  2. Hmmmm - I saw one of these in a twee Cheshire town last month and did think it was the worst name I'd seen for a long while. I'm sure it'll have a market here tho'. And no it's not the end... As with White Stuff it's not high-street drossville - these type of chains tend to open up in more interesting secondary streets in the bigger cities Yes I'd prefer a local business but as the landlord is know to be keen to lease to chains, it could be a lot lot worse
  3. Indeed UC, Indeed Now, that opening date for the warehouse again? I have an order I wish to place
  4. :-$ Sorry Annasfield - I know people likes him but.. well, let's just say I'm balanced and don't dislike 'Eaver just because I like Paul (tu) As for the thought of being chastised by both you AND Dulwichmum... well.... ........ ................. ;-)
  5. So I gathered from the reports.. and for some reason I was close to subscribing yesterday. Glad I didn't They have the Reading Arsenal game on Mon next week tho don't they? Pub for me...
  6. Totally agree with you on the Lennon front, but as for why I don't like Macca.. It's not his music (tho I loathe much of it) - there is something about the way he carries his place in musicall history that irks me unduly. He's not so stupid as to be openly arrogant, but he's much worse than that Plus, behind all the thumbs-aloft mateyness there is something of the night about him (apologies to Widdicombe for the steal) Another one: His gigs are worse than Robbie Williams for their karaokeness
  7. good question nutty If I was a gambling man I would guess that with 1000+ unique users we are looking at 100 or more voters. Perhaps Mr Administrator will release the files after the final vote? As for: Mockney is spot on. But then you say it like it's a BAD thing ;-)
  8. once again, it's NOT just about the shooting on the morning - it's the subsequent lies and face-saving operation
  9. Azul it be here: Follow me................
  10. isn't the whole point that that was the story initially put out by the police which was proved to be fabricated? As I've said, a mistaken shooting would be tragic and a cause for alarm anyway. It's the fact that the people charged with protecting us are happy to lie to our faces to save their own - that's the issue of concern A lot of Irish people, including I imagine Spadetownboy, understands the need to question the English police version of the truth. An unanswerable police force is the hallmark of a police state. And I'm not saying that's what we are. But if we weren't allowed to question, criticise and flush out the truth we would be
  11. cheers guys - I wondered where that post had got to as well!
  12. Or what pedestrians who might have got in your way/run over think either by the sound of it!
  13. Cheers Keef! For what it's worth, I rate Carragher - I'm just not fond of his tendancy to "cuddle" players and get away with it of late I'm perplexed at Liverpools for recently but hope they are in the mix anyway. I also was behind Man U's success last year (something I didn't think would ever happen) But don't let us Arsenal fans put you off a good team

  15. wedited for wrong thread reasons! Cheers LadyG
  16. H I didn't mean to suggest your supplier's organic/local credentials were lacking - I meant the wider blanket "organic" label as applied to general consumer world I like the sound of Riverford - thanks for the heads up
  17. I've already mentioned in the past how much I like this place but when we popped in this evening for a couple we seem to have stumbled upon the best 3-day-ongoing-party ever. Lot's of regulars in various stages of "dehydration" and the sound system at great volume. Was it someone's birthday? If it wasn't for work tomorrow I would have joined in properly
  18. I'm with you on the anti-supermarket thing (obvious from my previous posts probably) but don't know enough about the fire to comment on it's root cause. You may be on to something tho.... I'm less bothered by the "organic" label on food. I understand the intentions and support most of them but it risks becoming JUST another label. And has been mentioned many times, what point organic veg from Kenya when it has been ferried to death Meat (and the conditions it is reared in) is my priority, then the relationship between grower/buyer/supplier/consumer. Sometimes that fits the organic label and sometimes it doesn't
  19. tcha PeckhamRose - biggest bunch of pussycats going, us lot. Looking forward to meeting you
  20. I'll be there - we seem to keep missing each other of late, Keef. I'll have a drink for you A reminder that Omrith is just a few doors away - not sure if that fits in with the evening but should any of us fancy a curry before or after it's a great place
  21. Jason Nice one - thanks for letting us know about developments. You're right, it's a great building and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do there I've only been in the area 7 years or so, so don't have that much history on the pub. When it first re-opened 5 or so years ago there was a pool table in the back room and some great music on the soundsystem but I never got to go as often as I'd like but will be checking out those tapas asap And is that the first "conjule" on the forum? well done sir!
  22. that's how I like my armed police to be operating
  23. As downsouth said a great evening, and such a beautiful night. A balmy walk down to Brockwell Park from the Plough (sponsored by Acurist, the time taken was 19 minutes btw) The Florence was even big enough to allow some breathing space (I had feared it would be nose-to-nose in there)
  24. Putting on some clothes I made my way to school And I found my teacher crouching in his overalls I screamed and ran to smash my favorite slot machine And jumped the silent cars that slept at traffic lights (I always fund the slot machine reference very "modern" as they were new to me in the 80s!)
  25. Hope it works out well CWALD - keep us posted!
