  2. * wakes up * * realises he hit the sauce too hard too soon * * hey, good to see so many friendly faces * * sherrif looks like he's been through the wars mind you *
  3. I used to live near Vicky Park back in 2000 when Radiohead last set up shop there. Didn't make it to that gig either mind you :( But you're right it's a nice spot. London is soo big and diverse from area to area it's easy to forget
  4. I'm inclined to think that's what it is - sounds like mischief. Unless they can prove it with a copy of something you actuall have in your PM folder
  5. Hi Madworld The only way I am aware of for anyone to see PMS is if they have your password. Who told you they were hacked and do you trust them? Do they have evidence? Is there anyway they can guess your password?
  6. SteveT - Easy - those who DO get it and those who DON'T
  7. But as Danny Baker pointed out last night, if there was a competition for best-pressed shirts, England/UK would be walking away with the trophy
  8. Diescu - As far as I know they don't have a kitchen there and food is limited to toastie/panini type snacks. Jamie sometimes psost on here so maybe he can correct me if I'm out of date with that
  9. It's goood to see some of the locals still here young citizen - at least have some food * passes a plate and some Dragon's Blood *
  10. well, I'll go and read it again then!!!
  11. What with all of the tensions in the world, and the feeling that the weather is about to turn.. I felt the need for some refried beans, some fiery red, and a cold beer * dusts off a stool * * pulls up to the bar * * thinks about waking the barman, decides better, and pours his own * * starts reading... *
  12. And the bookshelf wallpaper! One of the blonde barmaids who used to work there on comedy nights passed me on LL yesterday looking different x 10. Umm... just thought I'd mention that
  13. Brendan: "When man first came up with the idea of there being a god of the sea or of a mountain or in the clouds it was also a conviction based on the study of evidence. The intellectual tools being used were just different. " Really? Really really? Or was mankind barely out of diapers and prone to making stuff up. Say what you will about science/intellectual argument.. it acknowledges every single day it's limits, learns new things, adapts and moves the argument on My issue with religion (as opposed to "does God exist") is that it hasn't changed one iota. Ever. Sure, concessions are made (albeit againstnumbing opposition) re: women priests, vatican 2 etc, but the text books, the teachings, the things you are given AS A CHILD are as flawed as they were when first published.
  14. ???? - you keep making references to this "other" forum - I'm dying to know what it is. If you haven't declared by now I doubt you will/can - but that just makes it worse! I think Piers has posted on the subject before but, as I frequent several other forums, I can concur that this is by some distance, Hobbiton compared with those pits of Mordor. Nowhere salacious (they tend to be very polite ;-) ) but things like computer forums are seemingly populated by.. well, the sort of people that live up to the clich?s. It get's very very tiresome. It's why I cherish the "niceness" of this place so much. sorry
  15. oooh dear indeed ;-) Seanmlow - same has happened to me in the past but I consoled myself with the fact that "it's not the dogs fault, but the owners." Apparently. That made the bite sooo much less painful
  16. Turkey so should have won that game last night Atila can not be happy - not only was it a sucker punch, but the TV signal kept going - that's got to be sooo frustrating Consolation isn't always welcome but for a team down to it's bare bones with suspension and injury they really rocked the Germans. Whoever wins tonights game, that's who I'll be rooting for Still, if Spain lose we can always watch Mockney Piers crying into his tapas
  17. OK I have never asked anyone for a number on a bus but I do quite often (if it's late in the evening) get involved in ad-hoc discussions with fellow travellers. I'm never the instigator but not once have I done the final 100 yard walk home felt my evening wasn't enhanced significantly by such chatter taxi-drivers on the other hand do my absolute nut in. There is a reason so many of them have chosen a career which allows them to be in their own space all day and yet force their opinions on a captive audience. It takes a certain kind of person...
  18. still managed 2000+ TT - a good innings I'd say ;-) I've noticed the general bickering and crawling-over-ten-bodies-just-to-have-a-moan behaviour increasing of late - as numbers of registered users has gone up. Shame - there have been some people who have joined just in the last week or two who I would really like to hear more from as well...
  19. You're absolutely sure you are not omitting a comma after nutter there Tessa ;-)
  20. But to echo ???? and Piers slightly - if the forum is used simply as an online resource then I would probably say yeah - occasionally interesting and fun, but then again, dull from time to time, repetitious over longer periods*. It's when you start to engage on the social side that you start to see it's real potential - even if it's only printing out a few documents at someone elses house because you haven't a printer *That said if you find a better forum for a similar sized community then please let me know where...
  21. That may be true DaveR, but we can only speak for our own countries - and the UK isn't exactly making a whole heap of noise about how they are being "frustrated by China and Russia" - suggesting that if the way was clear we wouldn't be beating any doors down to get there (all sorts of metaphors going wrong there - sorry)
  22. * damn, I stayed locked in as "mockney piers" for that last post *
  23. Annasfield, look, I've already apologied for all of that, is there any need to haul it into the public light?
  24. Anthony Grayling answers the question - Can an Atheist be a Fundamentalist with the following: "Any view of the world which does not premise the existence of something supernatural is a philosophy, or a theory or, at worst, an ideology. If it is either of the first two, at its best it proportions what it accepts to the evidence for accepting it, knows what would refute it, and stands ready to revise itself in the light of new evidence. This is the essence of science. It comes as no surprise that no wars have been fought, pogroms carried out or burnings conducted at the stake over rival theories in biology or astrophysics." to which Chris Hitchens adds: "Clear? It's not a matter of "room" for doubt. The whole analytical method of humanist materialism is based on scepticism. We take nothing on faith. Imagine what a fortune could be made by a palaeontologist who unearthed human bones and dinosaur bones in the same layer of sediment. I will bet my house that this discovery will not be made, but my bet is not entirely, or at all, an article of belief. It is, rather, a conviction based on the study of evidence. As to the manner in which I express myself, it rather depends on the antagonist. I'm normally renowned for my patience and good humour, but I admit to being easily bored and, when I come up against, say, a self-righteous rabbi, can be tempted to succumb to sarcasm. I think that may be where your confusion arises. Oh, and I do not "profess" to despise religious extremists. I really do despise them."
  25. resurrecting not because of the programme itself, but just because it's a phrase that won't leave my head these last few days. Can't imagine why...
