Except they exchanged details and even took photo's of each others' licences. Also, the other party departed the 'scene' first. So how an officer could make a report and not get my wife's name correct is astounding to me.

  3. This is getting weirder and weirder. According to the 'Met Police' who wanted my OH's insurance details etc, the incident was reported by an officer who attended the scene. There was no officer at the scene and the other party departed before my wife did. I'm really not sure wtf is going on here. Why would an officer make this up?

  5. I should add that the letter includes a contact name, number and email address. Plus a pre-paid envelope.
  6. My OH was involved in a very minor motoring incident on Barry Rd a few weeks ago. Her wingmirror touched a car door which was being opened roadside as she was passing it. She stopped and they exchanged details. The following day she got a call from the other parties insurance company. No indication from them as to how they were going to proceed, if at all. Now a letter from the Met (Traffic Criminal Justice Unit) has arrived. It quotes the correct car reg number, but not my OH's name. The letter is addressed to her known as name (like a nickname) and her formal first name. No surname. It also refers to an incident on Barry Rd, 50 metres south of the junction with BARRY ROAD. The letter requests she sends (assuming it's her)insurance documentation and a copy of her driving licence. I don't know what to make of this. Anyone have a clue what's going on here?
  7. I've been watching that all week maxxi. I suppose you just happen to come across it?
  8. The 2 guys that came, were here to complete a job that was half done a couple of months ago. I made it clear to the company before the first visit (2 different guys),that we were cautious about Covid and wanted whoever was coming to respect that. They did. Not so this time. Perhaps I should have advised the company that we were still 'cautious', though I shouldn't have needed to. The other guy I've known for a number of years as he has done several jobs for us. I was a bit surprised by him and didn't say anything. Maybe I will next time, as he is due to visit again.
  9. Uruguay beat the USA yesterday to qualify for RWC2023. Chile beat Canada and will now face the US. The winner will qualify too. Good to see that the game is improving in South America. Unfortunately for Uruguay, they will be in the same group as France and NZ. Below is the 2nd leg. Uruguay trailed by 3 from the first.
  10. In the last week I've had 3 tradespeople visit our home. Two to do a job and one to give me advice on another. On meeting them at the door and whenever we had to be in the same room, I wore a mask. None of the three wore a mask, asked if I wanted them to wear masks or commented on why I was wearing a mask. Am I behind the times in thinking this is a bit rude? Ironically one of them has had Covid, and still has little sense of smell or taste.
  11. Cat, you may be interested that there's now a general release of tickets for the Aus & Boks games at Twickenham via England Rugby Club website.
  12. It's all okay lads. We're just transitioning from equilibrium A to equilibrium B, said someone from the Govt. a few days ago. The 'ol HGV crisis is the fault of the haulage industry. Healthcare is your personal responsibility. It's only the Govts' as a last resort. As for the unnecessary slaughtering of pigs, well 'have you ever had a ham sandwich?' was the PM's response in a Ch4 interview. It seems to me that the latest tactic of the Govt. is to blame everyone else. I wonder how long they will get away with that. When a Radio 4 'Today' host tells the PM to 'stop talking', something must be changing. Waffle may no longer do. The brightest moment for me recently was reading (and I've no idea if this is true) that the EU are going to offer UK HGV drivers 5 year visas.
  13. As RD said, online deliveries. Over the last few months I've had deliveries via my Amazon Prime membership from Morrison's in Peckham. All from people who have a car. I don't know what they pay but most of them had what I considered to be very nice cars (I'm no expert) and often from ladies who looked liked they were dressed to go to church. I only say this as I was surprised they needed the income. If you have any interest (or experience) in hospitality, send me a message. I currently work for a small agency and I believe they are always looking for new 'candidates'. There's a shortage. There's undoubtedly work for you out there. Just a case of getting something that suits you.
  14. Can anyone plot a path for the UK out of this mess? I can't see one other than slow and painful, for almost everyone.
  15. When I see 'Genuine question', my reaction is that usually it isn't. How many women murder men? How man men need to take precautions to just get home safely? How many men even have to think like that? This case is so horrific is why it is being reported so widely. How anyone can even ask what they call a 'genuine question' in these circumstances is beyond me.
  16. If a cabbage ever proffered advice other than 'eat me', I'd be worried. I've yet to meet one who has though.

It's unbelievable if true.
  21. You wouldn't imagine that a haulage firm in the UK would go out of business, but this one has: https://twitter.com/hallrjh55/status/1442106712434020353
