  2. If a hot dog isn't street food, I don't know what is!
  3. Feathers ahead of you would appear to rule out a feathered stalker, or your clothing falling apart...
  4. The old Stratford shopping centre is at least better than the E&C shopping centre, or those strange arcade/malls in Peckham.
  5. Cue complaints from "locals" about yuppies and yummy mummys ruining the area with their fancy ways.
  6. Perhaps Louisa's been reading too much Philip K Dick and got a bit carried away.

  9. We've still got local characters. You and Fox, for a start! Always there to brighten up the day! If I'm honest, not all the changes in the area suit me either, and there are things I miss from 10-15 years ago. But what's the point in banging on about it? People come, people go. Places change. The majority of recent-ish arrivals are not pretentious, just people who want to live in London and have found an area they can afford which has a bit of green space and a few pubs and stuff.
  10. Or maybe you could just accept that time doesn't stand still.
  11. Most of the estate agents have been here since before the gentrification really kicked off.
  12. I don't think it's normal practise, but then again I think the Lister Primary Care Centre is a special case. They used to operate a walk-in centre, but was recently changed (I believe) to a GP referral system instead.
  13. You might as well blame your mates who have moved out of the area, and sold their houses for fat stacks (yo)
  14. Of course, maxxi. I don't buy that any significant number of people drive into ED just for the little market.
  15. A woman who looks like she's been bashed about, with her boobs on display... that ought to make for an interesting interview.
  16. Otta - yep it's mainly about kids/family, and when I said "can't see what's not to love" I was making the perhaps insensitive assumption that you have family to spend it with... hopefully those who won't be spending it with family will still be able to enjoy themselves. I realise I'm very lucky to have parents who are still here, as well as wife, daughter, brother, sister, nieces, nephews. Anyway... working in finance (sort of), we need people around whenever the market's open, so I'll be in over some of the xmas period, but don't really mind it. Long lunches, early evenings, etc.
  17. Without doubt Moxons isn't cheap, I'd usually regard shopping there as a luxury... but that doesn't mean that Tesco's fish is "as good as anything you can buy locally", does it?! BTW, I'd say most visitors parking on a weekend are here for the shops, cafes, and restaurants. The market is quite small and not exactly a destination in its own right.
  18. At least two consecutive days without work (usually more), family together, lots of (mainly good) food, booze, presents (more so the giving these days but also receiving some good stuff occasionally!)... can't see what's not to love.

    SPOTY 2014

I can't figure out which is more pointless and boring. Sports Personality or X-Factor finals.
  20. The fight is big enough for Floyd... huge UK stadium fight plus US and UK PPV, surely bigger than the likes of Maidana or Guerrero. But like you say, I think Mayweather outclasses Khan all day long.

    Hipsters

Yeah. Much better they take a job with PWC or JP Morgan. That's the key to a joyful life!
  22. monkeylite Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Gosh, I better make sure I never walk behind > anyone in East Dulwich for fear of being accused > as an immigrant rapist mugger. No, but you might get accused of being a complete bellend.
  23. My wife (and my brother's wife) both think that ducks can't fly.
  24. I really think Haye would have dealt with Fury easily. If he hadn't cancelled. Twice.

I was under the impression that they specialised in imported American cereals (the ones which are basically sweets in a box).
