If I ate pizza more often I would definitely invest in one of those.
  2. The "meal kit" sounds grim. Did you seriously buy one of these?
  3. The rice cooker is definitely the way to go. However, before I had been introduced to such hardware, I used a method similar to goodliz's "double rinse" tactic. Always rinse before cooking, and again with hot water after cooking. Add an intermediate rinsing stage if it's all looking too gooey.
  4. You want to take a 1yr old to a pub? On new years eve?

  7. david_carnell Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Raise income tax by 5p in the ?1 on all those > earning more than ?200,000pa. I wouldn't necessarily oppose this idea, but isn't this rather an arbitrary amount? Why no extra tax bands between 35k and 200k? Why just hit the rich, rather than the middle classes? I wonder how many of us would put our money where our mouths are, and advocate a 43% rate for earnings over 50K?

  9. Greenwich is about ?15 in a black cab to ED. So ?20 from the O2 would sound about right - or maybe ?25 with Addison Lee.
  10. It is not selfish to campaign against reduction of transport services in your local area. People pay a lot of money to use public transport in London, and in this area of London we are gradually receiving less services in return for our money. Huguenot, your worthy/empathetic position sounds fine in theory, but it's an easy thing to say when you don't live here (a cheap shot admittedly). In practise few people would feel the same way.
  11. I can't really see where Huguenot is coming from on this one. The assumption that it is "commercially ludicrous" is based on what? And surely you realise (as possibly the strongest advocate of public transport on this forum) that profitability should not be the main reason for operating a route?
  12. championcat Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > the bit of E Dulwich where you can park easily is miles form the station Actually this is untrue... plenty of parking a 2 min walk to the station if you know where to look. Besides, most places in ED are an easy walk to the station, unless you live right down the Forest Hill/Honour Oak end.
  13. I see several staffies running around off the lead most days, when I walk through the estate. I really worry when I see these young guys with these dogs.
  14. > how many of you or people you know of, actually used the degree they obtained to start a career post uni? Loads - including most of the people I work with. And even if you go on to work in an unrelated area, a degree is a pre-requisite for a lot of jobs.
  15. The politicians can never resist the opportunity to bicker, can they? Don't they understand that people aren't interested in hearing their squabbles?
  16. Music venue, maybe. Walkabout - you've got to be joking!

  18. I do agree that Tandoori Nights is good, and that the majority are almost indistinguishable from each other. But I do think that Pistachio Club is a cut above most of them.
  19. Michael Palaeologus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > the minimarket in the corner of Quorn Road has tarted itself up. I can't say I've noticed any change over the last couple of years... exactly what aspect of this shop has been "tarted up"?!
  20. I can't believe nobody has mentioned Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmas Time". It really makes me feel quite angry and violent. With the retarded lyrics and that stupid synth sound... ARGGHHH!
  21. On And On - The Muffs
  22. Yeah, it's a criminal act... but somehow I can't imagine the police being too keen on investigating. Take comfort in the fact that you're a better person than he is... and somewhere down the line, he'll try the same thing with the wrong person.
  23. Delcan - not sure about athletes foot, but Vitali Klitschko reckons piss reduces the swelling on his hands... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7670158.stm
  24. Y'man, I don't really understand what you're talking about! But here's a pint anyway... :)-D KK, not trying to make anyone look silly. Perhaps rgutsell runs in the light during the summer, but at the moment it's winter, and it's dark in the evenings. That's all. Right, I think my participation in this thread is over... I haven't been running for over a year, and even then my time would have probably been rubbish.
