oooh - I got 3 scores bang on and several other results right - best Ive done in a while Shame I actually WATCHED some of those games on TV - bloody rubbish (I'm looking at you Portsmouth and Man City fans!)
-
The Irish game is on before and I think the Castle would actually be a very appropriate venue for both these games (although I'm always more than happy to go to CPT if they are showing)
-
like ClareC I keep ordering them, getting them (sometimes) but they never last long I even bought a stack of plastic boxes from Farmers at one point and painted teh address over them but they didn't last more than a couple of months either Who, why and what for.?????? Of all the things to nick, stuff that's free from the council... it's beyond brain-dead
-
just something to keep in one's back-pocket. In any given week, 5 out of 7 days include some tiresome debate where the phrase is trotted out as if, by it's very mention, the argument is now concluded and that assumption has always irked me. And when I came across this today I thought it worth sharing (plus, more people need to be aware of Stewart Lee's work)

Moved from the main forum Mr Administrator??? It's political cor... oh wait
-
Of course it isn't but this short clip articulates my own feelings on the subject Political Correctness Gone Made - Stewart Lee especially the clincher half way through
-
Yep you will be fine at any time -although going later runs the risk of a) them running out of roast b) getting pulled in to the forum scrabble club weekly meeting there ;-)
-
I don't have the number (and had the same problem finding it some weeks back) but in truth the place is massive and you will find a table no problem if you turn up
-
Feeling fragile after spending too much time "out, out" this weekend I felt in need of something soaring and uplifting, tinged with reality Wake Up (live) - Arcade Fire & Bowie
-
Can non-scot but fellow-celts come and cheer you on too?

Forest Hill Road Co-Op in Bright and Friendly New Staff Member Shock!
SeanMacGabhann replied to *Bob*'s topic in The Lounge
My current bus route means I have long not needed to use this place - but that is due to change early 08 so will be back here picking up my milk/beers etc The subtext of *Bob*'s message of course is just how rubbish this place is/was. The memories of my days using this place still haunt me so I hope this guy sticks around. -
Great album AnotherPaul - but editing that message 4 times??? Whathappen???

Couldn't POSSIBLY guess which gentleman you mean CWALD ;-) Actually now that I'm up and about I feel fine - it was that "just awake" feeling which was a worry Tillie: The Louisa that Ko refers to is in fact Lady MacGabhann who at the Forum birthday party met Nero who then asked who she was - she replied "Louisa" . Nero's face was priceless. We bumped into Ko on Thursday and told her the story, so.... (And Louisa if you're reading this it was all meant well - and why aren't you posting these days?) -
My mum once went to a jumble sale and came back with a pile of ToTP records thinking I would love them. I did but not in the way she intended That bottom picture posted by cdonline was one of them and has just freaked me out by transporting me back 30 years!

Ouch. Seriously... ouch! And to think people were trying to convince me, nay FORCE me, to stay when I left at 1:30.. what state would I be in now? Anyway another great evening with many of the usual crew and plenty of "first timers" (plus an heroic late entrance from Keef/Slosh, Mrs K/S and Bagpuss) PeckhamRose turned up but had to leave almost immediately - you missed out. PR, turned out to be a very lively evening Also coming along for first and hopefully not the last were Annaj loozyloz barrymarshall and was it Steve/Scott who came in and spoke to Mark at the bar? Sorry if I got the name wrong Have I forgotten anyone - forgive my fragile state So about 20 of us in all but we didn't stand a chance with the "nibbles" laid on. When a pub says nibbles I think a few sausage rolls and plain crisps. This was close to a banquet! Plates piled high with all manner of goodies arrived one after another so a big thumbs up to Forest Hill Tavern for sorting that out Towards the end of the evening the bar staff found time to interact with us a bit more and, am I imagining this?, bought me a drink?? Anyway I'm back soon to try out this famous chilli of their's... anyone else AndrewDBlack was in fine form and VERY busy with the camera so I expect we'll see plenty of shots up soon Right, back to bed for me now.... -

If finding ?3.70 expensive for a pint of bleedin lager makes me an old codger then so be it ;-) -
Yep - I was still on The Road... Dualisms - for much of the book there were 2 bullets left and when one had to be sacrificed to save the boy.... isn't that what happened also to the relationship?

If it was in Val's I would likely be sober and almost certainly remember you If we met in one of the bars in the area it's entirely possible... but very nice to meet ye as well. ('Twas my first "talking to a stranger and finding out they are a forumite" moment) UC - damn shame man! Hopefully see you soon The comedy is held every fortnight and we have been going to the last 3 or so. Some good people lined up in the coming months so I'spect we'll be back. You'll know when... -
Time flies ;-) For some reason, talking about it has brought to mind aspects of Deadwood (the simply awesome HBO show starring Lovejoy. The Essex Antiques dealer. Not the sometime-obnoxious Chelsea loving tv presenter) Something about the brutality of relationships when much of what we take for granted simply isn't there
-
ooooh well suited that man!

Viigo Mortensen is "in talks" for the central character's role...

you know that feeling when you have lined up a curry and have been looking forward to it for a while? Nothing else will quite do.... bah humbug! Probably makes sense to avail of the free food next door tho' so...if you both want to go for a curry still I'll come along but if ye fancy rain-checking that's cool too -
"Careful now..." Downsouth - I'm so with you But when it works so well why would anyone change it? "The easiest way to keep people in line is to scare the shit out of 'em" - Be Dead by The Fatima Mansions You see how we are treated at airports? That's how governments would love to treat us all the time...

Barry I hadn't thought about the era of the setting - nice one. Of course you could argue that much of the existance described in the book does actually tale place in the current day in some countries I'm not 100% convinced the ending is redemptive - ie is it internal (I'm trying not to include spoilers) or did it actually happen. I did feel on every page I was asking the question "What would I do?" - something which was intended I'm sure I also find it totally convincing that so much of humanity did what it did in the book - we only have to look at how people interact over queues, social services etc to see how few people genuinely look out for all others (not just a known few)
