  1. I went last year with our teenagers and they were a bit sneery but that's their loss. There were loads of younger children there and bewitched adults.
  2. we had a leak from a flat above that brought our ceiling down twice when we lived in rented accommodation in Pimlico. It turned out to be a lack of grouting around the bath of the upstairs tenant. It was very hard to detect as not obvious. But the small amounts of water getting past the bath when she had a shower accumulated and became a big leak which was able to cause massive damage. Hard to prove but was proved in the end.

  4. ask them - I did and they were very friendly. Alas have forgotten the answer!
  5. I've read 26. I'm impressed.
  6. say it's yours and you just lost it, that's why you are there- looking for it, retracing your steps. Effuse with loud gratitude and Then make a huge scene when she refuses to hand it over.
  7. very sorry to hear of your theft, a while ago there was a whole spate of campervan thefts reported on the forum. There is a camper van open day today on Barry Road so maybe let the guys there know about your van- they could keep their ears open for anything suddenly appearing on the market. You could ask them to circulate picture. Also there seems to be a regular VW sale around Bermondsey- you can see them lined up along the road under the railway as the train goes towards London Bridge. Good Luck. What an absolute bummer. Hope she turns up safe and sound.
  8. the stuff nowadays is cut with fluff, easy to resist but the old days of pregnant smoking woman 20 page thread of ranting feud, clown apparitions etc, well that was the hard pure stuff.
  9. how about the east london line back to Surrey QUAYS from P Rye and change for Crystal Palace?
  10. doesn't this guy sound like the same one who robbed the forumite at traffic lights a couple of weeks back?
  11. I am now thinking maybe the call was for Thomas the Apostle school which has a similar number to mine, (we've been rung before by mistake) and the 'i think Ive been talking to Huggers and we got cut off' was her not knowing who she had just been talking to at the school and so assuming it was the female name on the answer machine...
  12. well this is what I wondered....and what got my paranoia going but I haven't spoken to this person before like they say we have 'just had a conversation and got cut off.' Surely you would leave your number on an answerphone? if it was a premium number you probably wouldnt check if you just used the 1471/3 service. the way she started by saying 'i believe I am speaking to Huggers Name (mispronounced, so maybe she didnt have that much time to write it down) blah blah' ....sounded very odd, and as I say, the name could have been picked up from the answerphone message, although the number itself doesnt appear in the directory of market cold call spammers, the 0207 450 prefix is a common denominator to all of them. p.s. edited to add, my children are teenagers, where from all paranoia comes.
  13. is there? I've only heard that message attached to certain numbers?
  14. I've had a very odd answer phone message- the person knew my name (I'm not in the directory but my name is on the answer machine though in my husband's voice...duh!)and said she was Jamie's big sister (someone Ive never heard of) and that we'd had a conversation and been cut off and if I needed to discuss her brother further to ring back. No number left. Like an idiot I did a 1471/3 as I assumed it might be the school or something who had rung wrong parent, and got an anonymous answering machine. Then I actually listened to 1471 and the bit I hadn't listened to before, which was 'to return this call, press 3, there is a charge for this service'. I have googled the code and it is a landline but a virgin one, so not attached to specific location. The message was vague enough for me to be really curious and then wondering if someone else in my family had been impersonating me! has anyone else had anything like this? Obviously I dont want to ring again...but I originally left a message saying I didnt know what they were talking about, so if genuine would realize mistake. aaagh.
  15. inserting your finger up dog's bottom should deter it, and also it's a litmus test of sensible behaviour: something you would only do if you really knew you weren't just being paranoid. or carry a brolly.
  16. naked sunbathing may put her off the garden visits.
  17. She sounds like she has a personality disorder and is beyond negotiation. However- can you get landlord to fence the access path so that she is separated from you in her journey to her garden? my friends did this in a previously unfenced garden. It could be offered as an action to protect HER privacy. Ignore her when she is in her garden, invite people over, sunbathe....it's possible she is a narcissist enjoying the attention.
  18. there's Saturday morning badminton club get together on saturday mornings at Harris
  19. Had lunch there bank holiday Monday, very nice veggie pie, mash and peas with gravy. It was about 8 quid which is what I might pay for a baggette and cappucino in some of the LL cafaterias. They do a delicious 2 point something real ale for people who want to sup something not too potent too which is excellent for those who want to go there, have a beer and drive.
