  1. could ask Islington how it's all been going..... http://www.islingtongazette.co.uk/news/crime-court/drivers-who-leave-motor-running-in-islington-will-be-fined-in-first-idling-campaign-in-the-country-1-3707742 Note- this is from 2014
  2. when the Harris girls used to be Waverley in Homestall Road I gave a colleague a lift home and drove down that road. This was 20 years ago. The road was completely blocked with girls fighting...I hooted them and they promptly turned round and started towards us. We quickly closed the car windows and locked the doors and could not move without running them down- fortunately some members of staff came along and saved us- I dread to think.....my advice is to call the police- they are usually around at chucking out time.
  3. This week http://www.southwark.gov.uk/news/2018/jan/southwark-launches-new-anti-engine-idling-enforcement The council REALLY should tell their own workforce not to leave engines running. A Southwark Cleaning Services vehicle was in the Sainsburys car park last week with its engine running for at least 10 minutes whilst the 2 occupants- the driver was a big bloke with a ginger beard, were busy on their mobile phones- it was not even COLD on the day!
  4. I used to use that one when Steve manned it- he used to let me through for nothing....
  5. There used to be 2 types of Masters- one of which was called a 'Taught' Masters
  6. Begging is illegal.....
  7. the whole area is at the base of the Shard- and what an abomination THAT is
  8. ps I use the toll road if its busy
  9. I go to Snowdonia every year and I use the AA route planner even though I have a sat nav - it does take 6 hours anyway (takes me 7 because I stop off) - I go M25 M40 M6 M54 A5 then I use the sat nav for the small roads
  10. I'm not surprised loans have been made available for Masters because if things are anything like A levels, the subject matter at Masters level would be the subject matter that used to be in the final year of a regular degree course!

I think it's vile and use DH whenever I can especially for a return journey There is always a vortex of wind at the base of tall buildings- Centre Point used to be the worst in my experience.

Thanks for publicising another potential bike crime hotspot rh....
  13. Just walked down from Goodrich down Crystal Palace Road and North Cross Road and there were at least 6 lots and most in the middle of the pavement and trodden in...I don't hold out any hope because people who do this probably cannot read!
  14. Your post surprised since it seems to suggest that one could get funding for anything. One of my kids did a masters on a heavy biological science course but he had to fund himself as he did not qualify for the government loans - he got a loan from the Co-Op Bank. This is the government page https://www.gov.uk/funding-for-postgraduate-study He was the tender age of 22 when he went
  15. Since the double yellow lines I have not been able to drive down 2 roads this week because the roads were blocked with double parked lorries. Where are the traffic wombles when you need them?
  16. It would help when the Council allow a plot to be a block of flats, or a house to be converted to 3 dwellings, that they get the INFRASTRUCTURE in place FIRST. This is not he fault of Thames Water it is the result of stupid Town 'Planning' ( which seems to err on the side of how many votes Labour can rustle up from a single application) Sorry for the cynicism- well actually I'm not because it is TRUE
  17. I've heard it all now
  18. yes- in the green bar at the bottom of your link there is a W...that means the wind is blowing from the West to the East
  19. I met someone who didn't use indicators- their excuse was that if you let other drivers know what you are going to do they will cut you up etc..... As for the bit of road between Kings on the Rye and Rye Lane there are bikes and cycles everywhere- I just shut my eyes and hope for the best!
  20. I wonder how many people trying to save the planet wipe out all that hard work with one aeroplane trip to Disneyland? http://shrinkthatfootprint.com/shrink-your-travel-footprint
  21. how is it an accident pray? Stupid driver intent on getting kid into school doesn't check mirrors etc.....NOT a bloody accident imvho
  22. These kind of threads make me cross because it is OBVIOUS why the P13 is erratic. The amount of traffic on its route is phenomenal all hours of the day. If you think about where the P13 has to travel and the probability of it getting stuck somewhere is high you would not need to post this. I used the P13 every day when there was a lot less traffic on its route in 1994 and it was brilliant.
  23. Once you get past 2Kg the Parcel Force is expensive- MyHermes or the like is cheaper
  24. People who do that should lose their licence forever
  25. Good luck if you end up living in a region served by Southern!!
