once who had constructed miniature steps from a first floor window to the garden on the side-wall of the building - hard to get agreement for that from other residents/leaseholder I would have thought...

Wow..... now you have added a guilt trip into the proceedings. Well done!
  13. Stats are marvelous guys, but here's something for you: In my 50 years I have been hit by a car not once but I have been knocked flying as a kid on a pavement by a man on a bike pelting down that pavement (and have the scars to prove it) , I have had a cyclist hit me on a pedestrian crossing and I have had to dodge out of the way of cyclists on pavements and careering through red lights on crossings countless times. Fact. I have nothing against cyclists who cycle safely and courteously, the rest I would like to see rounded up and tarred and feathered (and that's just for starters!).

And if the extra powers mean that whoever poisoned the minds of these foolish young men is brought to book, I for one, will be relieved.

Was with you until that last paragraph She was astonishingly brave and I hope she goes on to have a good life despite her shitty experience. I am afraid your cynical ennui goes a step too far and does you no credit - although I am sure that will bother you not one jot.
  16. If you fancy a change of scenery the new Crystal Palace Food Market (just off the triangle down Haynes Lane) has some great street food - including 'flying tapas' and 'mass ass chilli' this Saturday. Get there early though as it's pretty popular: http://us5.campaign-archive1.com/?u=e6516d3de26be388708691d63&id=a64a996ec0

I don't understand. I didn't suggest you had, did I? Evidence presented via the media natch - like all of us I have no other knowledge base.
  21. Because I absolutely don't think they did it, both from their demeanours, their behaviour since and the evidence. As for whether they should have been charged with child neglect then so should my loving parents in that case - we were left in bedrooms in Pontins like the other nippers whilst the parents were out in the entertainments areas, nothing was thought of it. Still really hope that Madeline and any other missing kids are found - can't imagine anyone else thinking otherwise.

  23. Christ - what a fecking dismal thread :( Life is what you make it - fill it with dismal thoughts and you reap what you sow. We have shoes on our feet and food in our mouths - anything else is a bonus. My highlight so far is sitting in the Grape and Grain in Crystal Palace with great friends listening to stupendous live jazz. Many months to go :)
  24. God almighty - the cat will be fine (and this is from a cat lover).
