  1. This is a somewhat pointless thread TBH - those that routinely cycle on pavements won't admit, or even realise, that what they are doing puts pedestrians at risk and will carry on regardless as they feel safer on pavements. As for reporting people that collide with you and/or call you a c---- if you object to their pelting along pavements towards you it is pretty difficult as they don't stop to give you their details funnily enough. Personally I am ok with kiddies on trikes cycling on pavements as long as an adult is supervising and making sure they don't ride into people or cause them to have to leap out of the way. I don't mind a cyclist using the pavement on occasion to cycle along at a sedate pace as long as there are no pedestrians on the pavement. The ignorant a****oles who pelt along the pavements and through red lights forcing people to jump out of their way and who scream abuse at anyone who objects to their behaviour (and unfortunately there are many, especially in the city) should be strung up by their ankles and have their beloved speed machines crushed and recycled (pun intended).

Shock, horror - you can even get Boots > online! There is considerable doubt that the plans will e ever be realised, together with considerable local opposition. CP'ers like their triangle with its plethora of independent shops. A huge retail area slap bang on top of the lovely park would ruin the area and damage the livelihood of the local traders.
  3. One of the pleasures of living in places like ED or Crystal Palace is that they are not crammed with the usual high street crud, and long may that continue! Bromley is close'ish and has plenty of high street crud, but the 'decent'ish stores have long gone (Alders/Habitat). Croydon is a concrete hell but has more of the main high street crud outlets.
  4. A big happy clappy group hug? Eew.... no thanks. I don't need organised atheism - I am quite happy spending Sundays with friends/family (preferably in the pub!). This all sounds a bit cultish, but if it floats your boat, get on down!

When we had a rat problem a few years ago one of my cats pitched into rat slayer mode, the other two weren't seen for dust!

Oh yes, I know the one but can't recall its name - it's down the Tottenham Court Rd end isn't it?. We used to go years ago, glad it's still there (if it is?).

You got there first. Amazing bar, amazing views. We spent many happy hours there listening to laid back jazz in the glorious sun watching local kids dive off the rocks below and ships sail into the wide blue yonder. Not a place for those with a fear of heights! http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2646/3804863437_7a13fb6ff0_z.jpg
  10. My other half is an estate agent. He says there is no point in putting in a new kitchen/bathroom etc. as most buyers will rip out what you have put in and your money will be wasted. keep it clean, tidy and uncluttered and spend your dosh on your new place.
  11. Red headed and proud of it! (Was blond for most of my life then bought a bottle of 'Mid Life Crisis Red' - have never looked back :) ).

Fair dues, but that is what is currently being proposed.

THe structure > once complete could be used for all manner of uses > from exhibitions. concerts, weddings etc. It might be wonderful as an occasional visitor but many CP locals are against a huge retail space (for that is what it will largely be) being built smack on the top of parkland. The transport infrastructure struggles to cope with CP as it is today, let alone with a whacking great retail/exhibition centre stuck in the middle of it - plus the local, independent businesses in the CP triangle would almost certainly suffer as rents went sky high.
  14. Mixed feelings by the locals - some are excitedly pro, others are vehemently against. It sounds fantastically grand and might look amazing, but would it be filled with Penthouse apartments and a mega shopping mall? There would presumably have to be some kind of return on the investment. Also, the local roads wouldn't be able to cope with the massive influx as they are pretty packed already - plus local traders in the triangle think their businesses would suffer. I live very close to CP Park and am in two minds - it is a lovely park as it is and the proposed structure would swamp it.

This is a good idea. There was a cat-nabber in the the street where I lived years ago - she only stopped when I attached a little luggage label to my cat's collar (falsly) saying she had an infectious skin disease and kidney problems that needed a controlled diet and medication several times daily so please not feed her or take her in.
  16. A sensible enough question for a local forum - hopefully someone will give you a more helpful answer (I would try to assist but I don't live in that area).
  17. Christ... this is a local forum, not the united nations.
  18. Link please? For those of us who don't know what the neck you are all talking about? Ta.
  19. Should we dress our age? Damn - was trying to avoid the beige ensemble.

  21. Someone made a comment about rats in homes being generally associated with them being dirty, which is a load of bunkum frankly. We suffered from a rat problem in our block of flats a few years ago, and my flat is clean as a whistle. We had to call out the council vermin crew who advised that rats were entering homes as they were being driven out of their usual habitats by rising water levels - the rats were evidently entering via the drains and scaling the walls internally. The rat poison went down and we were warned by the vermin crew to expect a surge in rats for a week or two! My cats and I fought a valiant battle over the next 2 weeks before they were slain either by feline or poison. All external entry holes were blocked up and we haven't seen them since. Incidentally, one of the vermin crew said that he had recently acquired a moggie as there had been an increase in rats breaking into nearby homes and trying to find new places to nest as they had been displaced due to demolition works going on nearby.
