  1. really good fun, but if everyone gets too drunk they can literally lose the plot.
  2. we used to have an alleyway running between gardens that in victorian times was where the dustbins were collected. Over the years householders reclaimed bits of it with council permission and now all ends are blocked off. Before this burglars could access gardens from the street. Now they would have to burgle someone from the front and then access everyone else from the back. so sorry for your experience, sounds absolutely terrifying.
  3. is Bonyard still doing his pies. Ive p.m'd him?

  7. I made it to the funeral everyone, with a minute to go. Two buses, two tubes, two trains there, the way back was very circuitous mainly because of misinformation !
  8. No. I understand you can get a rabies jab after you've been bitten by a dog.
  9. polio, tetanus, typhoid and hepatitus (A?), plus malaria tablets for malaria areas- I chose the ones you only take while you are in those areas and for a few days after but you have to pay for them.
  10. I'm off to India on Friday! I had my jabs six weeks ago as recommended.
  11. Am now thinking if I can get to Paddington I can get the 9am train....if I can get to Elephant I can get the tube!
  12. I am due to be at a funeral tomorrow at 9am in Henley! I was going to start my train journey at 7.30am and now not sure whether to risk car.
  13. Dennis that sounds like the boy and girl team who got my son's phone on Nunhead Lane earlier this year. The girl was walking with the boy which was a reassuring sight and then they split on either side of my son. The girl walked on (probably to receive the phone)and the boy demanded the phone. Reported to police.
  14. woke me up this morning at 5am.
  15. Southwark Planning are brilliant. They had someone round to ours within two hours when I rang up to ask what developers were up to next door - they were disguising their extension work by using the rubble to raise their garden by three feet which would overlook ours. Southwark made them to undo the raised garden, made them get planning permission for the extension!
  16. I went last year with our teenagers and they were a bit sneery but that's their loss. There were loads of younger children there and bewitched adults.
  17. we had a leak from a flat above that brought our ceiling down twice when we lived in rented accommodation in Pimlico. It turned out to be a lack of grouting around the bath of the upstairs tenant. It was very hard to detect as not obvious. But the small amounts of water getting past the bath when she had a shower accumulated and became a big leak which was able to cause massive damage. Hard to prove but was proved in the end.

  20. I've read 26. I'm impressed.
  21. say it's yours and you just lost it, that's why you are there- looking for it, retracing your steps. Effuse with loud gratitude and Then make a huge scene when she refuses to hand it over.
  22. very sorry to hear of your theft, a while ago there was a whole spate of campervan thefts reported on the forum. There is a camper van open day today on Barry Road so maybe let the guys there know about your van- they could keep their ears open for anything suddenly appearing on the market. You could ask them to circulate picture. Also there seems to be a regular VW sale around Bermondsey- you can see them lined up along the road under the railway as the train goes towards London Bridge. Good Luck. What an absolute bummer. Hope she turns up safe and sound.
  23. the stuff nowadays is cut with fluff, easy to resist but the old days of pregnant smoking woman 20 page thread of ranting feud, clown apparitions etc, well that was the hard pure stuff.
  24. how about the east london line back to Surrey QUAYS from P Rye and change for Crystal Palace?
  25. doesn't this guy sound like the same one who robbed the forumite at traffic lights a couple of weeks back?
