  1. who knew, huh? she has always seemed soooo reasonable in the past
  2. well IF anyone has been banned before they would be silly to risk getting banned again and IF someone else hasn't had a ban before, it would be a shame to see it happen. But I'm not going to let the football thread descend into that name-calling nonsense again so anyone tempted , leave any sectarian disagreements in the past. Capiche?
  3. Is this the original thread you meant?
  4. Doesn't change the fact that keef is right Emerson - he was teasing you about how bad your predictions were for the weekend (and for the record they were shocking - but I doubt either you or I care after yesterday's results) - but there was no need to resurrect that argument again. So stick to the football - ir doesn't matter what was said over a week ago, let it lie
  5. can only agree with DJKQ James - is a breathtakingly optimistic statement, bordering on Orwellian use of language. As an aspiration it's laudable, but I suspect (and will be happy to be proved wrong) that the numbers worse off will be legion
  6. When I lived near you Nero, I sometimes used to get the 197 bus from the library to East Croydon - it does drag, and isn't pretty but has the benefit of being close to home and avoiding schleppage But usually just went to London Bridge and then changed - ultmately it's just easiest. Travelling to Forest Hill, Change, West Croydon, Change, East Croydon, Change and the Brighton has too many steps that can go wrong for me
  7. Well, apart from the fact that man utd haven't lost ones this season
  8. It should be pointed out in any discussion comparing Singapore to UK, that a resident of Singapore sort of HAS to be complimentary about the place I've had my spats with H, but I wouldn't want this to happen to him
  9. Because it's Friday, and because quids said "laughable" and it put me in mind of the "laughable" speech from Big Lebowski can I post this, even if it's in the Drawing Room http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Xeqk8ZPAg9w/SMFfeXLboeI/AAAAAAAAApE/wvjqUQiskmA/s400/johan.jpg
  10. being asked to "move on" is not the same as you are not permitted Many security staff use "authority" to move people on when in fact they don't have any legal right to do so. You can stand your ground
  11. oh you know him Emerson Arsenal fan runs small businesses Denies he is Atila repeatedly The one who posted on teh Nunhead forum, realised there was noone there and so invented a new name (again) have a look in a mirror We all know it's you, why don't you?
  12. uh oh - old Atila is back - I'm not engaging with this one And he'd being do so well too
  13. You mean businesses don't close down in other countries? Man I gotta get me some of that action Detroit - USA http://assets.espn.go.com/i/eticket/20090430/photos/etick_bing16_850.jpg Joburg http://images.visualeditors.com/apple/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/091018joburgstreetone.jpg
  14. But isn't that what "we" do when we elect a government - without that premise there is no unified "we"
  15. I've never understood it either loving the replaced question mark btw
  16. At least you didn't start another thread about it this time ;-) Funnily enough, on THAT occassion I was really giving it to woof - if people think he is obtuse now he was off the scale back then. And as it happens I've enjoyed a few beers with him since then and he's a lovely fella - who woulda thunk it
  17. Typos abound there. I was asking Concita to read her last post as it accused me of not being in touch with reality (essentially, mad). But her subsequent post went on the attack saying how offended she was that people were suggesting she wasn't in touch with reality. Basically she gives it but can't take it
  18. You know when you lose your temper and say something you should regret and then revisit it and defend it anyway? And only subsequently do you realise that actually you REALLY do regret it? I did that earlier with Huguenot, and I can?t apologise to him or for my own lapse enough
  19. you can if you like, but compared to many countries we pay lower tax And given the choice, I'd rather pay tax than cut everything to the bone
  20. are we?
  21. And I'm aware that that is childish, losing an argument, throwing toys out of my pram, beneath me, a poor show etc But by admitting all of that I get to say it again...
