It was the perfect storm...a triangle consisting of a well connected tube station, half decent curry house, and a late night drinking venue. I'm surprised it's not known as the Stockwell Triangle, because when you woke up on a Saturday morning all your money had mysteriously disappeared...

  4. It's a good deal if you're a regular punter, esp if you don't mind doing accies. I often do accies on the football, so I will look into it more later. Thx for the heads up ????...
  5. I've just been on the site. I'm with Meds on this one. My understanding is you have to place a weekly ?5 bet (accie > 5/1). This then qualifies you for another ?5 bet, not a refund in the true sense of the word. The additional ?5 bet has to be spent in Skybet, and not taken out of the account. So in effect you are getting 2 ?5 bets for the price of one. Or have I missed something bleedingly obvious! :)

Most beams used for loft extensions sit perpendicular to the party wall(s). And it doesn't have to be excessively noisy to put one in. Carefully remove inner skin of bricks (by hand), form concrete padstone to rest beam on, make good. A beam used to support a chimney breast that has been removed, will run parallel to the party wall, usually sitting adjacent to the wall, bearing on internal/external walls inside the owners property. Excessive noise tends to be generated by other activities...

There must be, the Spanish bar I often ended up in with work mates looked a lot less plush, had live Flamenco dancing...ole! More of a boozer than a bar, the Golden Heart on Commercial Street always has and hopefully always will be a great place for a drink. In theory yes (FFP permitting), but I think in City's case it's more to do with the change of manager and/or the board making those funds available. Last year City were hopeless in the transfer window, which showed in the League...

I'm on a roll Jah after my Fergie prediction last season. I'm actually thinking more along the lines of Arsenal not getting into the Champions League, cue revolting Gooners (pun intended)...
  16. This thread is getting a bit like 'what is your favourite album'. It tends to be one that defines a memorable time in one's life, all very retrospective thru rose tinted glasses, rather than the bar/album actually being any good. I very much doubt I would go into a Baa Bar now (it's since become a small chain of bars), a case of right time, right place...
  17. Agree, although I don't think that applies to the typical ED street. More likely in contextually sensitive areas like Dulwich....

Precedent is often over-egged. Planning Law constantly gets amended over time, so what has been allowed in the past doesn't mean it will be allowed now, or in the future. Current planning thinking is that front dormers are definitely to be frowned upon...

I'm fully aware that pikey and Gypsy are different. Pikey is a derogatory term for a traveller. You or I could become travellers, whereas we couldn;t become Gypises for the reason you correctly explained. I was referring to derogatory terms in general. I could've addeed many more examples. You threw in the term thinking it would somehow reinforce your alarmist rhetoric. It didn't. Therefore IMO it wasn't a 'well put' argument...
