Sash windows can often be restored. We had all ours restored and replaced by Sundial recommended on hear, again about12 years in.

If it's a really good buy and habitable take your time and do it room by room. We didn't make our kitchen / scullery into one huge room for ten years but we made it superficially lovely and functional till then, and brought up our small children in it..

Recommendations: cottage near London, dog friendly?
Huggers replied to supergolden88's topic in The Lounge
we used SYKES COTTAGES several times to rent cottages and spent on lovely Easter in Whitstable where we rented a dog friendly cottage http://www.sykescottages.co.uk/?rfx=10683&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=%2Bsykes%20%2Bcottages&utm_campaign=Brand+Cottage&mkwid=IIOaVXyl_dc&pcrid=11950799887&pkw=%2Bsykes%20%2Bcottages&pmt=e also a National Trust property in Surrey but cant remember where it was- but national trust rent out some dog friendly places. Google will soon come up with something. -

Loads of potential.

Proposed 10km new double yellow lines across Dulwich
Huggers replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
the reply I got to my objection, so Ive objected again. Of course they haven't had complaints about detrimental effects if they haven't yet implemented the policy!!!---- Thank you for your objection to the proposal to install double yellow lines on all junctions within The Lane ward. Borough wide junction protection Within The Lane ward, a majority 85% of road junctions have existing yellow line markings to prevent ?unsafe?, inconsiderate and obstructive parking. Only 15% of roads junctions in The Lane Ward remain unprotected. In our experience, we have found that parking problems are mainly caused by out of town commuters wanting to park near to places such as railway stations, shops and hospitals. We have never received complaints about parking problems due to yellow lines installed on a road junction. There are cost savings to be had introducing junction protection at all junctions per ward instead of doing them Adhoc individually, for the past decade we have regularly presented local parking amendments to community council, to install double yellow lines on junctions and over the past 5 years. The reason for our blanket approach is so that there is a consistency of junctions within the Lane ward area and across the borough, hence a more efficient spend of the council's money. We accept that there are varying pressures upon parking in the area but to install it at some junctions, but not others, would mean that the council would need to re-evaluate those junctions at a future date. This would require additional funding of approximately ?5000 on each occasion. Parking close to a junction is deemed unsafe and whilst we appreciate that parking stress in some streets may be high, road safety needs to take priority over the loss of ?unsafe? parking. It is good practise to be proactive in improving safety at junctions for all road users including pedestrians, cyclists and not just sight lines improvements for driver of vehicles. The full rationale, explaining why we are proposing double yellow on junctions within The Lane Ward can be found in the report presented to Peckham and Nunhead community council on 6/2/16. Controlled Parking Zone (CPZs) Since 2011 the council has received few requests from residents for a CPZ or reporting parking problems, it is for this reason, we do not have plans to consult upon a parking zone in the area. Currently, our resources are prioritised in other parts of the borough. The Statutory consultation closes today 14 April 2016 and as we have received other objections, your objection will be sent to the Peckham and Nunhead community council for determination at the next meeting being held 29 June 2016, this is a public meeting and if you wish to attend can find meeting details here. Kind regards Michael Herd Network development officer Highways ? Parking design -
Dboy, they are bigger, some huge early Victorian houses round Highshore Road, Chadwick Road, Lyndhurst, some detached, with huge gardens minutes from a station that directly serves the East London Line. Some very individual houses, including the large early cottages around Elm Grove.

Proposed 10km new double yellow lines across Dulwich
Huggers replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Ten metres of double yellow junction lines on small residential roads with multiple junctions into other small residential roads, will have a huge impact on parking. Residents in my area (Bellenden/Adys/Nutbrook maze of small roads) have resisted residents parking and actively opposed it in two surveys. A way of Southwark changing minds would be to put more pressure on parking which is what these double yellow lines will do. I notice there are already double yellow lines on a lot of our local junctions, but not ten meters, and to the eye this looks like more than adequate length. We have a problem with huge lorries being directed through our small streets by their sat navs. We have asked the council to discourage this with signposting 'unsuitable for large vehicles'. They often get stuck on the corners. Are these double yellow lines an attempt to solve this, making corners clear for huge lorries to turn? We would rather have the signs. I think the lines are a cynical attempt to bring in Residents parking by stealth. -
surely the huge Lyndhurst Way or Lyndhurst Square would go for more than that?

I've just had the best thing ever, a dark chocolate Florentine from Ayres the Bakers. Actually, I only had half as at two quid a shot I've had to share it.

I chanced this last night. Approach to E&C from Old Kent Road was OK. The drive around the actual x-roundabout, a bit slow. The real queues were where traffic double looped from E&C to Blackfriars turnoff, with a tail back as cars (not that many, but still jammed) couldn't get into the left hand lane to turn to Waterloo or Blackfriars Bridges till the very last minute, due to bus lane going right up to the junction. The journey took one and a half hours and normally takes about 50 minutes.

Got a late gig tonight which necessitates the car. Have avoided Elephant for about five months, but normally it is my quickest route to Crouch End. Has anyone dared driven down there recently via New Kent Road approach and if so, has anything improved?

Louisa, Hackney was terrifying and shit in the late eighties to nineties, even Stoke Newington despite its quaint looks; it didn't start from a higher ground than Peckham. Crossing Southgate Road from Islington to Hackney, identical residential streets but in postcodes just separated by yards, filled us with as much bourgeois trembling as ever beset an East Dulwicher venturing across East Dulwich Road into SE15. Every dog has its day and every part of London will experience up and down. I am old enough to remember Notting Hill in the sixties and seventies and it was very down in the mouth. I expect the Kensington crowd were apoplectic with mirth when the 'pioneers' started talking about it as interesting and eclectic.

they are in stage one of dealing with my complaint. If I have paid and other challenges have won, I think I should get my money back! Specially as, if I had known I wasn't allowed to park there, there were plenty of other parking choices at the time.

Went to Peddler for Mother's day, booked about three weeks in advance, totally delish Sunday roast and not more expensive than a lot of the pub lunch offerings. was in Artusi in Bellenden Road last night (I don't go out like this all the time - had a visiting relative) and they rustled up a veggie dish for me which was sublime.
