  1. Does the actor stand in the bakery section reciting "Tell me where is fancy bread"?
  2. Alas it is not illegal for a non-badge holder to park in a Sainsbury's disabled space, as it is on private land.....
  3. I suspect if WR had been able to buy the premises next door then the two-door option might have been pursued. But the pavement there is pretty wide anyway and there's no real obstruction. What used to get my goat was people who queued for various ATMs at right angles to the building, thereby truly blocking the pavement. Thankfully people in LL seem to be more civilised these days, and form a queue at the curb so that passers-by are not hindered. Anyway for a real obstruction you cannot beat the queue by Sparkes on a Saturday morning, because their van always parks by the narrowest part of the pavement on NCR. But hell, it's a popular shop in a popular market on a Saturday, so it's all part of the fun!
  4. Barcelona 4 Chelsea 1 Man Utd 1 Arsenal 1
  5. Houses in Calton Avenue were going for ?3 million not that long ago...
  6. GU desserts....>:D
  7. Ideally every GP surgery should have its own pharmacy either on the premises or next door. It is just so convenient for a substantial proportion of the patients. be they sick, infirm or just wrestling with numerous toddlers. The Forest Hill Road surgery gets an honourable exception to this rule as there's two pharmacies practically over the road (shame there's no crossing there though) and has Cafe 2050 close by where one can recover from the ordeal of collecting one's repeat prescription by consuming coffee and chocolate cake...
  8. Not looked lately but Franklins used to do a bargain set lunch on weekdays.
  9. Depends on how the player gives the stick back. Cantona went a bit too far, yet still kept most of the neutrals' sympathy as I recall. Beckham at Man Utd used to have crowds chanting "Posh Spice takes it up the arse" - a chant which in my view merited a good long burst from a machine gun. But all Beckham did when he scored was cup his ear to them...and there are people who claim he is inarticulate!
  10. Everyone knows that the only perfect bacon sandwich is the one you make yourself! >:D
  11. >>So is the bacon in my frigde safe? >>I was intending to fry six rashers, with three tomatos and put them between the halved slces of some white baps. >>Baps I had smeared with Branston's Gherkin Relish and all. >>So should I carry on with this gourmet treat or not?<< You could always try using bread instead.... B)
  12. There's rather more than just "African Art" in there! That said, I was sorry to see the ponds go when they refurbished and expanded the buildings several years ago. As this was financed by lottery funding I do wonder if your informant may be stuck in a time warp?:))
  13. I have always found the people on the tills charming and helpful. But I do agree that it's bizarre how the aisles seem to be busy or blocked all the time with shelf-stackers...
  14. Never mind the Premier League....there are still three teams chasing one remaining automatic promotion on the final day of the season next Sunday... :-S
  15. But what would happen if/when Celtic or Rangers finish in the bottom three? (which would be sooner rather than later IMHO)
  16. Yes sorry, did mean the clockwise side. And I did know the "best" route really - am just appalled at the extent and wastefulness of the diversion required! :)) Least slow route is probably Underhill/Dunstans/LL/Grove Tavern
  17. Jazz's (the place about to open) advertises "wet shaves" - so a real, "something for the weekend sir?" barber's then! B)
  18. Well as Melford is now completely closed for the time being I wonder who can suggest the quickest, legitimate way to get from Underhill Road (close to the Belvoir junction) to the anti-clockwise side of the South Circular? (I have to drive to Tooting tomorrow...) :'(
  19. Am I the only who thinks dear DM protesteth just a little too much??? B)
  20. Making Melford one way will just shift the congestion to adjoining streets. I wonder if they considered a total ban on parking on the bend - which is easily the worst part, being both narrow and almost blind.
  21. >>But Overhill Road is much wider than Melford Road, isn't it?<< It is already one-way up to the junction with Belvoir, but currently few cars turn right into it. Once Melford is closed off expect to see more accidents at the LL/Overhill junction, and presumably the idiotic process will proceed further north along LL. Belvoir is(currently) a quiet residential road every bit as narrow as Melford, and the Belvoir/Underhill junction is going to be much more hazardous too. Melford only became as congested as it is now when the right turns into Underhill were notionally banned (buses are still allowed to perform this supposedly dangerous turn, and I'd expect the number of illegal right turns here to increase as more cars reject the long detour through the Grove Tavern lights and up on to Overhill). The simplest way to ease Melford's bottleneck/congestion is to reverse the ban on rght turns into Underhill. I'd better declare an interest - I'm on Underhill close to the junction with Belvoir. I may have to resort to U-turns on the south circular (still legal at this point) and return home via Wood Vale when driving from the Forest Hill/Crystal Palace direction.
  22. You should read the original thread - sorry don't know where it is exactly. Basically the jams you refer to - which are bad - were a consquence of the totally unnecessary ban on right turns into Underhill Road from the south circular. If you now ban them into Melford then the congestion/jams will just be shifted to Overhill/Beaval.
  23. I recall the proposal to make Melford one-way being roundly criticised by everyone on here who lives in the vicinity....I know I submitted an objection and heard nothing further.
  24. >> Not in a skirt, DI Frank Burnside - there's a slim chance he might call you "treacle" while cuffing you<< It was Pete Beale wot called everyone "Treacle", not Burnside! Would I wet up your leg?!
  25. >?29.90 for 25kg, free delivery< That is cheap - are they shelled?
