  1. I know it does, but to me it just looks like the existing rail line between PR and QRP. And looking at the google satellite view, I cannot see any parallel disused line.
  2. Can somebody who doesn't communicate in riddles actually describe to me where the coal line is?

  4. By the time I got to LB (6:40 or something) everything - amazingly - seemed to be going smoothly. I'm sure it didn't last long though.
  5. Is it directly adjacent to the working railway line between the two Peckham stations? I know I may sound thick, but from google satellite view it's not at all obvious where this disused high level line is!
  6. That's the other thing... a proper re-sole job costs what I'd normally spend on a pair of shoes.
  7. Am I the only one who can't figure out where this coal line is?
  8. The one time I spent over ?100 on a pair of shoes (budget-end Loakes) they fell apart within a couple of months, so since then, I stick to around the ?50 mark! I can totally understand people buying nice things (people can spend their own money however they want) but it's not for me. Saying that, I'm quite tempted by a pair of those Solovair boots...
  9. An Australian telling us how much better stuff is at home... whatever next...
  10. Tannoy and Celestion still manufacturer their premium products in UK.

    craft beer

I think "Barley Wine" is like "IPA", in that the modern "craft beer" versions don't really resemble the original drink at all.

  15. How many grams of fat do you think are in a chicken curry from Jaflong?
  16. ARM only design the chips and license the designs, they don't manufacture anything. (IP is nothing to be sniffed at, but if you want something physically made here, you'll have to look elsewhere). All the things I can think of that are still made in UK have an image of "Britishness" which is key to the brand. Cars - Bentley, Mini, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Land Rover (of course all foreign owned) Guitar amps - Marshall, Orange Bikes - Brompton, Pashley
  17. I do have respect for vegetarians and vegans. Especially the ones I know who love their food and have made sacrifices to do what they feel is the right thing. But when I read stuff like "keeping bees for commercial or hobby purposes violates the bees' rights to be free of human exploitation" I just think they're totally off their rocker.
  18. Sue, you used to tell us all what an easy walk it was from ED to Hoopers when you had gigs there! (it was an easy walk... the Gowlett is even easier). "Pea, leek, gorgonzola, ricotta and spinach" - it's unorthodox for a pizza topping, but as a combination of flavours I would consider it fairly normal. Actually it sounds quite good.
  19. In case his family or friends are reading... perhaps some thoughtful words of condolence may be more appropriate than drawing attention to your sanctimonious displays of superiority.
  20. TBH, for the amount it's worth and the hassle of storing it, not sure that a charity would want it. I'd just see if anyone wants to swap for a bottle of wine. Maybe someone could use it for a teenager's bedroom or something.

You do realise, I assume, that just because we're struggling to emerge from recession, doesn't mean that people don't have a tenner to spend on a pizza and a beer once in a while. Oh, and please tell me where this "working mans caf" is where I can stuff my face for ?2.25.
  22. If I changed "less absurd" to "realistic", would that satisfy your pedantic urges?
  23. Well... it IS undisputable that they are Time Out's winners. I don't see anyone claiming that they're everyone's favourite.
