    Pop ups....

Well when I walked down Rye Lane on Sunday it didn't feel very gentrified!

When you think how much they're likely to have paid for this art (surely no more than ?1K?) and how many tickets they're hoping to sell every year (surely over 100,000) then I don't think there could possibly be any impact on ticket prices.
  3. Good quality beds, nice linen, clean throughout, decent central heating, well equipped kitchen including dishwasher, private outdoor space with table or picnic bench.

When I see something catch on at the rate the whole recent hipster/foodie thing has... food markets, supper clubs, pop-ups, trendy burger joints, etc... surely anything which can become a phenomenon so quickly is inherently faddish to a certain extent? And I don't mean that in a negative way. Our culinary landscape has been irreversibly changed. Will burger vans and taco stands still be attracting crowds of trendy 20-somethings in ten years time? Seems unlikely.
  5. It's a large three storey building - could probably fit in at least 10 good size en-suite doubles. Fullers hotel rooms tend to be quite nice too. Not sure the location's right for them though. And as Louisa says, wouldn't be able to compete with a decent hotel in the village.
  6. The change at London Bridge is pretty shitty I admit... the change at Canada Water is much much quicker
  7. Fullers pub (quality refurbs, good beer) with 10 or so hotel rooms upstairs. Could work.
  8. That is true... certainly a lot of the pubs charge too much for very average food.

  11. There is unrestricted parking around Blanchedowne... 5-10 min walk away.
  12. Not to suggest that the opinions of nearby residents and existing Iceland customers aren't important, but my gut feeling is that most people like the idea of an M&S, and when it comes the place will be rammed with customers - especially 6pm-8pm. I'll happily admit I'm wrong if the shop proves less popular than Iceland. But it doesn't seem very likely.
  13. Depends what you mean by "equal opportunities". How about if you only accept candidates with a degree? How about if you won't consider candidates who don't speak fluent English? Or have a criminal record? Any of these could be interpreted as discrimination if you wanted to put that spin on it, yet they are all relevant criteria.
  14. It seems like an unusual policy, but if it helps solve some of the met's obvious problems then I'd say it's a good thing.
  15. Still think it's a bit of a poor location. Spoons don't really have much to offer except cheap drinks. The food certainly isn't going to attract anyone.

  17. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > England never have been and very likely never will be. True. But they have had decent teams at various times in the 90s and 2000s where they could probably give anyone a good run for their money, and could turn up to a tournament feeling that at least they're in the mix.
  18. And compared to England they probably would be

El Pibe Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > well, it was the team that won three championships > back to back. > If that doesn't qualify, I'm not quite sure what > you would accept. were a good team is not the same as are a good team. Otherwise England might as well send Gazza, Gary Lineker, Peter Shilton and co.

Seabag Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Went to Brick Brewery Peckham on Saturday with Carnell & Co , is that a pop-up ? No I don't think so. Although from what I've seen, I doubt it fits into the plans for redevelopment (which would be a shame... premises and location are spot on)
  23. The best team won. Disciplined in defence, organised in possession, and ruthlessly clinical in the box. And as Bung Moktar Radin wisely noted, they fought with the efficiency of Hitler's war machine.
  24. I thought there were already at least two threads specific to the cinema?
