  1. I wouldn't say red is ALWAYS associated with danger (to the general public anyway) - the country's best selling newspaper has done well out of it for decades I've done my bit and thanks Annaj for publicising... (tu)
  2. Dear God I can only echo the posts from Huguenot and Mockney Piers above Watching those idiots cheering and partying into the night made me ill - "we know f*** all!!! It's great!!!!" Most comment appears to agree that the reason most people voted no was because the treaty was incomprehensible to ordinary people - which may be true but I'm willing to bet the family house on the fact that when Ireland was on it's knees and aching to join the EU most people didn't understand THAT treaty either - and they have done pretty well out of it. The ungrateful bollixes Still - when the country freefalls into a full financial trough and has to go cap in hand, someone is going to enjoy making them squirm
  3. just after monupment but before Gracechurch St, HeidiHi http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl first stop after monument, Fenchurch St on the right - walk along there for a bit - mincing lane just off there
  4. Cheers RosieH - pint at Kitson for you. If I knew what you looked like.... Now to give Ratpack SOME benefit of the doubt - according to the details he has outlined, this all started because of a ticket he never received, which led to the bailiffs being called in etc. Assuming this is true (and I have no reason to believe that it isn't*) it still means that a likely offence was committed at some point.. unless ratpack is also saying he/she never parks where they shouldn't? It is possible for the council to screw-up completely after all. But is that what happened? Have they targetted someone who committed no offence? If they have then I would suggest they could be sued for more than the fine they tried to impose. * Although I personally know plenty of people who use this excuse even when they definitely have received a ticket. But please remember they are NOT criminals. OR liars.. no way....
  5. ah but the age-old get-out clause is "they could provide the services if they didn't waste so much money!!" - which is just brilliant as no-one can ever 100% refute it. Even if those people actually ran the council, there would still be waste. it still misses the point tho as for ???? saying most of that money is raised from people breaking the law - ergo... Whereas the second half of the statement is both factually incorrect and not a little whingey based on what I see every single day - if Southwark council really clamped down on parking offences then they could seriously make a fortune. As soon as I get through a day without several drivers deliberately not giving a shit about their fellow road-users or pedestrians and breaking umpteen laws in the process is when I start being on their side about how they are being victimised... until then however
  6. spot on Mon :)-D (bad luck with the footie tonight btw) PS - I might be down to collect my bag tomorrow PPS - I might even pop in to Davina and wish them well
  7. to think you could have that OR The Harvester.. * weeps *
  8. Is there that many new users defending it? - I counted 2. Which is 2 too many (not to defend the shop. but too many IF they are connected) but not SO many I can't see why if anyone is connected with the shop they don't just say so - you know "we've opened a shop, we have identified market x, it won't be to everyone's taste but come along and make your own mind up, no need to be so bitchy" It's worked for G&B and Seacow... Pretending to big up somewhere you are connected with is bad form and I normally moan about it - but in this case even if the "new people" are connected, it WAS after 4 or 5 pages of fairly vicious attacks - I have SOME sympathy with them. I still think they are better off engaging with potential audience
  9. Out of all the shops that have opened , I for the life of me can't understand why THIS one is getting so much flak.... I really can't I have no connection to them and am unlikely to be their target audience but give them a chance - what have they done to anyone?

When people are THAT "farcked off" I'm reluctant to plough on .. but as we are on the subject It SOUNDS like (and correct me if I'm wrong) that parking at Pulse for non-Pulse users is not permitted and this is "known" but largely and often ignored and shoppers often use it - is that about it? Obstructing anyone in this case is neither here nor there. You could park in my off-road allocated space and not be obstructing anyone but that's hardly the point is it? (naturally if you ask me nicely you are more than welcome to use it...) I still don't understand the problem.. Car use is growing exponentially - whatever problems you encounter with over zealous councils, private property owners, whatever - is going to get MUCH worse. Because space is limited and car volumes are growing - it's a simple equation. Why is everyone so resistant to adapting to this fact? The fecking fuel that we all need is running out and that;s going to get more expensive too.. All this aggravation.. If parking spaces are that limited... deal with it. Don't try and cheat - it only makes those who can enforce the rules become more resiliant. It only leads to higher blood pressure. If there were no parking fines for those spots - they would have already been taken..
  11. Irina I have no idea why people are so upset about this shoe-shop either. I think several people have gone OTT in their attacks on it. Either shop there or don't but I can't see why this seemingly unassuming (in a boudoirish kind of way) little shop attracts so much ire And I'll make no great claims about East Dulwich either - BUT.. come on. Croydon. I have several friends who live there. ALL of them want to leave. I've gone out several times in Croydon and bar the Beer Circus (now closed) it's.... a typical British "new town". Like Swindon. (I've lived there too). You live there and you are happy and that's great but you must be able to see why people (and not just on this forum. Most newspapers have a go. It didn't do too well in those CrapTown books either) take the proverbial? Don't take it so personally

Because chasing criminals is cost-free is it Ratpack? If anyone is interested, click on Ratpack's profile and have a look at his previous posts - the unluckiest driver in Southwark? Or an idiot? You decide... He complains about other people who don't drive around London all the time just don't understand and YET his first post was to complain about air-traffic noise pollution. Irony not a strong point. The volume of car traffic in London doesn't cause any noise does it? Ratpack it's you that's causing the traffic jams for other drivers. it's you that gets in the way of my bus. Do yourself and everyone else a favour - buy a highway code and grow up
  13. your name is Amy??? I always had you down as a geezer! I may well do an accumulator on the various attendances of Strawbs AND ????/Amy
  14. What I love about the pro-active stance against terrorism is how rubbish it is Imagine post 119 (it's our calender, let's reclaim it) when the government sat down and thought "Right, this is serious - this might happen here next. Let's beef up everything! Now - let's think outside the box fellas, is there anyting else we are missing?? Anything at all..... our nation DEPENDS on it" Years pass - some kerfuffle on a plane on a runway.... "OMG!!! We fogot!!! Liquid explosives!!!!! Right - stop everyone from carrying more than 100ml of anything"
  15. After work drinks in the city are the WORST. Me, I'm hoping to quench ma thirst down in the CPT, watching the football and having intelligent conversation with the likes of Keef, Annasfield and possibly a few others (see Euro thread) You fancy it or are you more in the mood for the Las Vegas lights of LL?

Again, like keef, this is pre forum. And no one is saying anything libelous here. Plus if any case was brought there would be a queue out to kent of ex customers and staff with "stories to tell"
