  1. re: Bioshock - what about THAT moment near the end? One of my favourite gaming moments in many a year
  2. nearest I am aware of is in Peckham - definitely up for a game
  3. be pro- or anti- traffic wardens if you like, but if the first post used humour I missed it "Two traffic wardens walk into a bar...."
  4. this is one of my preferred curry houses - but I can't make this one - dang it
  5. for those who missed it it's on again on BBC3 tonight (Heroes that is)
  6. on the same night that we lose Inside 72 and gutrocking comedy at the EDT?? Good luck anyway!

    EDT

woodie - how come the Lounge and not the main ED room?? Apart from that you are spot on - Ray has done a hell of a lot to EDT and is always very welcoming. Good staff in there as well these days
  8. sky+ to the rescue (all Murdoch quibbles aside) It is hokum - but enjoyable hokum!
  9. I wouldn't worry about it going "backwards". I think some of the businesses on the road will struggle in the next year or two with possible closures and the place will feel less cushty. But then so will most other places. When the financial tide turns around again it will be fine. Chicken shops (and the like) need heavier footfall the brasserie/ex PexP - it's changed hands a few times. I haven't been for ages but didn't have quite the horror-story some people have experienced there -
  10. I thought this was a thread praising our very own Bellenden Belle - bah! I like the Bellenden Rd area quite a lot and spend a fair bit of time down that way. But I'm not sure I like the idea of an area being "pushed" as "posh". If an area is safe and relatively crime-free I'm not bothered who lives there
  11. annaj: was the eagle landing the end of the dream or did anything else happen? The obvious (to my literal mind) interpretation would be you are expecting some kind of news (or at least you are now) but why it has to be an eagle doing the circling I have no idea. Been watching old episodes of the Muppets recently? Nero: I've had similar dreams with other "names". Not always people I liked either. It's the "ordinariness" of the shabby dwelling that made me realise I had that kind of dream before But what DOES she look like these days??? People who say she looks fab for her age.. I just don't get it
  12. bawdynan - I don't think CWALD comments were aimed at you. I think there was another poster referred quite sweepingly to "chavs". But given the nature of mandy's original post I would leave that particular argument for another thread.
  13. It has it's problems for sure quids.. but if the alternative is "survival of the fittest" and I MUST choose one over the other I'm taking the lesser of two evils If there is a happy medium I would like to know what it might be ....
  14. Same thought crossed my mind. Of course statistically there are several women on here apart from chav who also. . . .
  15. well obviously I meant youse - as in you plural ( that wasn't a very good cover was it??? )
  16. * doffs cap in deference * ;-) Toby - as Mark says, contacting the administrator was a nice touch. And I'll still be in to see the new gaff. A question about the new place - are there any plans to expand the space? But I'll still miss 72..... :( And the people who sailed in her And some of the staff
  17. Mandyw - absolutely horrified for you. I can't begin to imagine the hell you are going through. I hope things improve sooner rather than later for you and your girl
  18. what, even if you "change your mind" later?
  19. Where are you watching the final btw? (FA cup that is)
  20. Jah - you say that like it's a bad thing! Sure the world is just a big village and we're all God's children Drink: HiB in Cork Tunnel Top - San Fran Souths - NYC Double Locks - Exeter Eats: (not always about the BEST food - but the right place with the right food) used to also include Double Locks in Exeter Les Halles for a nice steak - NYC I'm sure I'll think of more later
  21. TT - you are in impossibly devlish form today aren't you?
  22. Toby - thanks for coming on and introducing yourself it MIGHT be more politic to start another thread about the new bar what with this one being full of people all down in the dumps about an old favourite?? Not your fault or anything I know - and I will of course be along to check out the new place
  23. Rook Can't add much to what you've already said but I do agree. It shouldn't matter what area one lives in the station owners should be on top of the situation. I gave up on that station and trains generally not long after I moved here years ago If the train to town wasn't down to 4 carriages in the rush-hour, it was the non-existant train to Croydon after 6pm (or whatever) And yes it's horribly crowded funneling down to the exit in the evening rush-hour. All that said I'm much happier now I've learned the best routes to walk and/or bus it
  24. almost a cross-post with mine Anna
