  1. Perhaps they could make the little ladders out of solid gold while they're at it.
  2. People use Iceland as their social hub, therefore it should stay? Seriously?

    Hipsters

    ?50... blimey...
  4. Franks/Bussey all well and good, at least they have got people talking about Peckham in a positive light for a change. But is the view from the roof more important than creating new housing? Is preserving the current hipster hangout of choice (for three months of the year) more important than the redevelopment of a crappy-beyond-words shopping precinct?
  5. I don't really have a problem with it. As long as there's enough land left for a reasonable garden for each house. At a time when new flats are being built on open green space (e.g. proposals for DKH estate), this seems like a lot of fuss about nothing. Emergency vehicle access doesn't seem like such a big deal to me, there are plenty of properties in London where vehicles can't drive right up to the doorstep. If that's a problem for you, don't buy the house.

    random stuff

  7. Not a huge fan of big bowls of soupy stuff, but I believe it's pronounced "fuh"
  8. I just read that the Jongo thingy can only play Spotify via Bluetooth... sounds a bit crap, non?
  9. Townleygreen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > As I said days ago, it is the tower on Dulwich Hospital!!!!!!!!!!!!! Similar, but I don't think so.
  10. Last week... overground worked fine for me and wasn't too crowded. But the trains into Blackfriars/Elephant were ridiculous.

You can't judge the success on purely financial terms (although I don't have a huge issue with pay based on revenue if that is the sole objective of the role). But it takes a certain type of person with certain skills to lead a large, successful organisation, and it would be naive to think that you could employ someone like that for 40K a year or whatever. And as it goes, I also have no problem with compulsory work experience for those on JSA provided the person is fit and able. 4 week placements of only 30 hours per week? Hardly slavery.
  12. FFS. Not this shite again. How much do you think charity bosses usually get paid? Why is a CEO of a charity worth less than a mid-level banker or lawyer, for instance? As well as research, ALSA fund education and patient support... these things are not important? Because they're not research, you think the money is wasted?
  13. Huguenot has a point in that if the parking's that tight, one space probably won't have a significant impact. Nevertheless, sounds like the disabled bay (and badge) isn't necessary.
  14. The whole Sichuan thing is soooo 2010...
  15. Yeah Iron Man has become his defining role no doubt. But for someone who hasn't seen any of his films before, I'd probably recommend they watch something.. well... better first.

  17. Yeah but the tube will be underneath innit.
  18. I don't really have the knowledge to draw any conclusions about the link (or lack of) between the Rotherham abuse cases and a culture of female oppression. But it would seem wrong to me to lay the blame at anyone or anything other than the offenders themselves.

  20. Is it OK to accept oppression of women and girls amongst first generation immigrants, just because their kids will probably know better? I don't think so. What can be done? Maybe eliminating faith schools to encourage an integrated society. Banning veils in schools. The first prosecutions for FGM were this year. 2014. Not good enough.
  21. There was a diving board in a 7ft6 deep pool?

    Dropped curbs

Turning every driveway into a wheelchair crossing point is bonkers. By all means have a few designated crossing points here and there with yellow lines, but EVERY dropped kerb? It makes no sense. Is this really correct?
  23. I've also seen a similar breakdown, but it's meaningless unless compared directly with other charities. Red Cross allocate 32% of their expenditure to similar costs, which is broadly in line with the ALSA.
  24. A sighting of the Fairbrass brothers is somewhat more believable than Robert Downey Jr!
  25. Actually I was nominated the other day, and declined. But after reading that article, I'm starting to reconsider.
