Planning Application flats above ESPH - WITHDRAWN
Cora replied to Cora's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think they may have got a partial first floor development but now they?ve decided to try and double it... -
This is a large development proposed to be 2 storeys above the existing building - no extra parking spaces, no Space for bins and will massively change the low level skyline in this lovely area next to the cinema..please take a look and lodge any comments to planning - these will not be social housing! It says deadline for public comments is 7th January but the planning officer can still take comments up to the 20th January. The email address is [email protected] The reference is 20/AP/3185 and details can be found on Southwark planning website. https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/simpleSearchResults.do?action=firstPage Call me cynical but I presume Park hill chose their timing carefully Christmas and Covid! Thanks

I think if I follow long threads I may find the answer but can someone confirm exactly what is meant by the new 'no through road' signs. If for example I turn into College road during the times restricted to visit someone on College road, i.e. for access is that ok? If I turn down Towny road then remember it is not allowed and turn left back round onto Lordship Lane is that ok? I.e do you have to set off 2 lots of cameras for it to be being used as a 'through road'. I drive very rarely and am paranoid of slipping up!! These signs seem so unfair...and assume people will know the road layout and rules in advance.... Any clarification greatly received. Thanks

Any charities looking for help on Christmas Day?

Try contacting Link Age or age uk -
Lucy Thomas worked locally - sorry don?t have contact details but an internet search should find her..

Do report issues to the CQC (Care Quality Commission) - they ask for feedback on their website and are the ones that can inspect and get things done.

Any last minute half term suggestions....

Thanks for these, have just booked into the YHA Lee Valley..... :) - now I just have to tell the teens about their being no wifi because of Co-vid! (I'm happy with a bed and toilet!) and hoping that the weather might be kind.... -
Yes, it works as above but do have some schools you have a realistic chance of getting into on your list however far down. There is usually more support from schools but they are dealing with more day to day issues. I find it?s much harder to navigate stuff online - everything is longwinded and not designed to talk parents through the process.

Picturehouse to close? (temporarily...)
Cora replied to BrandNewGuy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I agree, the staff were amazing through this...maybe Picturehouse?s will be the first to open again...good luck to each of them and fingers crossed it won?t be too long 🤞 -
Want to get away with two of my sons (13 and 10) but with Covid restrictions can't visit family and nothing much left on air bnb. Too cold to camp....Any ideas?

Picturehouse to close? (temporarily...)

With so few places as the bad weather draws in couldn't the cinemas show ongoing old classics - twice the shows but half the audience? I know it's the bigger picture for the organisation but would be so sad to see it go.... -
Mmm...good point, thanks....

Thanks, really appreciate your thoughts....Are some sixth forms stronger at certain subjects in anyone's opinion or is is all pretty routine?
-
Any at all! Whereas with Primary and Secondary there's council information about the different sixth forms etc, it seems to be a much more random process when choosing sixth forms. With Co-vid, I imagine it will not be top of the agenda to support kids in choosing where to go next and that word of mouth will be really useful. If you've been through the process, any pointers recommendations, strengths of certain departments very welcome. We're looking for maths, physics, economics so any particular pointers for those would be great. Also if someone can explain the difference in real terms of A-levels versus Baccalaureate... Thanking you in advance

Solicitor recommendation for family dispute

Lucy Thomas is a mediator who works locally -
I think they would need planning permission - contact the planning enforcement office and ask them to investigate.

Cora replied to kristymac1's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Argh....I thought this had been implemented at the beginning of lockdown...mine have been paying... -
Dulwich library - is it open? If not, when will it?!
Cora replied to localyocal's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Went up today, closed.....why aren't they advertising opening times? We have a load of books we just want to return! -
With so many local people looking for work and so many small local businesses who might need someone local to help out it would be great to join them together..benefiting both.....please...

skateboarding at the Grove Pub car park
Cora replied to theo.hughes's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
My son?s been welcomed here and is loving the positive ?can do? vibe - thanks for creating it 🙂 Definately contact the councillors, Helen Hayes and the other one mentioned. Also James Barber (Via Liberal Democrats)- Sadly no longer a councillor but loads of experience in local projects. Might be worth contacting the Southbank skaters - they had a long and I think successful campaign - might have some good tips....I know it?s a bit late to save the pub idea but can?t help thinking of it as a good relocation for Hop Kingdom.... -
Hi, as things open up I thought it would be great to open a thread with ideas for trips out with the kids (mine are a little older, 10-15yrs). I guess my own minimum are places that have toilets open! If people find any good places and are willing to share here, would be very grateful. (I am now about to go and research some fruit picking places mentioned elsewhere...) Thanking you in advance....

Make North Cross Road a 7 day a week Market
Cora replied to Jakido's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It would great to have some stalls back....(I guess I am thinking particularly of the egg lady!) -
I have experienced this very blatantly in both M$S and Co-op a few times but it is so hard to know what to do. I try and tell the staff but to be honest I feel bad telling them because there is not much they can do! Only if the companies put proper security on the doors will it be prevented. I know that is not an option for you Monica :( It is the blatantness of it that shocks me and makes me feel that we (ED) are definite easy targets. Nothing discreet. If (and I'm sure they don't) the police had some spare undercovers I am sure they would be able to get them pretty easily. Just hang around during the evening shift.

Hi, I have a teenager keen to join in a remote game of Dungeons and Dragons. I am sure there are others sitting bored at home right now and ways to set this up (sorry I am not technical!) If anyone else has Teens up for this or any advice on how to do it/join a group we'd be very grateful. Thanks.
