  1. That bloody grumpyoldman is such a johnny-come-lately arriviste! In the real good old days ED not only 'ad an awspital worthy of the name, but there was also a brothel* 'andily placed on ED Grove 'alf way between the Foresters - gradely pub! - and said 'awspital. Now that was town planning... *ok a basement flat with two working ladies..
  2. Of course the trouble is they have really dumbed down UC since the glory days of Bamber Gascoigne...B)
  3. I've seen Jeremy Bowen queueing at Sparkes' van - stout fellow!
  4. Ocado is wonderful but you really have to spend ?75+ a time - not really any good if all you are short of is a half-decent loaf of bread!:)
  5. Now who was it who said "facts are sacred, comment is free"? Ah yes...C.P. Scott I think, who must be turning in his grave at this latest piece by Ms Codswollop....
  6. 1st post a whinge, third one a personal attack...hmmm...
  7. I still remember with some fondness the shafting Morgan got when he was foolish enough to appear on HIGNFY
  8. >>surely most new developments involve the demolition of an existing building?<< Yes but here there was never going to be room for enough flats/houses to make a decent profit, I'd have thought: no off-street parking or gardens to speak of either.
  9. They must have cost the earth to put up though, given how there was a wreck of a house to demolish and the land to flatten out first
  10. Bloody hell I'd far rather have a cabinet minister as a neighbour than those appalling people!
  11. What a terribly dull 6th Round draw...Looks like the cup might be Everton's this year! :))
  12. >>I almost choked on my raspberry sponge.<< I hereby nominate this as "Euphemism of the Week" B)
  13. It's just a pity the final series is being thrown away on Fiver US or some such late on Mondays...
  14. >So your dig at Revie was that he was too loyal by only achieving with one club? Pah.< He did not achieve that much for Leeds though did he, in terms of major trophies won? Leeds did have this tendencey to fall at the final hurdle - hence their successes in the Fairs Cup - the Losers' competition. I'm the first to admit that if Revie was a failure I wish Sheffield United had failed like that during the same period! The thing with Clough is until he split with Taylor and went to Leeds he had a record of achievement with a whole string of clubs, from turning Hartlepool around to winning european trophies with two distinctly unfashionable sides.
  15. Surely it has been demonstrated time and time again that if you supply/build a car park that holds X cars then come Saturday morning 4X will be queueing impatiently to get into it?

A knob joke by the 2nd message of a new thread is impressive going, even by the disgustingly low standards of the EDF! >:D
  17. Sorry but, although agreeing Revie did an impressive job with Leeds, the fact is Liverpool at that time more deserve the "team of the era" accolade. Leeds never won the European Cup and had something of a reputation as "chokers". Clough on the other hand did it all twice with both Derby & Nottingham Forest.
  18. I think the Geneva solution is well worth an experiment...
  19. dammit I live such a sheltered existence
  20. Well the bus lane continues unbroken at, e.g., the pelican crossing at the junction of LL and Overhill Road.
  21. Those two foxes both look a good deal more emaciated than the sleek beast who frequents our garden: whether this is down to burning up calories on the trampoline or with rumbustious and cacaphonous sex in ceiling-starers' gardens I have no way of deducing.
  22. I'm not at all sure Revie belongs in such august company! But Clough yes.
  23. Bromley has both a Patisserie Valerie & a Hotel du Chocolat though....oh and a Belgian restaurant! edited...and an Ann Summers!
  24. >>Entering a Harvester should always entail a certain degree of mortal peril.<< Well there's the salad bar for that.....but for those of wanting to cross to get to the park or along to the college or picture gallery (and/pr back again) :))it'd be nice to cross in some safety...
  25. >>Mr Simon what are "twonks"?> And who are you to say (from a cool point of view) what people should or shouldn?t wear.>Mr Simon I think baseball caps/hoods etc look silly too but you do not have the right to ?deal? with it. What do you care so much? Are you really cool?> If so post a picture and we can all vote<, Oh come on just how uncool would that be?! trust me the world is not yet ready...
