  1. Word onthe street that the publicity combined with the pressure has got to him and that early, pre-published sightings of his latest works are but hollow caricatures of his early, vibrant work ;-)
  2. ah but would it? Methinks the lady protests too much
  3. yeah I did think of that as well - but then I figured I have no idea who you are from Adam so how could it be so...? I'm going entirely on your posts. If some people want to think it's an exclusive club I have long lost the will to go around correcting them - some people believe what they want to believe Maybe the idea is destined for the bin...but for now...
  4. "yawn" as in the very concept? "yawn" as in Ted Max's pieces are boring? "yawn" as in you have gone to the trouble of not making any clear point on a thread that doesn't interest you? Disagree by all means but try and make it clear what excatly it is yuo are disagreeing with and why. Just so we can bore you less next time if nothing else
  5. I'm not a cyclist so feel free to point out the flaw anyone, but having worked in Picadilly, how about Lordship Lane, Camberwell, CamberWell New Rd, Vauxhall*, Victoria, Picadilly * this could be the fly in the ointment for any cyclist couldn't it?
  6. And the very different and brilliant DulwichMum of course! Shu - I worry if you ever come to a forum drinks that you, Mockney and me will form some kind of uber-geek-culture-black-hole... interesting post there
  7. And she's even nicer in person. And a rare fellow-Gavin Friday fan.. so I would support a nomination. But then again that's for perennial service. Ted has upped his game in the last few weeks....
  8. it was PGR4 I believe! - and I do not do well at driving games. They take up so much tiiiiiime! Apart from that - it's a fair cop
  9. Having read Ted Max's* brilliant little vignettes AND seeing the responses to same, I would like to inaugurate the FOTM - Forumite of The Month award... and nominate Ted (of course, if it follows football's Manager of teh Month award he will have a shocker of a November For future awards maybe we could have some rules ? Nominees to be forwarded in the last week of a calendar month and the winner announced early the following month? * maybe it's already been discussed but only by typing his name have I realised where he lives - doh!
  10. I see that almost daily. I try and draw inspiration from it....
  11. of course, British clubs don't HAVE to float themselves on the stock exchange or lift their skirts up whenever a rich suitor walks by now do they...? If British clubs are so proud of being British why don't they stay private and local? eh ?? eh?????
  12. I might have just fallen in love a little bit
  13. any recent 360 is as robust as any other console so I wouldn't worry unduly Shu I was very excited by the Galaga update not just because I loved the original at the time but the update was being done by the same team who updated Pacman so fantastically a year or so back (and I wasn't a fan of the original Pacman - but this latest version is stunningly addictive) Shame then that the new Galaga was so ... wooly. It looks gorgeous but lacks any real tension Shu - please get a 360 (less than a hundred quid in Sainsbo's) just so teh Geometry Wars 2 competition hots up... ;-)
  14. ah yes the old "My beloved Aunt" mis-spelled obit from Curb your Enthusiasm...
  15. you physically couldn't surely?
  16. just to note that CPZ have been discussed before - link below. Doesn't seem to be any consensus about their merit CPZs
  17. not talking about any individuals here, but using the scenario.. Jimmy - I hear what you are saying but it's not about rewarding people from what I can tell - policies like this exist(ed) to a) acknowledge the fact that some people just can't function as well as others. b) by containing that problem, on balance, society benefits in a way it wouldn't if some of those people were on the street and possibly resoorting to assault, muggings etc I'm generalising to make a point but I do agree with the maxim that a society can be judged on how it treats it's most vulnerable. The situation you found yourself in sounds woeful but you clearly possess the faculties to turn things around (as most people do) Is fair enough, but what informs that opinion? And jealousy doesn't count
  18. well that's true as well I guess Keef - you can cut yourself without even knowing it with those bad boys But usually I cut myself with a blunt knife, pressing too hard on on a slippery onion And the language!!!
  19. I've severed many a digit over the years. Then I learned a very valuable lesson Good sharp knives! DO not use any inherited knives found knocking around in the house/flat. It's asking for a trouble. The first time I spend money on a good knife and used it I nearly cried... "so it is THAT easy????"
  20. you are not alone VBC. I mean, I knew what he meant but wondered about typos...
  21. A lesson I learnt after posting at early forum drinks! Good recovery goer
  22. worse still... I'm singing "my brain my brain my brain" to the tune of Fergie's "My humps" bah
  23. Never played those, Shu... worth it? And is one going free? ;-)
  24. Agreed - must be tortuous for Jah and co. I can't believe Ramos has turned into a bad manager and anyway, after the pain the club went through for the last replacement I don't think they could face going through it again. I think it's a painful ride until the January Window, then some desperate buying and a scramble to safety thereafter. Then spend the summer re-thinking.
