  1. In case anyone is interested and doesn't have Amazon Prime, Ch4 will be showing the US Open tennis final live tonight. There may be some local interest involved.

Maybe that's why it was easier to get in? I was only ever at the Oval once. The Saturday of the 1985 Ashes series. I got in because my nephew was one of the rugby playing kids from his school, employed to tackle anyone from the crowd who went on to the pitch. It rained most of the day and I got pi**ed.
  4. From the little I know about this, the main complaint about a rise in NI is that young people will be paying for old people. Yet those old people were once young people, and the current young people will hopefully become old people. So what's wrong with that?
  5. The cocktail........a UK invention "The evolution of the cocktail Nobody is exactly sure when the first ?true? cocktail was created, but by the 1860s the drinks using this name usually included some form of liqueur. Bartenders were introduced to the concept officially in 1862, with the publication of How to Mix Drinks by ?Professor? Jerry Thomas, which included ten recipes for ?cocktails?, differentiated from the other drinks in the manual by the introduction of bitters. This charismatic American author and bartender helped to solidify the cocktail?s reputation as an overwhelmingly US-based invention, with a sophistication unmatched by early UK variants. However, the principles behind the cocktail originate far earlier, with some considering London punch-house proprietor James Ashley, who mastered his craft between 1731-1776, as the first to pioneer the mixology which led to the creation of the first ever cocktail."
  6. I'm pretty sure the answer to that is yes. I think there's a sign at the Lordship Lane end of it.

  8. For every tat there's a tit.
  9. We are where we are. I interpret that to mean that "we f**ked up, but lets ignore it".

  11. I've often wondered why so many people say 'we was' in England. Is it the lack of a good education?

  15. I already replied to the thread you had already started. I'm curious. What made you begin a 2nd one?
  16. I use Virgin Media and just ran a test. The download speed was 132.85 and the upload was 21.12. I find their service is reliable. You could perhaps compare your speeds using speedtest.net?

  18. English brethren? I think myself and JohnL may wonder who you are talking to on this thread?
  19. My unresearched theory is that they were being filmed for a movie.
  20. I expect The game in NZ will be far more entertaining than the one in SA. I saw some of the Aus v Fra series and there was some very entertaining stuff played there.
  21. Well I found the 'joke' amusing. However, I get the impression from other posts that I really should disapprove of it, but I'm not sure why. If that's the case would someone please explain or is it simply because my comedy bar is set too low?
  22. Two key players missing for the Boks is a big plus. I reckon the stoppages was a SA ploy to slow it down.
  23. Any thoughts on the 3rd Test? The 2nd half of the 2nd one was a bit of a shock.
  24. I'm in too and straight to the top of the table! Now just have to stay there.....
