  1. I was fined for parking here a couple of momths ago. I have parked there for years and didn't relate the new lines to the crossing at all. My car back wheels were not on the zog zag. I didnt challenge it and paid up- but i didnt get any points either which you would usually gey fromparking on a crossing. So i think a money making machine rather than a visibility issue.
  2. we were stuck in the jam approaching this. Relieved it didn't look serious, we thought someone was trapped under the car!
  3. Not the fuel, the size of battery is different, but woops yes it can be done http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-jumpstart-a-dieselpowered-automobile.html
  4. we have always asked neighbours and used jump leads. Never try and jump a petrol from a diesel and vice versa and get your positives and minuses the right way round.
  5. Drop the ceilings underneath a bit?

  8. Adys, Oglander, Maxted...will bring you out just by the new choc caff. Also And a lot of people using bellenden road live around bellenden road.
  9. If you are walking to bellenden road from east dulwich you almost certainly will walk past the new melange.
  10. does it take dogs? a friend from the seaside is visiting with a small lapdog and wants to meet for lunch.
  11. Farmers, Greetings for unusual sweet gifts, the 'med' shop for delicious veggie samosas and St Christopher Hospice shops for random treasure.
  12. really though, any level of rudeness from staff to 'clients' /customers /patients is unacceptable. Ok they sometimes get horrible people, but so do hoteliers, shops, pubs, other places where the public interact with staff. You wouldn't get it in any other service- hotel reception. I think its a terrible to try and justify it via a bad experience you don't know if they have actually had.
  13. today -11am, not peak time- had to drive daughter to Euston as she had so much luggage. Approached elephant from New Kent Road, huge queue, then at the actual Elephant it seemed there was only one tiny lane curving round to the right, the other fork seemed to be cut off. Then once across the Elephant and round the one way system to Blackfriars/Waterloo it was ridiculous. Not that much traffic but all of it made to wait for about twenty minutes to get through lights. You cannot take left to Waterloo until you have crossed the lights for traffic to Blackfriars, as it is all bus lane up till then. About three cars could go through green at a time. It seemed to be deliberately artificially manufacturing a traffic jam. Once through to Waterloo, hardly any traffic. I kept thinking why? is it pleasant for hotel residents to have all that traffic snarled up under their windows, or local residents? Bus lane completely empty which explains my lightening bus journeys from the other direction of late. And cyclists using the one way system? Back to your expensively laid out cycle superhighway please!!
  14. I had alot of problems with internet last night re virgin.
  15. From Peckham Rye there are trains directly to St Pancras, (next to Kings Cross)so it's not very convulated at all.
  16. another blink of an eye journey today-this evening the 176 took 24 minutes from The Strand to Ondine Road.
  17. Strangely i had the fastest ever 176 journey home from Charing Cross Road last night, whizzing down empty roads. The approach to elephant was empty. Maybe it's succeeded in putting everyone off driving.
  18. I got a dancette 1960's just to sustain my remaining record collection. Now if only I could beef it up with some louder speakers....
  19. The cultural argument thing is bollocks and has been a real obstacle to social workers who were put off intervention because of this thinking- thinking that turns out to be more an invention of our stereotype assumptions than the actual reality of those cultures.a bit like the whole winterval fiasco that was a result of council overthinking rather than of anyone ever having objected to christmas. Well done Cinders and i hope they find this poor child!
  20. someone tried to jump off the roof. hope they have been talked down and are safe.
  21. Flock and Herd, Bellenden Road.
  22. I back onto party house but think it was house next to it this time. (I can look out and see) Doors open into garden is main culprit bringing noise right into your bed. I think they turned it down a bit in small hours.
  23. if you scribble 'not known at this address' on the envelope and put it in the post box/give it to postman, they can match it up to other post going to that name with the correct address on it.
