  1. I didn't mean it seriously! as for brother - no he was across the way in Sully Shuffles . juuuust before the refit a year or 2 ago
  2. I think they are getting their inspiration from Liam ?g's on Walworth rd - that has gone from purple to green (or possibly vice-versa)
  3. As many other message boards and websites allow Avatars (small wee graphics which represent you) but this one doesn't... what would your avatar be I sometimes use http://img.crocmusic.com/s4/albums/35/david_bowie_low.jpg
  4. bad man.. BAD man MP I'm happy to go to either - but having coined the phrase NTV it would appear that I might favour the Herne, but having seen all the discussions before the Mag was decided and then seeing Darren from the Vales' posting I think it deserves a chance. Before it's too late ;-)
  5. every so often some of the functionality lacking with this forum software bugs me... then I go to other forums where my eyes bleed I love the clean look on here - plus it makes it less obvious to employers that it's a message board BUt we could start an avatar thread no?.. in Fact...
  6. shouldn't rise to the bait but... white working class are not a minority. Nor are they attacked on here. Nor would it be tolerated. If you mean threads which refer to chavs - that's different. White working class does not equal chav. Not that I'm supporting chav-baiting anyway... "yummy mummies" - attackable? not if this thread is anything to go by. Besides I though matt was giving out about children in pubs not YMs Now gamblers on the other hand....!
  7. busted by the grammar police (whilst wearing a grammar police uniform no less!)
  8. Dishy Dads suffers in the assonance stakes compared to Yummie Mummies tho' doesn't it?
  9. to be fair I did pick up on that line in the report as well - but then just got caught up in the far less taxing debate on shades of a shadow I don't know if the question is "is the fact that WS are seeking extra cash a sign that they are in trouble?" or is the question "is this the moment when WS jump the shark?" (see also GBK and further back in time Hogshead pubs. I remember when there were one or maybe two Hogsead bars in existance - lovely they were - then the concept was rolled-out and bastardised into a hussy version of it's former self) In any case I don't think they are in trouble but they MIGHT be about to jump the shark. Having defended them a few times on here I have to say that recent lines aren't a patch on what they were a couple of years ago. Chasing the larger market does seem to have meant a more predictable selection.
  10. who knew eh? me and snorks... the "prophets of doom" Not just today. But in "every circumstance" Let me leave that one sink in.... but first, to come to my defence (as I must!) my statement about the train station is neither prophetic, nor doomy (ish? ly?) Your comment around efficiency is bang on but it will be a busier station so, you know.. as the post was about how lovely and quiet it is to use.. THAT BIT will have changed. That's just logic. As for extending buses to actually head into HOP itself I'm all for it
  11. ok - whilst th eoriginal post said: "I have to say I really used to enjoy living in East Dulwich and going to Lordship Lane on a Saturday but I am now had enough. The main problem I have is the extent of the Yummy Mummy culture in Dulwich, all I ever see in Lordship Lane is prams, young mothers and babies in pubs. Last night my partner and I were in the Clock House in Barry Road and there were babies in there together with young children screaming the house down, I dont understand how you can take a small child into a pub on a weekday evening. The whole of the Lordship Lane and the area has just been taking over by Yummy mummies and the joy of having a civilised drink has now gone. I am not against children far from it but this Yummy Mummy culture has changed Dulwich." and isn't quite the same as saying ALL mothers, it does suggest a bigger problem than SOME mothers, no? Matt - relax. Most people on here are in agreement with you on the need to have adult spaces and times. It's just the title and initial wording go beyond "inclusive"
  12. If this thread was called something like "noisy kids in pubs in the evening - a plea to parents" I'd have slightly more sympathy. By calling it Yummy Mummies it kind of gives the game away as to what the real beef is. It seems that most respondants on here (both with and without sprogs) are FOR better behaved children or even no children in some public spaces after a certain time so there shouldn't be much need for an argument I would have thought? But as Moos points out it was only a matter of time before somepne got around to saying "and they aren't even that yummy"
  13. so THAT's why I buy a fair few clothes in there - cheers *Bob* I've mentioned before about WS clothes - not revolutionary and no-one should buy everything from one place - but chosen wisely and combined well their stuff works a treat IMO
  14. The Telegraph is benefiting from quite a few click-throughs from EDF of late isn't it? I've often seen it dead in there but equally it can get pretty busy at the weekend - much like any other White Stuff I've seen around the country
  15. Of course if the station was more accessible then it would lose much of it's charm and become just another crammed London station.
  16. Agree with the Zutons and maybe one or two others - but nothing to make me leap for joy and raid the piggy-bank if I have to pay over the odds for a sold out event But it's a great venue anyway so a bit of sun and it's a cracking evening
  17. LAdy MacGabhann has been informed.... I might even dabble myself if I'm free
  18. Michele It's a great room upstairs and I really hope it does well - as you probably know that space has been relaunched quite a few times without much success on the food front so hopefully lessons have been learnt The ideas for the menu sound spot-on but if you have a mooch around the forum you'll see comments about other restaurants and what people like and don't like so that might prove "educational" as well I'll be along to check it out soon for sure All the best
